As a Metal fan obviously I'm no fan of American Idol. However, for all of you saying Judas Priest lacks their previous "power" - they're not trying in this performance - I saw Priest live recently and they are still balls to the wall beyond amazing. Glenn and KK are phenomenal and Rob's vocals are still out of this world. At least they supported the kid who tried to bring 'real music' to American Idol. If this sells a few more Priest albums, I wouldn't be complaining.

I respect Priest for doing this gig, although they gave Idol more shine than it deserves, normally the music on the show is whack country shit and standards, however it reaches a wide audience that have never heard their music. Durbin is not bad for a 22-year-old, he's got some power and range, once he gets good material and more experience, he might surprise everyone.

There's lots of great melodic death metal bands mainly from Scandanavia and if that's not you're thing and prefer some old school thrash there's lots of great newer bands who have been bringing it back. They really do sound and look as if they're from the 80's. As for traditional heavy metal look up Holy Grail and White Wizzard
