  • I agree with @AllThat77 this song should be sung by a Dramatic or Spinto Soprano

  • A lovely voice with beautiful tone but not suitable for this song.

  • Wow! Keep up the good work - you have a promising career ahead of you!

  • that was great!

  • You have a gorgeous tone. Very sweet and clear. Keep up the good work!

  • Well done! Keep up the good work and thanks for sharing.

  • Folks, where is the spirit of encouragement? She has a good voice, quite young with lots of room for growth. Good even sound, lots of potential.

  • BAby your a Soprano!!

  • Its too slow! Nice voice though.

  • Beautiful voice, but you would be better suited for Clara not Serena. This aria has to grip the listener and really requires a full dramatic/spinto soprano who can chest the below the staff as well as soar up top.

  • I agree with you. She has a nice voice but their is a passion to this song that I don't hear. She seems to just be singing. A dramatic Soprano or even a dramatic Mezzo with a good range and great control. The soprano would probaly be more suited because of her ability to sustain but the power of a dramatic mezzo... WOW I would love to hear her voice dance.

  • I agree too. Absolutely beautiful voice... but the plaintiveness over the situation is missing, the pathos... this is too technical.

BUT-- that will all probably come with time, and LIVING. This is a very young artist... she has super potential... beautifully talented young woman.

  • @20caratstone. I agree, too. Now that you can sing beautifully, forget about making beautiful rounded notes and let yourself get into it. it's the difference between singing a piece and performing a piece of music. keep up the good work!

  • Both Serena and Clara are perfectly suited for a lyric soprano... this comment makes no sense.

  • Are you familiar with Porgy and Bess?!? Serena and Clara are two completely different roles and any lyric soprano worth her salt, and possessing good technique would never sing Serena. Sorry buddy, but you're wrong on that one.

  • Very familiar... in fact I just saw it last year at the Lyric Opera for about the fifth time. Clara and Serena were played by Laquita Mitchell and Jonita Lattimore respectively. Look them up. You'll find they are BOTH lyric sopranos. And with that your argument has been shot down.

  • @AllThat77

Very true! This is a dramatic sopranos song in every respect!

  • WOW! Gave me the chills!

  • You have to forget all that classical stuff!! and just sing and know thats is gonna fall into place cuz uve Practiced it enough...now its time to act!...Beautiful sound though!

  • good job!

    forget the classical stuff?

She sounds pretty good and her technique is what makes her sound good. are you a singer? MusicBoy403? Because to say "forget the classical stuff" is to tell her to forget her technique and this song sounds best sung classically

  • Maybe u misunderstood, or didnt read the comment close enough. The role in which she is portraying causes one to have to go outside of ones self. That is, after u've received ur training, u've establish a technique, and u've practiced it to the Nth degree, u then have to become a good actor/actress to convay wut u want the character to say or the emotions of that person. So for me to say "forget that classical stuff", is to say that ur making it to pretty and u need to come out of urself! ;-)

  • I do agree with the comments below

I saw this sone live, just yesterday

Henriette Davis I believe played the role of Serena

    she was just amazing

the feeling with the song, she was really breathtaking

I do hope you get as far as she did ;)

  • You really do sound wonderful, but like the last comment said, let go a little more. I've seen people almost on the floor singing this one. You've got a great voice though!!

  • i was thinking of singing this song for a next recital of mine (i'm a mezzo too! heh.) but anyway, d'you think it would be too much to be on the floor singing it? Because I love to get really into to characters of any aria I'm singing.

  • Hmmm. First off, are you sure you're a mezzo? Lol! That's quite a number for a mezzo... but good for you having the pipes! About being on the floor, I mean, I wouldn't start there. I wouldn't even necessarily end up totally horizontal... I think choreographing a falling on the knees while singing thing could be really really effective. Totally feel you on the getting into character thing; I love singing stuff from Dido. Great for that! Let me know what you think, and good luck!:)

  • oooh yeah. I'm totally a mezzo, but I love so many soprano songs, and I can sing fairly high.

I always thought Serena sounded much better with a darker tone anyway. :D

    thanks!

  • More feeling hun! You'd be so much better if you got into this song.

  • sehri you sound great!
