Tekknoman may have had yhe usual nonsense name changes and removal of the origional music most dubs of the time had. But one thing you cant fault them for was that it was for the most part just as dark as Tekkaman blade.
@TeamTowers1 Yup. That's one thing that was admirable. They kept the storyline pretty much intact. Sure they made Blade into a bit of a joker sometimes, but they didn't hide the fact that this was rather grim and gritty.
@magishinex Plus, despite the removal of the original music (some of which was mediocre, some of it pretty good), this particular little jingle is just plain awesome...
that proves saban is way better than 4kids. 4kids won't even mention death heaven forbid they have to coddle kids all the time... even in pr death is mentioned much more especially after zordon died
I like what ya did with this. I have the audio track of the extended version of this and I just love it. Was never a fan of the Jap version of it cuz its was just too damn slow and boring. This version is fast and just got ya pumped up to watch the show. By far the best out of all of them.
This intro sucks!!! I wonder why always in US change the things so bad, and in a bad way, I watch the 2 versions of tekkaman blade (teknoman), and is was interesting to see that is a complete other thing, the dialogues, names, history, it just suck so bad, really, D-Boy real name was Takaya Aiba and the change it to Nick Carter WTF!!! thats a Backstreet boy name, fuckers..., Jap version FTW!!!
At the end of the 21st century the Earth is invaded by a hoard of Mutant Spider Crabs under the control of the Venomoid Warlord Darkon ''When I descend upon the Earth darkness will unveil its banner across yet another region of the Cosmos''. Even the heroic men and women of the Space Knights cannot defend the Earth without the help of a mysterious young man named Slade who has the ability to transform into the super hero known as Teknoman. And now the continuing saga of Teknoman.
This is the Teknoman opening intro that I did remember seeing on the UPN channel back in 1995. Oh man ! ! that was 15yrs ago, it brought back a lot of memories and I thank you to whoever upload it to youtube.
Well it's not the exact opening. The voiceover is the same, but I spliced it with TB2 footage. Perhaps they would use an opening like this if they aired both series under one name. But you're welcome. Glad to see there are so many Teknoman fans out there.
Man I feel sorry for these new generation of kids nothing like this to grow up with, i remember Sat morning cartoons where sick couldn't wait till the weekend, now the cartoons on are shit and soft dont know what happened?

How it could be overshadowed by Gundam when Gundam Wing premiered in March 2000 in the US. That's about three and a half years after Teknoman was taken off the air.
Actually, the dubbed release of Tekkaman Blade II was released in late 98/early 99, so that predates Gundam Wing by about a year.
With the release of the original japanese series over here, the general consensus is that this show is pretty good. I really don't know of anyone who considers this show a Gundam clone.

I know when Gundam started. Your original comment just said that Gundam overshadowed this show. I didn't know if you were talking about Japan or the US.
I don't know how well this show did in Japan, but Gundam didn't have a show for 92, when this show was on the air. I don't think people considered this a clone, though I could be wrong. It got a sequel though, so it had to have done SOMEWHAT well.

Yes, the theme is so freaing awesome. I watch htis video mainly to hear the theme.
not bad only thing I would recommend changeing is using the clips from Aki in series one instead of two (the human ones) since it might confuse people who haven't seen tb2 and don't know about the animation changes
Eh, I think they're both recognizable. Blue hair or green, there is no one in the TB world that looks like Aki. Besides, I used two clips of D-boy's human form and Aki, one from each series
Actually, I took this opening from the US Dub. There were two dubs. The one you can get on DVD now is the international dub, which doesn't have as many name changes as the us version. For whatever reason, they called him Slade in the US and Blade everywhere else.
But I have another reason for wishing that they kept his name as D-boy.
In the original, he had three names. D-boy, Aiba Takaya, and Blade.
In the dub he has two. Blade and Nick Carter. When he loses his memory after using blastor mode, he insists that everyone call him by his given name, never having heard the name Blade before, which makes no sense because Blade is his "tekno-name". Even if he forgets everything else, he knows that his name is Blade.
Actually, Blade IS his name as well as Nick. By Blade's admission when he went over his origin, the tekno-process wipes out the original's identity and gives him a new name. Considering that he never forgot he was a teknoman, to suddenly forget his name was a little weak. Also, he didn't say anything about it when Saber called him Blade.
It made more sense that he would forget D-boy since it was just a nickname humans gave him and not the one Radham ingrained into him.
In the Japanese story he becomes "Tekkaman Blade" like Clark Kent becomes "Superman".
In the US story he says, "I remember someone calling me Blade" In that he remembers Dagger calling him that.
The teckka-process does not wipe out memories which is why all of the other tekkamen have perfect memomories. He says it replaces their soul -- it makes them evil and ruthless.
Blade's lost memories are a result of his crash/trauma and being pulled out early by his father.
I never said the process wipes out memories. Instead, it imparts an identity to them. It's encoded in their insticts, which is why Blade knew his name right after his father saved him. Out of everything he went through, one thing he always knew. That he was a Teknoman named blade. So it's a little fishy that he didn't remember he was called Blade, but remembered that he could transform and all.
The thing is though, the storyline worked better with three names, since it's a little weird that he would forget his Teknoname, something that was implanted into him by the process. Even in the end, when he forgot everything, he still remembered he was a teknoman. No matter what he went through and forgot, there was still something telling him he was a teknoman.
Forgetting the nickname D-boy made more sense than him forgetting his Tekno-name Blade.
But was Shara EVER called Rapier in the series? I know the unfinished US version fucked up and gave that name to Lance(and gave Lance to Sword) One could say that Shara wasn't far enough into the teknosystem to get a name. She WAS more incomplete than Blade after all. She escaped willingly while Blade was broken out by his father.
I DID forget about Shara though, so I give you credit for bringing it up. But you still have to factor in her being incomplete.
Well in the japanese version, Blade never forgot his name, so that point is moot.
I'm not saying that D-boy is the greatest name in the world, but it fits. You're welcome to your opinion. Plus, it helped his facade in the first half when he had everyone convinced he lost his memory.
The name changes weren't bad. Saber was a lot better than Evil. Blade and Saber. It just works.
Speaking of name changes, I would have LOVED to see them try to talk their way out of making Sword in the US version
And after reading the part about being taken seriously, I'm reminded of Aki and Takaya in the Missing Link special. And also how she said his name seductively in the english dub of TBII
All of the name changes are better, that's why they changed them.
And also one of the things you are forgetting is that the English dub is much more superior in that they match the lips really well, even when pronouncing things.
In the Japanese version you see their mouths move and no sound often and when you do hear sounds it rarely matches well.
Again, that's your opinion. I don't really have a problem with the name changes, but they changed them probably because they didn't want Japanese names on the show. A lot of anime dubbed in the mid 90s did that.
I have seen how the english version is better at matching the lip movement, but only one scene comes to mind. When Blade gets nuked, Star screams "He's gone Ringo!" which matches what's being said as opposed to Aki, who just screams "D-Boy!"
There's some anime out there that have been localized and it tends to suck. Sailor Moon comes to mind. They tried to edit out most of the japanese text and all references to Japan. Yu-gi-oh is another one.
For the most part I agree however. Anime nowadays isn't like it was back before it became "mainstream".
As for games...eh, there have been a few games I've enjoyed from S-E after CT, but they're pretty few and far inbetween.
I know. In the original version, Evil rarely referred to Rapier as Miyuki. In the English version, she was never given a teknoname. (At least not in the US dub as Rapier was given to Lance)
This is perhaps one of the best anime ever created, the story was amazing it wasn't your usual good and bad story, the hero also had a weakness, he was fighting against his own family, his loved ones and yet he felt that besides all this he needed to protect the Earth and its people from his own blood.
This is a great anime, real story and characters not that crap of stupid magic and ninjas like Naruto and Yu gi oh.
hey, naruto is great in my opinion. a boy hated for things he can't control but is still willing to travel his own path, defend others, and follow what he believes is to me as cool as what happens in tekkaman.
Tekkaman is different because it wasn't marketed to appeal to kids and sell cards/games/toys and what not.If people like it its their choice, but Im sick of having to deal with people who only talk about naruto 24/7.Teknoman is and always will be my fav. anime, it left me with a great impression as I was growing up, the shows of today hardly are as epic, interesting or provide something valuable to today's youth.
There are shows that are made for selling merchandise others to tell a good story.
The american media market almost always finds a way to screw with things. naruto was originally made for teens, and even though it had a lot of product sales in japan, it still was able to get it themes of find one place and pushing forward even when its hard. teknoman was one of the show that made me fall in love with anime. All i can say is don't let other people's hype keep you from seeing what the creator wants to portray in his work. anime is an artform for a reason.
Actually, no it doesn't. The US Teknoman had NO nudity and very little gore. Though, Tekkaman Blade itself had very little nudity.
If you're going by the version on the DVDs, that's the international dub. The US dub was censored a lot more than that. To my knowledge, you can't buy the US dub anywhere.
I have the original series on DVD. The english dub that was released on DVD is the international version that was shown in Austrailia and some other places. The US got it's own version with increased censoring. They changed Blade's name to Slade and Dagger was called Gunner. To date, you CAN'T buy the US dub anywhere, since it was never even finished..
I was into anime before I watched Teknoman, but it's one of those animes that 1) Wasn't COMPLETELY butchered for the US version 2) Had some great voice acting for a dub from 95 and 3) has held up over the years. I have the original Tekkaman Blade DVD (Import, not the recently released boxset) and I still watch it to this day and it is miles better than anime today. Heck my top three favorite anime are all from the early 90s (Sailor Moon, Tekkaman Blade and G Gundam)
they just release this on dvd, you may find it at best buy or any other movie stores, is two volumes but is under the original japanese name tekkaman, just wanted to let you guys know, this show rules!!!
this used to be on sundays and i watched every episode. i haven't been able to find it on dvd. is their any out there that might know where i might find it authetic or bootleg i don't care i miss this show.
I remember this one from '96! I got out of bed early for this one but only after I watched a few episodes and warmed up to the plot and characters. Sadly, once I started getting into it, Teknoman got pulled for some stupid reason! Thanks UPN!
To this day, I STILL don't know why it got pulled...especially since the entire series was already dubbed in English. I originally thought that they were going to have a "second season" when they restarted the series after episode 26, but then they screwed us over with their new lineup. I didn't finish the series until 2003 when I bought the DVD
it's al about the ratings. BTW I feel the same way. The first time I watched it, I didn't know what I was watching. Thought it swas cool and really got into it. then they pulled it and I was upset and angry.
GREAT VIDEO! The creators of technoman would be proud. By the way, if anyone's gonna talk smack about this, then let it be known that all the original openings that I've seen have only gotten 4 stars. This one has FIVE!
Toonami started in late 96 I believe. But yeah, I always wondered why Sci-fi didn't pick it up. It's right up their alley after all.
I still like the original japanese openings, but the Teknoman opening was damn easy on the ears and it set the mood pretty well. Hell, all the music in the dub was great.
While normally I far prefer the original Japanese openings (hell I love subbed stuff period), the Technoman version of Tekkaman Blade is a HELVALOT better sounding. I remember seeing this back when UPN just started, and also wondering WTF was it when Toonami started and WHY didn't they show it on there?! At least put it up on Adult Swim!
Um. Anyone can see that. Plus it's painfully obvious that I made this myself. It's an alternate in that I made it myself. I even said in the info that "I made this a few years ago by splicing together the english opening with scenes from Tekkaman Blade II
i miss this anime show the most of all anime i have ever seen.i cant quite remember the name of the station though it played on. the only episode i can remember is the one were slade uses his ability to transform and suffers as he fights foir his life against a red tekno and wins in the end. god i miss this show and i just love the theme song. if anyone has it please tell me if you can send it to my e-mail message me if you can, and thank you for the post. ou did an amazing job my friend.
Thanks for the compliments. This seems to be the favorite out of all my videos. lol
Anyway, in the US, Teknoman was shown Sundays at 11:30 on UPN from 96-97. We only got the first 26 episodes though. The version that you can buy in stores now is actually the austrailian version
Very nicely done intro. IMHO, a lot better than the first American version intro, although it is a bit on the long side to be considered for use on a 20 minute episode. Still, great stuff. Excellent work.
This freaking rocked. I remember his sister Scarla (I THINK that's how it's spelled). I know what happens in the first season, I'm not spilling it. But sweet none the less dude/gal.
Hahaha the dubbed version is not bad, I watched all of them as a kid in the UK and the names were not made retarded like the american version. Blade was called Blade/Nick and the others had their names.
Yeah,I'm gonna agree with Ronansensei. The English version was a lot better. The announcer made it. Darkon's lines were great, but I love when they talk about the "Mysteriosu young man named,Slade." Awesome job:)!
I love the English version. This is the stuff of childhood memories. "When I descend upon the Earth, Darkness will unfurls its banner upon yet another region of the cosmos!"
My opinion most awesome mecha anime of all the time.Bye

D-boy is such a dumb fucking name for a adult man who transforms into a killing machine.
I bet you wish they kept Maggie as a homo cross-dresser to fulfill your fanboy fantasies.
Ashenwraith 3 years ago
But I have another reason for wishing that they kept his name as D-boy.
In the original, he had three names. D-boy, Aiba Takaya, and Blade.
In the dub he has two. Blade and Nick Carter. When he loses his memory after using blastor mode, he insists that everyone call him by his given name, never having heard the name Blade before, which makes no sense because Blade is his "tekno-name". Even if he forgets everything else, he knows that his name is Blade.
magishinex 3 years ago
"D-boy" is never his name, it just some stupid nickname Noal came up with.
It makes sense that the weaker the memory then the more likely it would be lost.
The name Blade is about 1 year old compared to a life of being called Nick.
His name is also not really Blade, that's just what the teknomen call him.
Would you more likely remember magishinex on youtube than the name family and friends called you your entire life?
Ashenwraith 3 years ago
Actually, Blade IS his name as well as Nick. By Blade's admission when he went over his origin, the tekno-process wipes out the original's identity and gives him a new name. Considering that he never forgot he was a teknoman, to suddenly forget his name was a little weak. Also, he didn't say anything about it when Saber called him Blade.
It made more sense that he would forget D-boy since it was just a nickname humans gave him and not the one Radham ingrained into him.
magishinex 3 years ago
You're confused.
Ashenwraith 3 years ago
You're not understand what I'm saying.
I never said the process wipes out memories. Instead, it imparts an identity to them. It's encoded in their insticts, which is why Blade knew his name right after his father saved him. Out of everything he went through, one thing he always knew. That he was a Teknoman named blade. So it's a little fishy that he didn't remember he was called Blade, but remembered that he could transform and all.
magishinex 3 years ago
You seem to forget the whole part out about tissue degeneration and that he was losing his memories.
Memory loss that affects the most recent memories which is why...
- He forgot about Pegas, yet still remembered his crystal.
- He forgot his name Blade and remembered Nick.
- He forgot his relationship with Star, but remembered Kain.
- He forgot his younger sister, but remembered his older brother Conrad.
Ashenwraith 3 years ago
The thing is though, the storyline worked better with three names, since it's a little weird that he would forget his Teknoname, something that was implanted into him by the process. Even in the end, when he forgot everything, he still remembered he was a teknoman. No matter what he went through and forgot, there was still something telling him he was a teknoman.
Forgetting the nickname D-boy made more sense than him forgetting his Tekno-name Blade.
magishinex 3 years ago
You are not looking deep into the story enough.
When blade's father rescues him he asks him if he is still Nick and blade is a bit confused about being Nick.
When Shara escapes the teknopod early she doesn't even know herself as rapier, only as Shara.
This proves that any 'implanting' of the name is not a strong memory.
Ashenwraith 3 years ago
But was Shara EVER called Rapier in the series? I know the unfinished US version fucked up and gave that name to Lance(and gave Lance to Sword) One could say that Shara wasn't far enough into the teknosystem to get a name. She WAS more incomplete than Blade after all. She escaped willingly while Blade was broken out by his father.
I DID forget about Shara though, so I give you credit for bringing it up. But you still have to factor in her being incomplete.
magishinex 3 years ago
The US version kinda screwed up, but in the Japanese version she is clearly known as Miyuki for the bulk of the time.
Anyways, its pretty obvious D-boy is a dumb name regardless.
Could you really take your GF seriously if she's crying and calling you "D-boy" or "magishinex"?
In fact all the name changes were good. Commander Jameson instead of his other NAZI like name (Japanese always seem obsessed with NAZIs).
Ashenwraith 3 years ago
Well in the japanese version, Blade never forgot his name, so that point is moot.
I'm not saying that D-boy is the greatest name in the world, but it fits. You're welcome to your opinion. Plus, it helped his facade in the first half when he had everyone convinced he lost his memory.
The name changes weren't bad. Saber was a lot better than Evil. Blade and Saber. It just works.
Speaking of name changes, I would have LOVED to see them try to talk their way out of making Sword in the US version
magishinex 3 years ago
And after reading the part about being taken seriously, I'm reminded of Aki and Takaya in the Missing Link special. And also how she said his name seductively in the english dub of TBII
magishinex 3 years ago
All of the name changes are better, that's why they changed them.
And also one of the things you are forgetting is that the English dub is much more superior in that they match the lips really well, even when pronouncing things.
In the Japanese version you see their mouths move and no sound often and when you do hear sounds it rarely matches well.
Ashenwraith 3 years ago
Again, that's your opinion. I don't really have a problem with the name changes, but they changed them probably because they didn't want Japanese names on the show. A lot of anime dubbed in the mid 90s did that.
I have seen how the english version is better at matching the lip movement, but only one scene comes to mind. When Blade gets nuked, Star screams "He's gone Ringo!" which matches what's being said as opposed to Aki, who just screams "D-Boy!"
I haven't really noticed it anywhere else.
magishinex 3 years ago
Its better in every episode -- watch them side-by-side and you will clearly see it.
Sadly anime is not localized and that's why we have such crappy translations, dialogue and story, not just in anime, but also games.
Just look at every game that came out of Square Enix after Chrono Trigger -- none of them make sense.
But anyways most anime and games out today suck, so I guess it doesn't matter -- too bad quality went out the window.
Ashenwraith 3 years ago
There's some anime out there that have been localized and it tends to suck. Sailor Moon comes to mind. They tried to edit out most of the japanese text and all references to Japan. Yu-gi-oh is another one.
For the most part I agree however. Anime nowadays isn't like it was back before it became "mainstream".
As for games...eh, there have been a few games I've enjoyed from S-E after CT, but they're pretty few and far inbetween.
magishinex 3 years ago
actually in the japanese ver. saber/Evil did refer to miyuki/shara as Rapier after she got out of the pod
neptune04 3 years ago

Biankito 3 years ago
hey, naruto is great in my opinion. a boy hated for things he can't control but is still willing to travel his own path, defend others, and follow what he believes is to me as cool as what happens in tekkaman.
yugioh, dumb show but fun games
jamcalx 3 years ago
Tekkaman is different because it wasn't marketed to appeal to kids and sell cards/games/toys and what not.If people like it its their choice, but Im sick of having to deal with people who only talk about naruto 24/7.Teknoman is and always will be my fav. anime, it left me with a great impression as I was growing up, the shows of today hardly are as epic, interesting or provide something valuable to today's youth.
There are shows that are made for selling merchandise others to tell a good story.
Biankito 3 years ago 2
The american media market almost always finds a way to screw with things. naruto was originally made for teens, and even though it had a lot of product sales in japan, it still was able to get it themes of find one place and pushing forward even when its hard. teknoman was one of the show that made me fall in love with anime. All i can say is don't let other people's hype keep you from seeing what the creator wants to portray in his work. anime is an artform for a reason.
jamcalx 3 years ago
lol, the japanese naruto still sucks more than your average pg-13 movie.
Plz, it's just a rehashed dbz with ninja kids.
The US dub of tekkaman blade has nudity and gore, WTF is your whiny point?
Ashenwraith 3 years ago
Actually, no it doesn't. The US Teknoman had NO nudity and very little gore. Though, Tekkaman Blade itself had very little nudity.
If you're going by the version on the DVDs, that's the international dub. The US dub was censored a lot more than that. To my knowledge, you can't buy the US dub anywhere.
darknessraven14 3 years ago
lol bullshit -- I have it on DVD.
It shows full nudity when rapier transforms and has full gore, including the scene where lance cuts a guy in half.
It is fully voiced in English during these scenes so the nudity and gore was taken out by Fox.
If you can't even find the English dub then why are you making crap Raven?
Ashenwraith 3 years ago
Also, the english version with full gore and nudity used to be uploaded on youtube, but they took down all of the episodes.
Ashenwraith 3 years ago
I have the original series on DVD. The english dub that was released on DVD is the international version that was shown in Austrailia and some other places. The US got it's own version with increased censoring. They changed Blade's name to Slade and Dagger was called Gunner. To date, you CAN'T buy the US dub anywhere, since it was never even finished..
darknessraven14 3 years ago
I was into anime before I watched Teknoman, but it's one of those animes that 1) Wasn't COMPLETELY butchered for the US version 2) Had some great voice acting for a dub from 95 and 3) has held up over the years. I have the original Tekkaman Blade DVD (Import, not the recently released boxset) and I still watch it to this day and it is miles better than anime today. Heck my top three favorite anime are all from the early 90s (Sailor Moon, Tekkaman Blade and G Gundam)

I remember this one from '96! I got out of bed early for this one but only after I watched a few episodes and warmed up to the plot and characters. Sadly, once I started getting into it, Teknoman got pulled for some stupid reason! Thanks UPN!
Starhawk73 4 years ago
To this day, I STILL don't know why it got pulled...especially since the entire series was already dubbed in English. I originally thought that they were going to have a "second season" when they restarted the series after episode 26, but then they screwed us over with their new lineup. I didn't finish the series until 2003 when I bought the DVD

GREAT VIDEO! The creators of technoman would be proud. By the way, if anyone's gonna talk smack about this, then let it be known that all the original openings that I've seen have only gotten 4 stars. This one has FIVE!

No they dont. Most of today's anime, while good, can't hold a candle to Tekkaman Blade IMO.

Toonami started in late 96 I believe. But yeah, I always wondered why Sci-fi didn't pick it up. It's right up their alley after all.
I still like the original japanese openings, but the Teknoman opening was damn easy on the ears and it set the mood pretty well. Hell, all the music in the dub was great.
magishinex 4 years ago
While normally I far prefer the original Japanese openings (hell I love subbed stuff period), the Technoman version of Tekkaman Blade is a HELVALOT better sounding. I remember seeing this back when UPN just started, and also wondering WTF was it when Toonami started and WHY didn't they show it on there?! At least put it up on Adult Swim!
Barricade 4 years ago
Uh, this was not an alternate. You are a fraud. The scenes were cut in were from Tekkaman Blade 2. Get a life.
tekblade 4 years ago
Um. Anyone can see that. Plus it's painfully obvious that I made this myself. It's an alternate in that I made it myself. I even said in the info that "I made this a few years ago by splicing together the english opening with scenes from Tekkaman Blade II
