They do sound slightly different. However I am only saying that from various other videos of R106B trains I have seen on YouTube. Is the 'This is a Manhattan bound N train' announcement the ones you believe are different.

all the N trains have this announcements except for R160A-2 (8653-8662) and R160B (8713-8722)

The other sets dont have the announcements too. sets below 8912 dont have them

almost all the R160B's have them. i took an 8767 set today and it had the same announcement

Wow....thats different. The 1st part of the announcement sounded like the lady from when the A train had the R-160's back in 2006!
