I remember watching this music video when I was like 14.. I was young didn't pay attention what the artist and song was. it just sounded so damn good and I had desire to listen to it again today. Took me nearly 20 years to find out the artist and the name of the song. The song is an absolute bomb.. I read more about her recently and checked out some of her pics. WoW.. I didn't realize she's this pretty. Holly dear...

  • I liked this version better...It's funny and crazy. At this time I was little and I remember having a little crush on Moni Love.

  • I posted before realizing others liked this version, too. MP3?

  • Crazy. I just posted one Love's other version on YouTube about how I couldn't find THIS version. I have looked everywhere for MP3 - no luck. I love this version so much more!

  • I have this version, the long and short version. I can send it to you via email if ya want ;)

  • I like the original version better but its still good

  • Great track, but I know it's been sampled.

  • Great recording in the history of music.FLOWS! Delivery of the lyrics is awesome.Remember, this is a take on the Spinner's original megahit "It's a Shame" but M. Love only uses the chorus of the original;the rest are her own lyrics & she really makes this "take" on the original an original unto itself - fabulous!Only in retrospect it's realized this awesome music was special (more like singing than rapping);Love's was truly different than the rest. The vocal lines are very melodic. Fabulous!

  • Also contains a sample of CHIC's "My Forbidden Lover"

  • my mistake Sister Sledge's "Hes' the Greatest Dancer"...Chic's catalog

  • All we remember back then was " My sista, My sista" and It's a shame, the way you mess around with my heart". This was a great club tune. I can't be I was a sucker and had a crush on fine ass monie love!! Teenage years we so fun!!lol

  • To me this is one of the all time underrated rap songs. When I first heard it I couldn't believe the intricacy of the lyrical construction and how smooth Monie's diction was. I hate to make blanket statements and talk about how the late 80's and early 90's stuff was so much more exciting than contemporary rap (makes me sound old), but honestly so much more energy, feeling, and rhythm went into most of the material from that era. Now, most rappers just outfiness themselves or try to scare you.

  • Well said. The flow is razor sharp and so precise. Its still stands up after all these years.

  • @NoJeansBob you are right. im probably either about your age, or maybe a little bit older, but the stuff you said about the way rap was in the 80's and 90's, is true. i cant stand the crap they talk about now!! everything's about money, buying a drink, getting paid, whatever....its pure crap!!!

  • @NoJeansBob I know what you mean. I used to love rap/hip-hop when I was a kid (late 80s/ early to mid 90s) but I just can't find the same likeness for today's music in the genre; it just isn't the same. I didn't even hear of this song until a few years ago but was quickly turned on since it has that old style melody and rhyme to it.

  • i find 2ver.

  • I remember this version too. I thought the audio was from the original version.

  • Thank you very much for uploading this. This takes me back to the golden age of hip hop, and I lieke it that way.

  • and to the age when MTV was actually MUSIC TV and not the junk it is today.

  • I had a crush on Monie back in the day!

  • I have been looking for this version for sooo long!!!

    Thanx for posting!!!

  • I still have this cassette single from 1991.

  • Me too! LOL

  • The BET version!!

  • i dont know who did this but you are a God sent i been wanting this verson and video for the longest God bless you. thank you again.

  • These were the days when girls used to rap and not susbstitute skin for talent.

  • Word up. Monie Love, Queen Latifah, MC Lyte, Yo-Yo, etc...

  • 1991 was a good year for female rappers. Those four ladies had their first Top 40 singles for the first time.
