  • well done man! this is one of my fav songs from Rush!!

    Keep it up!

  • @HairHawk72 Thanks!

  • This has always been one of my favorite Rush songs, along with Freewill, with everyone just fucking wailing on their respective instruments during the solo parts... I freaking love it. good job man.

  • Love it - the notes were so distinct. It's a harder bass part than I though. I'll come back to this when I find time to learn this one...

  • @aclaar877 Thank you!

  • great tone¡¡what kind of amplifier are you using?

  • very good tone and cover...what kind of amplifier are you using?does that fender sound better than a standard jazzbass?

  • Geddy and Alex 'outdid' themselves on this track... and so did you, awesome performance!!

the bass line during the guitar solo is especially impressive...

  • I think this song would be incredible if it didn't have the cheesy '80s pop reverb sound. fantastic cover! it was flawless.

  • graet cover!!!! amazing album!!!!

  • Well played indeed!! Nice right hand technique. Sell me that Rick, I'm having a heck of a time finding a vintage 4001.

    Keep em' coming

  • this song is absolutly amazing.......

  • Well done. Great tone. Do you record directly into your computer? I agree with Javic2112 (below) on your use of the triplets that are a critical part of Geddy's style. I love his bass lines during the solo sections during this period of RUSH; they just go off in their own direction.

  • @TJH3113 Thanks! This and Bangkok were recorded with my current process. I have been striving for a good sounding mix (with hit and miss results) from my start with YouTube. I'm currently using a 4 channel Mackie Mixer. My LowDown LD175 amp direct out into channel 1 and Mp3 music into another. Then directly into my Sony video MiniDV Camcorder's mic input.

  • @wnils Seems to be working well for you. How was Bastille Day done?

  • @TJH3113 That was just the internal mic on the camcorder. I think it sounded ok but I get a much cleaner sound now. I can more easily make (reproducible) changes to the mix now also.

  • Great tone ! Excellent playing ! Remains the 90's stuff! U r really good at those triplets notes at 1:49 and 1:59 and so...Impressive solo part ! Great vid dude !

  • @Javic2112 Thank you so very much for your comments Javic2112. Much appreciated.

  • Really nice job - I've always loved this song. The tone you're using really fits the song well too - are you using a chorus effect or something?

  • Hey thanks. Yes, a little bit of chorus...not much...just a bit. Good ear! :)

  • Very well played, i really like your tone too. though i have to wonder wasnt the original played all on bass pedals while geddy played keys?

  • Thanks sabianrox1! I am sure your right about the pedals during some of the synth parts....but I have always played something (anything) rather than just wait for the next bass line. :)

btw.......nice drum solo you just posted! I can hear the Neil influence!

  • @wnils When I saw this performed live in that time period, it was bass pedals but only under the synth parts, for the rest Geddy was playing a WAL, although I think on the Power Windows album a Steinberger would have been used.

  • Yea....that was what I remember as well. It's all Geddy classic mid eighties style bass and then me filling in for bass pedals under the synth parts.

Sure would be awesome if they would resurrect this one live! Thanks for the input gr1moire2112.......

  • @sabianrox1 Just the parts under the synth were bass pedals.

  • @sabianrox1 During the synth parts was bass pedals, but the rest was on bass.

  • I like it....Nice playing.

  • Thank-you
