Reading your beautiful translation I finally know what separates Teresa from all the rest. She doesn't just sing songs in other than her original language, she understands the language. Today in the US choirs sing songs in many different languages, but they r like little birds just making the correct sounds. Teresa understood, she spoke the language then sang the songs. When she sang, "Nanimo iwanaiwa sobade sobade nemuritai" she understood what she was saying.
After going thru dozens of TT's videos and listening to her amazing voice blend sweetness and sadness in all of them I think this song and three others are the ones that best exemplify her enchanting voice among the Japanese songs. The others are Ban Shuu, Ashizuri-Misaki and Kita no Tabibito. I've only discovered TT on Youtube this past year so have much more to explore, esp. her Chinese songs. Unfortunately I don't understand either language (just a little Japanese) but I love her voice.
