  • i like snap on but my bank account does not. i have a Craftsman tool box and its fine. it holds all my tools. and come on dont hook a chain to you damn box and it will not brake. ya snap on has a good top shelf but damn i dont put motors on top of my tool box so i do not need all that mess. so save your money and go to sears or lowes and you will be fine

  • only worth it if you live by your tools, even then its a little extreme. my tool box has been in the same location for 2 years why would I care about this

  • I love snap on tools, expensive? Yes. But worth it if you value quality

  • Snap-on tools are great. I personally have Mac, no real difference .. But this video is a giant Scam if you watch.. Snap on pulls the competitors weld apart because it's being pulled at a right angle to the weld, whereas Snap ons weld is at a stronger parallel orientation.. But then when they illustrate it in the competitors box the metal is still at a right angle, but the load is going to be parallel to the weld.. Which is what Snap-on just showed to be stronger..

  • @BrassAxe And the second Scam is the frame straightener.. Pay close attention.. All the other boxes have two bolts holding the brackets to the side of the boxes.. When they show the after shot of the snap on box, there is no evidence any brackets were ever there.. I work in a place where there is every type of tool box imaginable.. And snap on Boxes almost always get stress cracks in the corners.. They are over priced and over rated. Get a bolt together Mac or a Kobalt box and save your money..

  • Hand tool wise Snap on hands down. Watch out though these guys will take a mechanics soul away, while you work for free to pay off your bill. I look at it this way, if you never drove a ferrari you would never know the differance. But one you drive a ferrari you will know the difference and want one. I work at a dealer, I use Craftsman cause I see bad flat rate weeks where mechanics struggle to pay their bill down.

  • thats wrong, craftsman/waterloo/whatever else craftsman owns uses welds similar to the design of snap on to hold their tops on

  • This is the dumbest video I have ever seen. When is anyone ever going to take a high dollar box and put that kind of stress on it??? The most stress any box will take is from rolling it across the shop floor and occasionally loading it and transporting when switching employers. Either way this is a smoke and lights show to prove absolutely nothing. Only realistic wearble items are the slide bearings and latches, which aren't even in mentioned in this cheesy ad.

  • ill definitely be buying snap-on tools. in my mind they really are one of the best. but i will probably never buy a snap-on box. i need a tool box not a bomb shelter so ill spend my money on a tool box not a bomb shelter

  • This comparison of the welds and how tough the top is, is fruitless. I've never seen any tool chest by Mac, Craftsman pro series, Cornwell, and Matco fail this way. I'd rather see them ditch that unecessary beef in these areas and drop their price a couple grand. Snap on makes great stuff, but uless you plan on parking a car on top of the box, they are waaaaaaaaay over priced for what you get.

  • snap-on...the name the legend...the dick up your ass....

  • i bet thats what all mechanics do they pay 10000 dollars for a tool chest and the they cant wait to run over it with a hyster to test the durability of it and beat the shit out of it with sledge hammers to make sure they got there moneys worth

  • its a metal box who cares

  • i get my tools from craftsman.. They are affordable and high quality tools.. But id keep my storage and other related equipment with snapon.. Id love to have a master set of tools by snapon but i cant afford it :(.. But craftsman has never let me down

  • Well, I would never pull my toolbox around like that, so I don't see what this proves.

  • how about glueing the matco and craftsman "wooden" boxes and then do that stupid test, they would hold up just as well, and if you are going to TEST anything, all the subjects must be tested in the exact same way PERIOD. this is just another way snap on falsely compares themselves to other brands.

  • most shops have welders... if a weld breaks you fix it better than before... woopty do! i love snap on, matco and cornwell tools but never understood why their boxes cost soooo fawking much! I love my atlas toolbox its the same quality and all it does is hold tools and move my tools around the shop...

  • Notice how they didn't show the pulling piece on the Crapon but on the Matco they do. They could have used a larger attatchment to displace the load. They also cut to the Crapon box with it unhooked from the puller, so how do we really know if that is the same box. I guess they think you are stupid enough to pay their prices so you are stupid enough to believe their b/s.

  • snap on cannot even compete with harbor freight tools.

  • @stangbr0 Obviously ur a ratard

  • @baseballboy725 talking about retards who can't spell.

  • @stangbr0 I wrote it like that on purpose sound it out

  • thats pretty low of a company to go out and openly bash other companies. I mean Im all for snap on, I realize that they are the most quality tools you can buy in America, but they screw you over. They come to the shop each week and entice you with all their tools, before you know it you can afford the payments anymore. And for the whole business ethics thing, I dont see that openly bashing other companies by SAYING brand names is low. Couldnt they say their box beats the competitor to be ethical

  • Snapon is a member of the illuminati!!!

  • Awesome, very informative. thankyou.

  • The problem I have with this video is that they never showed a gauge that indicated the amount of force being applied to each box. For all we know they just did a little tug on the Snap On box while they pulled all of the other boxes to failure. Kind of like their ol car crusher video. Sure they will show their competitors boxes being crushed but there was never a video of a Snap On box stopping a car crusher from crushing it.

  • Honestly I think Snapon has some REALLY nice stuff and if I had an endless amount of money to spend my whole garage would be Snapon, but in my opinion some things are just not worth the money all things considered , these toolboxes are easily over 10,000 dollars tell me how does it cost that much when there mass producing it? Its made out of steel so materials are not that much neither is the paint or welding, with that said I'll stick to my Hammerhead box.

  • lol i love snap on but....what a douche!!

  • Looks like a weakness to me and they make it out to be something great. What a crock of shit

  • But at least Snap on will let you make negative or unflattering comments about the videos they post. Matco has to approve the comments posted on this site about their videos. What is Matco afraid of?!?! Maybe they're afraid of people finding out about their re-branded Craftsman Tools and half painted tool boxes.

  • I just started buying Cornwell Tools and I have to say that they have a lot of really nice tools and better prices than matco or snap on.

  • matco makes better boxes and tools. Enc of Discussion!!

The matco guys are also much more helpful and know about their stuff.

  • ive been a mechanic for about 5 years, i really like matco tools and i dont have a single problem with them allthough i do have to say snap on is a little more advanced but they both make a very solid tool

  • Comment removed

  • That was impressive and all, but how often do you run over bricks with your toolbox? Or subject it to crushing forces? Snap on makes some good stuff, but at the end of the day, unless you're fixing tanks in the middle of a warzone, a $800 Harbor Frieght box will do just as well as a Snap-on "ULTRA SUPAR CHEST"

  • You're right about rolling over bricks with your box, usually your usually stays parked in one spot for months even years. Plus we only use these boxes for tool storage only, I've never stored tools that will callapse even the cheapest tool chest. When they start doing toolbox demolition derby's then maybe snap-on will have somthing to boast about.

  • @BudgetBachelorChow I believe that was just to show long term effects on Boxes after being moved around for a number of years. Same tests that Car manufacturers do on their vehicles...

  • craftsman is good if your not making your living as a mechanic... i have a snap on krl series tool box and it lasted a whole lot longer than a craftsman tool box that i had...

  • The only problem I've with Craftsman boxes after 16 years of wrenching was running out of space.

  • Fuck Craftsman!!!! You get what you pay for. Look at the cheap boxes they have, and expecialy work benches. can you say Fisher Price. Its like a wana bee Harley is a Honda. A wana bee Vette is a Opal GT. Snap-on kicks ass. Fisher price is wana bee for Craftsman tools.

  • You must have entered your Snap-on box in the annual demolition derby of tool boxes, Lol!!!

  • ima say this if im trying to make ppl buy my product im going to make sure i make the otheres look badbut ima say this the craftsman side wall didnt look as bad as the mac or matco cornwell

  • deffinately I think that snap on rigs alot of there videos. ive seen alot of tools ive even met the matco rep and when you ask them why there tool is "signifigantly better than anyone else" they kind of studder and make something up or say that there tool has something that everyone else always has. and i mean snap on is nice but when are you ever going to put that much side load on a box? and maybe its just me. i dont really want to spend more on my box than my car lol

  • i feel you on not wanting to pay more for a box then a car. i got a top and bottom box from craftsman and it didn't even cost half of a top box of snap on. and him playing with bocks he should glue the other companies blocks together. and when they did the car crusher they didn't put a snap on box in it. why because no matter what its going to crush it, cuz that's it job

  • yea I hate snap on boxes comercials i mean they are fun to watch but all they do is bash other companies boxes and in my opinion thats a cheap shot. I mean if i could have a snap on box i would lol. but snap on is just so expensive and i dont truly think they are that much better. and i think if tweaking of the box was that big of a deal they would use sprung casters on all pro series tool boxes

  • True that, I've never worked on cars on top of my box Lol!!

  • too expensive

  • My MAC box I got USED was $2300, but it's a nice one, but now is a little small for my use. I couldn't guess how much all my tools are worth. Don't want to think about it. I have tools from Craftsman, Snap-On, Mac, Matco, and a few Cornwell. No China made or other cheap garbage. I think you should have at least 3 times the Value of Tools to the Value of your tool box! If it's the other way around, you have far to few tools or to large and costly BOX!!!

  • While Snap-On does make great Boxes and tools. When a Box is $10,000, I expect a Steering wheel and engine to go along with it to drive it around!!! I have a MAC box myself and works great. Besides I'm not rolling around my large tool box, that's what my cart is for and it gets the hell beat out of it, but the card was under $400. Snap-On tools on the other hand can't be beat. I love my Snap-On Air Ratchet for example. I have a MAC one that sits in the drawer. You PAY for that Quality!!!

  • Yeah... I agree. I have all snap-on tools, all the way through my box.. in a mac box. $16,000 worth of tools in an $800 box... whereas with snap-on, the same roll cab and top chest would have been about $2,650. One day I probably will break down and get a snap-on box, but not anytime soon

  • Oh and the other thing as this test is a bit stupid as if all the drawers were in place the box would be a lot stronger. How many people drop items on a empty tool box with no draws in it while in the work place. A tool box is a tool box as long as you look after it. So spending silly amount of money on a snap on box is like throwing money away.

  • what kind of tools do you use??

i was going to get a craftsman toolbox to go with my tools but after watching this video im not sure any more =[

  • That is ridiculous.

Do you think about things before you post ?

The drawers provide no strength whatsoever !

They are just sitting there , along for the ride.

I suppose you think you know more than the engineers who designed it.

  • No tubesurfintoday i dont know more than the engineers who designe Snap On boxes. What i do know is spending £15000 on tools will repair several cars and earn you a living. Spending £15000 on one big empty tool box will do nothing untill you buy tools to go in it. So spending large amounts of money on a Snap On tool box is as i said stupid. Snap on make good tools and great diagnostics as i have their Ethos and Solus Pro. A MAC US PRO BRITOOL SEALEY tool box does the same job

  • I can't speak for mechanics who earn a living with their tools as I am a home user and mainly use my tools to tinker with classic cars and my amateur radio antennas, but I do know that in everything, I always try to buy the best. When it comes to pliers, I get all of mine from Knipex; for power tools, usually the American made Makita or Swiss made Bosch (except hammer drill which is Snapon)., for the rest of my stuff, including the tool chest, it's Snap On. Best quality.

  • The tools are used to repair vehicles not the over priced tool boxes. I will and do buy Snap on tools for certain jobs like diagnostics etc but i will not pay their stupid prices for a over priced luxury boxes just to put my tools in.

  • Watch the video and see why Snap-on boxes cost more.

  • Wow...Im so glad I have a Snap On box now, next time we empty the draws, take the draws out, load it up on the chassis jig, attach a clamp and pull the hell out of our boxes I can rest assured that my box will withstand the punishment!

  • That was just to demonstrate how it resists racking forces ,which over time over time and up and can weaken the box.

It was pretty amazing that the snappy box was perfect and the others were very damaged.

Did you notice that they had several hundred more welds than the others ?

  • expensive but those boxes never lose their value unless you beat them up

  • Snap On tools are very nice , especially if you have them in your hands eight hours a day, then you want confortable handles and solid engineering. But 64 dollars for a ratchetting screwdriver?? 290 bucks for a seven piece combination wrench set??

The stuff is awesome but waayyy overpriced. A good Snap on stack (Box only) will probably run 3500? when a Craftsman pro series is a grand.

  • try ebay

  • I work in a large shop for a top freight carrier. Around 30 techs and 90% of the boxes are Matco, only 1 mac and a handful of snap-ons. Just bought a 3 bay matco myself.

  • Well they are cheaper....and made in China.

  • lol made in china? Negative. Snap-on charges insane amounts of money for pretty much THE SAME SHIT. You elitists just think they are the end all of tools because they're pricey so they must be! Fuckin mooks.

  • Nice boxes no doubt. But I'm not paying $8,000for a tool box.

  • Snap-on makes the best tool in the world!

  • let's not get off the subject...... tool BOXES is what this clip is about not the hand tools. and as far as the hand tools go, I can get Snap On easier than out of country stuff, but remember tool boxes and only AMERICAN made company's is what is used in this DVD that Snap On used.

  • Yes it is about the tool boxes and snappy KRL series is made here in the USA.

  • I know that Snap-on has the best tools EVER, but I just cant AFFORD them! Craftsman's tools have life time replacement, no questions asked. Then factor in that the price is manageable, I just buy Craftsman... Now if I had the money, I would have a garage FULL of Snap-on tools! (No, I'm not a tightwad or just cheep, I'm still in collage and just using a cheaper alternative.)

  • I think that Snap-On make some of the best tools in North America but they cannot compete with the Germans (Stahlwille and Hazet) as far as quality. They are just as expensive as the German tools, just not as good.

  • Cannot compete ???

That is ridiculous , you are definitely entitled to your opinion, but that is all it is, just your opinion.....no need to let the facts get in the way !

Snap on is huge, and in many countries around the world .

They are in fact No #1 worldwide !

While these Germans are basically just in Germany for the most part.

Why do you think that is ?

An awfull lot of people from all over the world consider Snap On to be the finest tools made.

  • Hi

Mate, I am a mechanical engineer, and i have done 2 4 year trades...

Let me tell you, Snap On is just a name. Most of the tools they say are crap.

If you want REAL quality tools that you can be confident in using AND hand them to your children, buy something like Stahlwille, Snail. If it is made in England or Germany it will be good. But make sure it is not just a name from England or Germany. It has to be totally made in England or germany. Good tools are expensive. Snap On is a name....

  • Crap ? Just a name ?

That is so stupid as to be allmost unbelievable....it is completely moronic to say somthing like that.

You have absolutely no credability with a statement like that.

Have you ever seen or used a snap on tool ?

I allready know the answer because if you had you wouldn't say such stupid nonsense.

There is a reason people that use tools everyday are willing to pay the high price for them, because they feel there worth it ,and they ought to know !!!

  • I use Stahl Willie, Snail, Fein, Turner etc etc.

I see tradesmen come and go all the time. When you are working in mining and offshore industries, you don't use Snap On.

I am sorry Sir, but Snap On is a cheap and nasty brand designed for people with too much money and no idea of good tools. They break all the time.

No one in mining and offshore uses Snap On. We all use Stahl Willie etc etc.

I can see Sir that you and me are a breed apart !

Good day to you sir !

  • @Criztoferlee I Know this is 2 years later... Any Good Snap-on Dealer Should give you the opportunity to buy Snap-on tools to fit your Budget. Just talk to them. Hopefully you get a decent dealer.... Good Luck and Good Tool Buying!!!

  • @Criztoferlee If you are in college, you could take advantage of Snap-On's credit program, and also their discounts! I'm getting just under 8 grand worth of tools for 3,896!
