What would actually happen is, we will all have an OPTION. We could choose to stay with competitive healthcare companies, or we can choose to use the gov't option. The result will be stiffer competition among the remaining healthcare providers (yes some will fail), millions more insured Americans, less healthcare costs for small businesses, less sickly uninsured people filling our emergency rooms, and less insurance abuses.

Whether you admit it or not, your opinions are influenced by the media. If you own a business like I do, the democrats scare the daylights out of me. As a result, I've placed a freeze on all hiring and overtime until I know how much in taxes I'm going to have to pay/employee. You see they (government) can make taxes retroactive, and the next you thing you know, I'm on the hook for an additional $500K or more. Many of my colleagues feel the same way I do.

How would you know what is going on in DC, if it weren't for the media unless you had access to the halls of Washington DC so you could personally see for yourself.. Therefore we view the events of the day through the lenses of those who produce the information. Unfortunately much of what is put on TV and Print has a very liberal slant.

Let's just say there were only 3 people who showed up for the Nov 5th rally. Who cares. All I know as an employer of 30 people, I will immediately cancel all health benefits and pay the fine to have the government pay for them. Why? Because all of my competitors have stated that they will no longer provide employee benefits and if I don't do the same I will not be able to compete. So guess who loses....you the tax payer. Once again unintended consequences when the government tries to fix it.

If Private Insurance companies fold that means more jobs taken from their companies and switched to government. Either way, we all save money and our healthcare remains the same.

The Government can lose money and still stay in business. Guess how? You and I will pay more taxes and they can print more money. If my business had to compete with a government run company, I would immediately shut my doors, take my little nest egg I have saved up go do something else. What you want is called Socialism.

I was under the impressiong that the government was accountable to those of us who vote for them into office. I think whats going on here is that those people who vote really don't know crap about who they are voting for, simply voting party lines and then crying and blaming the other side when things go wrong. The Government can also only spend what is needed. Like our school systems, national parks, post offices etc. If you company can't compete, maybe your doing something wrong.

One more thing....why would I want to work for the Government when my salary is 6.25 times greater than the highest paid civilian employee. There would be no incentive for me to put in 16 to 20 hour days to keep the company successful. Give people an incentive to be successful and they'll succeed.

Keep Government out of Private Industry and the strong get stronger and weak go bankrupt. That's free market economics.

My friend for instance works 4 10 hr days a week, has "full" health benefits (most definatly better then yours) and a retirement plan that is insured unless of course we are taken over by some other country lol. First, I think it is important to point out that it is somewhat clever for the Republican Party to tap Michael Steele to be their point man to try to counter Obama for the next 4 to 8 years. The Republicans have a history of race-baiting, so it is important for them to put a Black face on their attacks on Obama's policies.

Second, A lot of us are disappointed with Obama, not because he's too far to the left, but because he isn't delivering FDR style policies. If Obama fails, that will be why.
