'Denis Norden's World of Television' was comissioned to a full series in 1981. Norden turned the series down, and it would return in late 1982 as 'Clive James on Television', which lasted until 2006 - under the title 'Tarrant on TV'.
Charles Foster from Granada is actually providing the voice-over link here in the first clip, as that year's Christmas trailers were given the Granada look and all five major companies had the task of providing the link trailer logos. By the way, this was transmitted on the very evening that Southern and Westward heard that their ITV franchises would not be renewed, and that ATV was to be given a name change to Central, and TV-am and Channel 4 and S4C would also be given IBA franchises.
@cwilliams1976 Actually, the formation of S4C was confirmed on 17th September 1980, and I'm not convinced that the C4 announcement would have coincided with the ITV franchise details either...
