South Pacific, my favorite musical. A powerful

story with what I feel is the most magnificent music

in any musical ever. During WWII my dad was a

teenage anti-aircraft gunner on the aircraft carrier

Saratoga in the Pacific, & he saw much death &

destruction. Yet amid the ugliness of war there were

opportunities to appreciate the beauty of the sea,

the coral atolls & volcanic islands. That generation

saved the world. After that, they just wanted us to

have a better life than they did.

I just saw the Lincoln Ctr revival in San Francisco -- and the show is AMAZING! The cast / the staging / the story - - and of course *the music* makes 'South Pacific' one of the best productions I've ever seen!

they did do a version of it on pbs once just not this version. it was the concert version with reba mcentire but it was still pretty good,
