Just discovered this whilst looking for a lost post punk song called 'Inside the devil's circle' by SATURNALIA, which is as awesome as this, but no luck yet.
ouch !!! some serious sh#T must've went down before the show !! did you hear and see how condescending letterman was !! when he say's will you travel across country with me ? kinda fun ...hmm? lot's of fighting and stuff !! not knocking the twins ,god love'em , just saying shit goes down when you're rinkin' and druggin' on the road !! either way, this was a great performance !!!
Excellent upload of a great TV performance! Long live Mark and Greg. I find it amusing how much the lead guitarist resembles Tim Robbins. Striking similarities notwithstanding, a powerful performance.
Greg still has it, but he was smart to get a lead singer for his latest band - ya' gotta' love the synergy of two incredible front men who just wanna' make it real for u
yeah mark is a bad ass, but doesn't anyone look at the song credit on the jacket of the album, greg dulli plays like every damn instrument. now he's the man
i saw this live, i didn't know about them, but i had the same feeling like finally someone comes along with some degree of edge. that is ... not college-educated indie rock shit.
hell to the yeah. Saturnalia's maybe the first truly great rock n roll record of the 00s. Its dark, gritty and muscular but also sonically challenging and beautifully melodic as well?? fucking YES.
there are lots of great rock albums from the 2000s man. i wasn't totally impressed with Saturnalia (or the half assed biblical references) but it was cool. and these guys are awesome. i've seen them live twice and they're just great
LANEGAN couldn't dart offstage!! I love it! Dave seems scared of Lanegan again (see Screaming Trees performance). They did a good job, especially since he doesn't do a lot of tv stuff. I'm pissed that I didn't know they were playing Letterman because I was around there on Wed. I got to see them live later that night though.
I think you could say The BEATLES were better than their solo efforts but I say they can coexist and be equally engaging at times. I think the new album is fantasmic. Cosmic Darkness and full of heavy dark soul. It's best not to compare it and just ride it out. Lanagan still sounds great. Seeing them in 2 weeks. I think DAVE was scared by the song, it has to be the darkest song ever played on his show.
Not as good? A matter of opinion, I suppose. More importantly and the reason why the band exisists is that it's DIFFERENT than the Whigs and Twilight. It's part of the constant evolution of Dulli and associates, as well as a celebration of the fact that both Dulli and Lanegan are both still alive.
Can you imagine Mark Lanegan and David Letterman on a roadtrip. Hilarious.

It's a let down they they didn't do the extended solo at the end. Probably because of time constraints but still..
