The key that you accidentally modulate to in the second verse shows of your voice more. Try beginning in this key. I would also suggest relearning the song without all the melismas and then let them come back when it feels natural to you as the interpreter. This way it is your song, and not a copy of what you've heard other singers do. The words and story will tell you when the ornaments are needed.
best song on earth. you've got a nice voice.. but please do not sing so fast.. keep on the feeling and pause's between the sentences... oh sorry for my bad english and greetings from switzerland
Oh, so everyone who is in Ireland is Irish? I've met black irish, CHINESE irish people and all sorts living in Ireland. Are they more Irish than those of us with Irish ancestory now living in other countries due to the potato famine?! To me, Ireland will always be home. Theres quite a bit of Irish blood in Canada & the US since the potato famine, so for all YOU know she very well could be Irish. Irish accent or not, You have a beautiful voice and you keep singing whatever song is in your heart.

listen im not havin a go at your voice or at your effort, im just sayin my dear no one outside ireland can do the song justice it has to be an irish female singer! & songs like this are never to be change or modernized for its an insult to its writer's! now dont get stroppy take the criticism on the chin & put your God's gift of a voice to good use with a song that would be more favourable to your voice!
never, huh? I really do not care. Music is changeable and I like to take advantage of that. Music used to be much more about personal expression and the meaning and the tone was different when a different singer sang it. Some people's versions were very moving emotionally but maybe they didn't have the best voice and some versions were excecuted perfectly, but there was not emotional connection. That's how music works.
To some Irish people maybe indeed you've got to be Irish before it sounds right but as a Scotsman I think this sounds fine. But then you might dismiss my opinion because I like to play Japanese music on a penny whistle. I like change. Now don't get stroppy.
haha japanese music on a penny whistle! fair play man i am standing & i salut you, only a scotty could pull it off! go raibh mile maith agat! you buzzer
im irish and i think she sings it really well and it was first written as a poem so the why would the writer take offence to her version compared to anothers as it wasnt ment to be a song in the first place?
listen youve a lovely voice you really do but your singing this song too quickly & your not irish so because your lack of accent you havent the purity in your voice! you do have a great voice though!
i never claimed to be Irish, so yes, I am singing this as an American. Also, songs like this are open for interpretation and they are often changed depending on who is singing it.
what makes you think shes dead?..the whole idea is that the fact when you're singing her song she lives once again and in a way she is singing the song through you!...just a thought!
Well, I actually subscribed to you because of your "What is Love" vid. Not seen too many of your vids though. Still did a great job. But such a sad song.
One of my favourite songs ever. Great looking gal as well. Good eyes, good teeth, good hair and good skin. What more can I say ?

I think you did excellent. Might need more control on the diaphragm breathing, but otherwise you did well. That's not an easy song to sing. :-)
