  • who's the guy at 2.25?

  • @Sinister747

    that's dr. john (r&b singer)

  • fuck of bono

  • I cannot understand why you sould come here just to bash on these musical legends. Without them, you wouldn't have the shit that you listen to today.

  • Absolutely brilliant video...............

  • who's the guy @ 1:26 ?

  • @missnomdutilisateur

    Thomas Allen (opera singer)

  • tom jones!!?

  • I CANNOT stop listening to this song!!!

  • trainspotting...

  • Bono is the king here.

  • Great song except for the fact that Bono and Elton John are singing. Why does Bono always intrude on other people's genius? He constantly worms his way into documentaries and tributes to people that actually matter (Lou Reed, Morrissey, Ian Curtis, etc). And Elton John always forces his personal life down people's throats. How boring.

  • 3:23 Tom Jones crushing it

  • Splendid.

  • Why is there so much hatred on this page? If a young person feels moved by a classic song which hosted so many legendary musicians. Do you think your better than him and that you alone deserve to listen to this as your older? Pathetic, let the boy speak.

  • THIS IS MY SONG !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Shane is the best

  • 73 people doesn't know a perfect day when it hits them :)

  • False advertisement: There is NO Duran Duran in this song... and I actually recommend their version over this one.

  • Love David Bowie <3

this song is one of my favorites...

  • Love David Bowie <3

this song is one of my favorites...

  • i say leave this song to Lou alone. It's a very personal song and much of it's meaning and atmosphere is missing here. But i never liked such "all stars" versions anyway.

  • La cancion de mi vida, total, grande lou.

  • when was this video released?

  • is there a version with just lou reed?

  • @999sgirl Of course! This song is his song.

  • lovely<3

  • OH I LOVE THIS SONG.

    REALLY NICE.

    EXCEPTIONAL.

  • just classic with performances by artists who have left their mark

  • Spent a full day trying to think of this song, just randomly thought of it there, had to get out of bed to download it, its 2.08 am.. totally worth gettin up for! :)

  • I love that peaceful moment with Aretha Franklin followed by Laurie Anderson (Lou's wife), perfection.

  • @mirdja83 It is Birmingham's own Joan Armatrading before Laurie

  • @Mark1712L Oh, ok. Thanks for correcting.

  • @mirdja83 it is Birmingham's very own Joan Armatrading before Laurie

  • Please if someone could answer, who are: women in minute 1:34, 1:39 3:09 and man in minute 2:10 and 2:57?

    Thanks!

  • @fridarotoperono 1.34 is Heather small formerly from m-people.

  • @fridarotoperono

i belive the dude from 2:57 is the same guy from a lil earlier .. cant remember his name but hes the lead singer of the pouges ... an irish band

  • @lewistdr but that's not him at 2:57

  • @lewistdr You're right that the guy from earlier is Shane MacGowan from the Pogues, but at 2:57 It's the singer from Suede, Brett Anderson.

  • I remember listening to this song iin First School at Assembly time in the mornings. I have always loved it and me and my sister just managed to hunt it down.

    Thank you =]

  • Why can't I share it on FB?

  • @petchicken83 Why would anyone make a charity single of a song about heroin addiction? It's one of my favourite Reed solo works, but it is about dark places and not too concealing about it.

  • Duran Duran are not in this video... but they did record their own version of 'Perfect Day' two years earlier, which Lou Reed apparently went on to say he preferred to his own, original, version.

  • I am fourteen years old. I love David Bowie, Elton John, Duran Duran and many other "old" artists. I was raised with them. This song means a lot to me. And I just wanna say:

I wish they still made music. I wish people were still famous because they had talent, and not the looks. I do wish I was born a little earlier.

  • @Fillmydreams Great mate. Congratulations! It´s a bit strange hear of new generations to choose David Bowie, Elton John, Duran Duran and many other "old" artists in state of some rubish like justin biber or so.

  • @Fillmydreams

Because of course, a fourteen year is the ultimate authority on the music industry.

  • @Fillmydreams For 14 what a great comment! We both live the same views :)

  • @Fillmydreams you are not fourteen

    you is TROLLIN

  • @Fillmydreams

fuck you kid. go read and shut up

  • @Fillmydreams ....awesome m8. y the fuck arent more kids... ( i mean ) young ppl not like you, i dont think im that old im only 27 but i mean wtf happened to great musicians.. u make a good point.

  • @Fillmydreams

no one gives a fuck when you were born faggot

  • @RAGEXVIII why did that many people like it then stop hating for the sake of it

  • @Fillmydreams Dont forget that what has been carried through from the 70s and 80s is only the best of the best, the shitty stuff (and there was *alot* of it) has been forgotten and left behind because, well, it was shit. It wasn't a time where every song being produced was an artistic masterpiece.

  • +1 :)

  • thank you for sharing

  • Gosh, I remember this video so clearly - I was only little when it came out, but it obv meant a lot to me

  • GLORIOUS! thank you

  • @melajuana emmylou harris

  • Awesome song!!!

  • ...Bowie is actually wearing socks and sandals

    xx

  • another poster said the person in this song is heroin - true? if so, why the heck wd this be a charity song for da kids?

  • @idic5 its because its a Lou Reed song so they look for the bad part . Besides each one can give to any song the meaning we want ... For me its a lovely song , a song so deep that touch my heart and with simple words ...
