Thai students even at university level, can not pronounce their own Thai language properly because they are too busy showing off their incorrect English. Many English words are now preferred over Thai. Thai education usually leaves out the bad bit about Thailand to keep Thai blindly happy.

1.) What about the dead and wounded soldiers by bullets and explosive? Why would the soldiers be injured by that if the reds were "unarmed."

They have hurt the country, their own peoples livelihood and tarnished the image of the country. There is no excuse for this terrorism. This situation could have been handled diplomatically, especially since the government even granted their original wish of early elections. Shame on the people who did this!

i am a foreigner and live in bangkok. agree with the basic goals of the red shirts - elections, freedom, revolution. time to change the oppressive heirarchy keeping the poor slaves to rich masters and a monarchy whose own wealth should be questioned. why don't the royals pay taxes? seems completely unfair to demand a businessman - taksin - to pay taxes on money he earned when the corrupt police, military, and royal family hide billions of baht and don't pay taxes themselves.

Thaksin didn't have CLOSE to the personal wealth to be able to "bail thailand out" during the 1997 crisis--the man could have given up all the money he ever made and it wouldn't have made a dent. He gave away the government's money in a ridiculously unsustainable manner, one which he could never have maintained had he stayed in power. Look at the results of the million baht plan, or the ridiculous cheap loans he forced banks to pay out. No sustainability.
