@FUnKMEnews It is, but not a direct prequel. It's more of a "side story" that happens 37 years before the first Alien-film. The movie is supposed to explain some backstory on how the aliens were maybe born, or what created them. There are strong rumors floating around that the last 20 minutes or so will have some version of the original aliens, not the same, but as some people say "Prototype Alien" (what they were before they got mixed up with human DNA).

@fenrek I agree. However, they've already done a way better job doing a remake/prequel/sequel of other movies. The trailer still has the same feel as the alien movies, VERY similar suits, almost the same vehicles, same awesome sound track. Obviously they made the trailer feel the same as the trailer of "Alien" for a reason, but it still looks quite promising. Whether it lives up to my expectations or not, we shall see.

@theDrache I know, te most recent prequel that I thouroughly enjoyed was THE THING 2011 which didn't have the same atmosphere as the origonal but it was still brilliant. Also a shame that there is absoloutley not even a shadow shot of an actual Xenomorph in this trailer. Makes me doubt whether this will be a film just about their discovery of the ship and the 'unfin ished man' rather than an actual horror with monsters.

@fenrek Funny. My friend said the exact same thing that you did. And i told him the same thing I'm going to tell you. Watch the original trailer to Alien. No Xenomorph in that one either. Thats the whole point, even though all of us who've done even the slightest bit of research on Prometheus know that its just a prequel to Alien. And we know what the monster in the flick looks like. The point of this trailer, is to pique our interest, and create, suspense.

@theDrache I see but you have to admit that this has a total action movie feel to it and it doesn't do all it could do to create a more eerie atmosphere. There are also rumours about the Space Jockey Xenomorph making an appearence. I don't personnally beleive them but it does seem possible being as the Space Jockeys themselves will be apparent in this movie.

@theDrache yeah, it will be different in a way as movies are changing to try and suit all audiences and not just a single group. You put a ? after space jockey. if you didn't know, a space jockey is a large creature with elephant like features and can be seen aboard the crashedd ship is Alien1. It is the creature strapped into the gun emplacement with the hole in it's ribs.
