@sbeer6er Try the 701HDV head with a 547B tripod. Sturdy, reliable, and the head is incredibly fluid for the price. (Normally 130-140)

I find Gitzo to be high quality, but pricey. Manfrotto makes good quality product as well, but for a better price.

The pistol grip tripod is not the best thing around for video. Maybe for cameras but the quick release plate does not fit all cameras like my Nikon D80. Not to mention that it does not hold up more than 2.2lbs. My D80 with a good lens alone is more than that.

lol. i think if you can invest in a D80 with a good lens maybe you can afford a little bit higher level of tripods :)

The center column lock knob locks the center column whether in verticle or horizontal positions.

When the XPROB column is set to horizontal is there a way to tighten it?
