  • Go Jets Go

  • I miss my hometown. I will defend it as vehemently as I have complained about it.

  • You gotta have at least a bit of a pair to sing "the Guess Who suck" in a place called the Burton Cummings Theatre. ;)

  • burton cummings is so much better then the mts center

  • Ha. I was at this concert, and judging from the angle of the camera, I wasn't sitting to far away from the people who shot this.

  • burton cummings theatre is pretty dang sweet. love that place.

  • fuck burt is right. people say something is happening at the burton cummings and im like wtf is that? OHHHH the walker!

  • Winnipeg is a strange place. I've lived here for almost my entire life, and Winnipeggers love to trash their own city. We love when we "win" crime capital stats for the year, and the majority of people constantly talk about how much the bombers suck, and when the jets were here it was the same thing. its not that we ACTUALLY hate all this stuff, we just pretend to.

  • your right. case in point. in this video when he sings, "the Jets were lousy anyway," the crowd gave the biggest chear. b/c they really LOVE the Jets, even though they sucked.

  • @lowbridgehit

couldnt agree more... they may have been a lousy team, but they were our lousy team...we are the only people in the world that can love that franchise...

and now they are not lousy and they wither and die in a desert in front of no one. in a city more "prosperous and better" than Winnipeg...irony.... soon they will realize where their home is, and i will love them again.... and i am sure they will start losing again : )

  • @CromwellDamuuga THE JETS be back! Weaker not, but loved as much! Great tune only a 'Pegger could understand! I Love My Town! Go Jets Go !

  • Nothing more truthful about winnipeg has ever been said, you should add this to our wiki

  • We are very proud of our crime ridden, sport failing, slushie capital city :D

  • *slurpee

    :)

  • @hiebs3 That's what's so great about the city :)

  • TommyGuns, you're an idiot. He doesn't actually hate the Guess Who at all. Its irony.

  • everything they say is so true

    still love winnipeg though

besides the time this year when if was 50 below and i had to walk to school

    i hated winnipeg then

  • Lol, I actually like the weather than.

Guess Who is good, and I'm related to one of them.

  • dam good call, that place will always be to me... The Walker Theatre... end of story.

  • good call.

  • it's a bit haunting that he's playing One Great City in a venue named after a person who he criticizes in the song! I love this song. It seems to be anywhere they go and play this song, everyone in the crowd will always say "I hate Winnipeg!", even in Quebec City, where I saw them perform, amazing band live.

  • The name of the song is "One Great City", and the song lyrics, the performance and the hometown crowd reaction are all full of irony. You don't need to have too much of a brain to realize that while he may not like Winnipeg, he certainly loves Winnipeg. And for sure, you would be hard pressed to find Canadians with more pride for their city than Winnipeggers.

  • Well said. Agree through and through. Winnipeggers are a rare breed and I am proud to have em in my country

  • It's true. We're the only people too lazy to move from god-forsaken WINNIPEG! I miss the jets

  • @Goooooaaal the title "One Great City" actually comes from the sign that greets you as you enter winnipeg. It says "Welcome to/ Beinvenue a Winnipeg: One Great City." Or at least it used to. The sign and its motto were changed a couple of years back. And I wholeheartedly agree with everything you just wrote! I'm incredibly proud to be a Winnipegger. You summed it up perfectly; sometimes I don't like Winnipeg, but I always love Winnipeg!

  • @Goooooaaal I love Canada but montreal is not something I'm proud of.

  • WINNIPEG RULZ!!!!!!!!!!1

  • There's never a bad time for this song (I am always hating on wpg) - I was at this show in December too.

Wish the Weakerthans were slightly less predictable, all their shows look identical.

I was in the 2nd balcony, it looks like we may have been sitting right near each other.

  • we might have very well been!

it was exciting for us to see this song played to a true winnipeg-en crowd. hearing it anywhere else is just not the same.

  • ive seen the weakerthans a couple of times in my city and once he played that song..everyone in the theatre start signing over him a couple of ''i hate montreal'' :)

i understand what this guy mean by this song..we can feel the same here about our city, but we still love it.

  • great vid, and man you can scream.

  • that image of john is stunning
