  • i miss this ,,churches of today are not the same.i miss the good old fashioned gospel.

  • david phelps is amazing i have seen him a few times and was able to meet him great guy. him and jason crabb 2 of the best in the business.

  • God bless you hoover4000 for those 1.211 videos. !

  • i love this kind of music. my mom loves david phelps. cant wait til they come back to texas!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • they can blow

  • All I can say is... Take me Lord Jesus, I'm ready to go and live in that land of Peace, and Love, and Joy... :) In Jesus Name... Amen

  • Chill bumps lol

  • You know, there is nothing like singing your heart out in praise to God. I tell ya, every time I do I feel the presence of God fill my soul. That presence grows even stronger when I'm singing with a group of people who also pour out their love for God in their song.

  • the best job on this song was done by The Chuck Wagon Gang this is to rocky i think when you sing a song it should be done the right way DON'T ROCK IT

  • Here is the thing. If neither Kim nor David inspired you to at least think about our savior, then both would likely say they failed. Glory be to the most high!

  • I get goose bumps every time I hear him sing what an amazing voice

  • Mary John flew away.

  • Mary John flew away last night and now she is on God's celestial shore.

  • ?????? is there a limit to his range. he is superb

  • wonderful!!!

  • KIM HOPPER ROCKZ THISSSSSSS!!

  • He hit an E flat naturally? No head voice? I'm stunned

  • @MrSmackdab since you know music i think can you please go look for get up get ready 2000 by the gold city and tell me the highest note that tenor hit there it was unreal

  • Eb? really? E flat??

  • Kim Hopper shouts..... that is not singing loud...

as for the other 'singer' well he's not Tom Jones is he....

over all.... this is not all that good

  • @only1McBoyd Thumbs up if you think that anyone whose standard of good singing is Tom Jones should keep their opinions to themselves when it comes to music.

  • @only1McBoyd The old adage, If you can't say something nice, say nothing at all" really seems to fit here. I love Tom Jones's voice, but to say that David Phelps isn't very good?...my, my :*))

Look beyond the voices ( that you don't think are very good) and enjoy the worship in their hearts and song.

    God bless

  • @only1McBoyd You are perfectly retarded are you not? David Phelps has a voice that is pure and controlled. Tom Jones is not qualified to hold David Phelps's sheet music you idiot.

  • For anyone who desires a biblical understanding of the gospel and salvation, I would highly recommend checking out the scribd website that is listed on my channel.

  • There's a reason God didn't give me a voice like Kim Hopper. I'd be stopping people on the street saying, "Let me sing to ya"... I'd have an ego the size of Texas.

  • @Sweetbug74 I would be the same way if I could sing like David Phelps or play the piano like Anthony Berger.

  • I agree with you gregrfy I come to youtube to listen to the music that I grew up singing in the church pews. The churches no longer sing these type songs anymore. The Hymnals are a thing of the past. I love this type of music.

  • @redneck452004 I must be blessed, my Church still sings southern gospel style with the old hymns. But there are not many left that do this, too many going to the "repeat a chorus 17 times and then it finally ends". They may only get 2 songs in at the most because of how they drag on singing the same chorus line over and over til it bores people to death. But I come to youtube, because it's hard to find any southern or bluegrass gospel on the Christian Music radio channels.

  • Don't leave Kim out... she's great, too!

  • I'm not a believer, but Phelps has an impressive instrument there. ;D

  • David Phelps can SING!

  • @tharkwood can someone upload this entire video

  • I pray that one day I will see those shores

  • @bigdaddyromeo1 : Hi! and why wouldn't you "see these shores ?

  • the guy at 0:19 looks like Arthur Spooner lol

  • i like it!!.. dis is real joy!!..

  • I can't believe that Guy Penrod is caught on camera chewing gum and not singing at 2:39 - OOPS! lol

  • I purchased the CD that has this track on it this past weekend and put it on "repeat" for a 2 hour trip in the car. I attempted to his this note with David every time the part came up. I am going to see the ear, nose, and throat specialist in the morning....

  • Dude is the best. Hands down. Best voice of any singer, any genre.

  • i listen to david phelps, but i've never heard of kim hopper, she sure can sing though!

  • woop woop woop greeeat

  • i love davids voice i dnt even no why but his great =) and gospel rockz

  • Jesus is real

  • Beautiful!

  • that was... INCREDIBLE

  • I just love David Phelp's voice. He has definitely been blessed and it is great to see that he uses it in doing God's work. This is one of the best renditions of this song I've ever seen. That you so much for posting it!

  • ok who is the blonde woman who shows up about 30 seconds into the video?

  • During my dad's final days, one of my nieces put together a video of his life and included another version of this in the background music. We was able to watch the video with us just a couple of days before he died. After seeing it he said "I just saw my life flash before my eyes."

After not moving for two days he suddenly sat up and reached out with open hands to those awaiting him. As my sister said "fly away Daddy" he laid back and closed his eyes and did.

  • @eyes1a What a wonderful testimony he left,

  • @eyes1a

What a wonderful testimony your father left behind him.

    Merrilee

  • This is nice.

  • Sure miss Anthony!

  • What a grand heavenly party we have to look forward to!

  • does anyone have this exact song on mp3 file????

  • THIS whole Christian culture I never knew existed...INCREDIBLE singers.I just discovered David Phelps..IM in awe and shock..I ve never heard a voice like that..Its UNREAL..I just wish that..Oh nevermind....

  • ha ha:)) an Eb5 and ... so easy for him... and those C5 and C#5 before that Eb5 sounds like ..... nobody can do that...such powerfull

  • @dadadadasad since you know music i think can you please go look for get up get ready 2000 by the gold city and tell me the highest note that tenor hit there it was unreal

  • elc.9,10 read it

  • Wow David! What a voice! I love this song.

  • Amazing soloists!!! David is absolutely fantastic.

So is the guy's face at 0:41! haha!

  • Its 2:14 am and I'm working on my thesis and being inspired by this music ... thanks for making me chukle :)

  • My Mother flew away last week. This recording played over and over at the visitation.....as background music for a video my niece had put together. This song really helped turn a sad event into a joyous event. That great Phelps voice will stick in my mind for eternity.

  • I love that song, but I think all that clapping really detracted from it.

  • great song...i love it...and respect for David it's the BEST :)

  • I can't wait to fly away, like a bird from prison bars have flown. Amen . Thank you Jesus.

  • It's amazing how many people from this video have gone home to the Lord. The Goodmans, Jake Hess, Dottie Rambo, and Anthony Burger.

  • I love the song. I'm thrilled at the performance. I have the greatest respect and admiration for the talent of the performers and unless god speaks for himself, it's all a fable as far as I'm concerned.

  • God has spoken for himself. What he has said is recorded in the Bible. At various times he has spoken directly to man, he has spoken through the prophets, and finally, by his own Son, Jesus Christ. Read Romans 1:19,20 BTW, what you or I believe does not change the truth. Guessing is not wise.

  • To add to your point, this song is also referring to the RAPTURE too...in 1st Thessalonians 4:16-18: "...the dead in Christ shall rise first.". The truth is what sets us free my friend. Knowledge is the beginning of the fear of the Lord. It is a good thing to put our trust in Jesus Christ our Lord only.

  • God has spoken. The invisible attributes are found everywhere. The complexity of life, the way that the solar system is in place, the miracles he has performed in my life and most of the lives of people I know. It gets to a point when there's no room for doubt, at least that has been my experience. If you want Him to speak to you, all you have to do is pray to him and ask him to show himself in a real way. It will take some diligence. The stakes are too high to count it as a fable,if it isn't.

  • There is tooo many evidence to prove God exists to even put an "if" on God. Thus saith the Lord, MAN IS WITHOUT ANY EXCUSE....Romans 1:19-22.

  • well, that's probably because you're ignorant of God's word, airste172. All the prophecies that were supposed to happen did. Jesus fulfilled over 300 prophecies concerning the Messiah. Just from a statistical point of view, you can't refute it. Einstein said the universe couldn't be made in any other way; that it was made with such precision that just a slight variation would make it not work.

  • AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Effortless. Godbless you more

  • Thank God I truly believe it is just going to be only a few more weary days and we believers are about to "fly away". The old ship of Zion is about to sail....Praise GOD!!!

  • That's the way to sing that song! great

  • I grew up with this kind of music . . . sad that most churches are moving away from the good ol classics

  • @BigNavy73 i agree the new stuff cant hold a candle to the old

  • @BigNavy73 - I agree it's a classic, but "old" not so much. To my knowledge it was written by a blind black Chicago musician named Jim Bruer. I had the privilege of driving him home to the west side following his nightly performances in a far north side bar during a week in the early 80s. He was, I'm guessing inn his 70 at the time.

  • @BigNavy73 Me too. Every now and then I have to go to youtube and listen to music from my past.

  • So many of those in that video have gone on to Gloryland. But man they left us a great legacy

  • this is my 3rd attempt to post, lol!

Okay, short and sweet: I thought, when I heard this, that the male singer was Matthew Ward. I now realize that it is David Phelps, and that I got to see and hear him live at a Billy Graham crusade a few years ago. He was singing with the Gaither Vocal Band, and at first I was disappointed that Mark Lowry was not singing with them. David's voice more than compensated for Lowry's absence. I grew up with the Gaithers, and love these videos. Praise God!

  • Ooooh, this one gives me goosebumps, thinking of that wonderful day. My brother and I used to sing this on the way home from church. He 'flew away' from us at age 9, and I can't wait til we are all united again, and there will be no more separation or death. Praise God!

  • Full-voiced Eb. Das right.

  • god bless us all i so long to fly away to the king and away from this evil world but even so come quickly lord jesus!!!!!

  • what dvd is this from love this song thanks for posting this song

  • What program or assosiation is are these concerts with? like a church or smthing? or a tv program?

  • These are part of the Bill Gaither concerts/videos that began with the original video "Homecoming Friends"

  • um high Eb David? Seriously?? That is absolutely insane!

  • OMG! Before I SAW Kim Hopper and I just heard her i was sure she was BLACK with a voice like that! Holy moly! And David Phelps? Don't even get me started! He sings my face off!! lol! Praise God for this! Hope u all had a VERY merry Christmas! XOXXO

  • lol David Phelps also sounds black, really He does. When i first Heard Jonathan StockStill sing, i thought He was Black.

  • That's one bang up awesome brass band!

  • awesome

  • someone correct me if i'm wrong, but i'm pretty sure that e flat at the end is the highest recorded full-voice note david's ever sung.

  • I'm not entirely sure that it was full voiced... Could be a meaty mix

  • he hits Fs on other video, i just don't remember where. But ya, F!!

  • he hits an F on "when god dips his love" i've posted a video of that on here as well

  • thanks!

  • i think i'm flying now listening to this!

  • I can't wait to fly away! Come Lord Jesus!!

  • Kim Hopper! I remember going to see them when I was little!

  • davidfarquhar88, it's a gaither homecoming concert so google it to go to their site to find one

  • Thats fantastic cheers for that information thankyou very much from big dave in Scotland

  • david is the best.god bless you

  • cheers for that elduro0001 i love listening and watching this

  • This is great to listen to im not a christian some of these people look really happy do you know where concerts like this are held hoover 4000 more postings like this please

  • Man can he lead worship. Great voice. How can you not want to sing or worship hearing this guy?

  • Mercy at all the Homecoming people in that video that have gone on home.

  • ONCE again david is AMAZING!!

  • great vocals - love it

  • david phelps never ceases to blow me away with all the things he can do with his voice. Not many whities can riff like that. Kudos phelps that's truly a voice for the lord

  • nice version of I Fly Away

  • David Phelps and Steve Green

    I love these guys

  • This has to be my absolute favorite David Phelps performance!!

  • ...and David can sing higher than an Eb5. He sings an F5 in "God Dips His Love." He nails it full voice!

  • David is a classically trained singer--he said in an interview that his teachers wanted him to go into opera, but he wanted to pursue contemporary Christian music. He rarely utilizes his operatic voice when singing now because of the style of his music he chooses to sing. A similar example is Mariah Carey. She is also trained in opera, but you don't hear her using when singing pop music. It has nothing to do with David not being able to sing as well now--it is a stylistic choice.

  • Awesome.

  • that song gives me chills everytime! love it!

  • David can still hit all the same notes hes ever hit and his music is still amazing if not better. Trully a voice for our Lord.

  • Is it true that David can hit an E below the bass cleff? And E2, I think it's called?

  • Yes Sam, David sings an E(2) in his song 'Just As I Am'.

  • david phelps is the most powerfull tenor living on earth right as you can hear in this song between 1.53 1.54 minutes those are not human for a man what a vocal range man truly a blessed singer i'm a singer as well i'm a very high pitch tenor but what he does incredible i can reach those notes but what he does he does it easily i have to push veru hard too reach those notes man thank god ur still alive god bless you keep up the good work michael with blessing regards

  • This was my Grandpas favorite song i sure miss him he was a real man of virtue lived in Whitehorse, Yukon Canada, far from any town 80 miles away in a log cabin where i was born also, but He was a true man of God. Thank you for posting this memmory

  • David's singing at this point in his career was just superb. Infectious!

  • This is amazing unfortunately david does not sing this well anymore

  • >?? Are you sure, I would say he is still pretty incredible

  • i believe he still sings as well. Just that he sings more conteporary instead of southern gospels.

  • he still does, but hes realized that he cant sing like this for much longer and still keep his voice. if he sung like this now, he would burn out his voice. he did it back then cuz his voice was still developing and VERY!!! flexible. now its settling into his more natural range, which is still huge

  • wow.....that Eb5 is powerful and clear. Awesome stuff....rock on David.

  • what does the 5 mean after the Eb? to me, it's just an Eb...i'm confused.

  • The 5 tells you where it's at on the piano. C4 is middle C

  • the 5 means that, from the left of the piano, its the fifth Eb in order

  • The 5 tells us what octave the Eb is in.

  • pan' la urma o asa melodie ce misca: inima sau piciorul?

  • amandoua:P:)

  • most of them are baptist or pentecostal

  • @hoover4000 Well I am neither, I am a United Methodist and we love gospel too!

  • its either baptist or charasmatic....u cant really be sure these days:D

  • David hits an E flat in his chest voice and holds it for two measures. That is three halfsteps higher than pavarotti's infamous high C in "Pour Mon Ame" and four halfsteps higher than the high B in "Nessun Dorma". And he looks like he is having so much fun doing it. He is simply one of the best singers of all time.

  • Agreed, David Phelps is amazing

  • High notes are hard to hit on any given day,but David makes it look effortless.I'd like to hear him or Larnelle Harris sing opera. I bet it'd be unreal. When God is singing through you, there's nothing you can't sing!

  • I am an opera singer and I would love to see david sing opera. He would have to make some style adjustments in his vocal approach but there is no doubt he would be great bel canto/ lyric tenor. He would make a great Arturo in Bellini's I Puritani

  • I agree aspsingr...I would love to hear David take on I Puritani because David has that F(5) in him!!

  • It's actually mixed he sings it in. But I know he can sing in Eb in chest. He sings a high E in "Everything Good" towards the end. I can't believe he has a 3 octave range in chest alone. I'm jealous.

  • Their "religion" is Christian. Their "denomination" is probably Baptist. Thank you for uploading the video clip!

  • pentacostal

  • Holy moly! David Phelps can blow!!!! What a great version of this song... sent chills down my spine! Praise God!!!!

  • Phelps hits a high Eb!!! for any of you who know music, thats pretty freaking amazing. love it, love it!

  • Just curious on how you could tell...

  • He just matched that pitch with a piano.

  • Another gem - love it!!! :o)

  • I agree with all that already said "I love this song!"

  • AWESOME,AWESOME,AWESOME

  • where was this taped? does anyone know?

  • I believe it was in New Orleans.

  • such a wonderful song...so inspirational..

  • i stood up at 2:00 just like everyone else in the vid!

My granddad, Robert Donald Brosius of Jefferson Maine is an idol to us all that wish to have the faith he had. Keep on the faith!!!

    Love his grandchildren

  • this is too to AustinD88 and SP567. if you choose to believe that way, why in the world did you click on the video? just to leave a nasty comment? i mean, come on. let the people who want to listen to the song listen to it without having to put up with your negative input.

anyways, thanks for the post, hoover.

  • kim has a big voice

  • David is one of the most talented and powerful voices to ever grace the music industry, period!

  • A great song. Another triumph for the fabulous David Phelps

  • makes me wanna fly today! beautiful!

  • I don't know 'bout yall but I can't WAIT for that day! \o/\o/\o/

  • I'm there with you brother! :)

  • Wow! Powerful Song. Me and my buddies still sing this song when we get together in our college dorm room. I just love this song!

  • kim can like scream all her notes.Shes a saprano so she can sing in a high range of notes. i love her singing!

  • chritianaty is not a religion its a faith for ur information...

  • He never said that Christianity was a religion. He said "religion is silly." That is all.

  • Religion is man's futile attempt to explain who God is and the afterlife, Christianity is God coming down and telling people who he is while bringing the Kingdom of God with Him.
