this documentary is titled incorrectly. I was watching this hoping I would learn about the natural history of chickens....instead it's just a bunch of people talking about their chickens. don't get me wrong, I love my chickens!
look at those comments, who knew people were so passionate about chickens! So glad, we need to make better ways to care for laying and other chickens. I raised Bantams as a kid, best chickens ever. They do kill each other though. Even as chicks.
these guys had no right to sue him he lived in the country on ag land mindin his own buisiness if you dont liek crowing MOVE TO THE CITY they were stuck up PRICKS
Also cotton is not a silkie he is a mutt he has a single comb
this should not be used as a reliable source they have multiple false information
@LeghornBreeder I disagree with you there. From what I could ascertain from the video, when they moved there, there was not 100 roosters crowing non-stop throughout the day. Then the neighbor decides to raise 100 roosters that won't shut up, EVER. The judge even let him keep 5 roosters which many people would consider excessive (i don't). But the guy keeping 100 roosters was obviously nuts...
these guys had no right to sue him he lived in the country on ag land mindin his own buisiness if you dont liek crowing MOVE TO THE CITY they were stuck up PRICKS
Um....I have 6 hens and, although I love them dearly, I watched this video and had one thought consistently go through my mind: WTF. I have one thing to say to Mrs Cotton. "HE'S A FREAKIN CHICKEN!" Did I honestly just see her carry a chicken into the grocery store like he's a yorkie? Even the people who carry yorkies in their handbags are weird, let alone a chicken. Did the director intentionally find bats*** crazy people for this film?
That lady is so sweet with Cotton. She treats him like that's her child. I wonder though, is that the best "natural" life for him? McDonald's? "Panties"? eeew.
battery cages and the like are cruel .....that aside, i think the most stunning of this video was a chicken with a freakin diaper on it! Didn't anyone else watch this video? HELLO PEOPLE! I have hens myself and enjoy raising them for the eggs. They are fun to watch BUT I am not going to be taking my chickens for a swim then to the salon for a BLOW DRY! Really?
Seeing the chickens warehoused in tiny wire cages on factory farms breaks my heart. It amazes me that "civilized" people can be so cruel to another living being. If they were puppies, people would be outraged, there'd be laws protecting them and factory farm owners would be jailed. But because it's a chicken, it's alright to torture them?? I don't understand it, and I hope I never do.
'scuse me, but kfc is disgusting. you are ingesting chickens that have been pumped full of antibiotics. take a hard look at where your food comes from, and you might not be so eager to eat that crap.
@CrazyTrain903 I know everyone has different tastes and that's okay! I just know that food like that is poor quality, and with the rise in obesity and health problems in the US, I choose to be healthy into my old age. Eat crappy, and your body will treat you the same. I'm not saying you have to be a saint, but try eating healthy for a month and cut out junk---you will stop craving it and you'll have a helluva lot more energy. Kind of a no-brainer, if you ask me.
>>Sorry working in the computer room at Wal*Mart inputing
>>UPC codes does not make you a software writer.
Since you're trying to turn this into an interweb dick waving session, I'll both agree and acquiesce: I work at Walmart entering UPC codes that happen to coincide as a series opcodes that, when loaded into an executable address as indexed by an appropriate OS process control block on the appropriate hardware platform, perform EPON simulations, but don't let the shift manager, Ted, know.
Battery cages for egg hens are cruel and despicable. Anyone who does that to an animal deserves to be killed. How can humans be so callous, cruel, and uncaring?
@orionluckystar guess what, every time you go to KFC or buy eggs at the grocery store, or buy chicken to bake or grill... you patronize those you are calling callous, cruel, and uncaring. That makes you the enabler and thus you are just as bad as they are.
@2ndtolastfilms I do not eat meat, and I do not buy store bought eggs. I keep pet chickens that provide my family with eggs. They are housed and cared for properly as pets. I stand by my statement. Battery cages are a despicable practice that no intelligent, thinking, caring human being would ever inflict upon another living creature. Those who do are nothing less than evil.
I'm not sure if you're being sarcastic, but the man who raised them on the farm didn't seem emotionally or intellectually stunted. In fact, he shines as the voice of reason in this whole program.

I ate KFC the other day, and I'll tell you right now: cruelty is the tastiest of 11 herbs and spices.
Why do I eat KFC? Because unlike the hippies, I have a job and can afford such.

That's not saying much considering KFC is low grade trash, but I understand if your Wal*Mart job makes it seem like 5 star dining.

As an addendum, I'd like to add that Walmart probably outsources the UPC entry to India and simply downloads the database...
But you got me; I work at a Walmart in India
