I had the priv of owning & hearing Don's original album before he went commercial and reviewing it back then.. And his 2nd CD years later. I'm thrilled to find this site ... ty
I just found this thanks to an old friend who told me about it. My father is the Sheriff in this video, Jack Gleghorn. He devoted his life to law enforcement in Dawson County / Lamesa for more than 30 years.
I loved his music. The band played in St.Louis then came up to Columbus, Ohio. I happened to meet him before the show. I told him that I felt like I knew Cowboy Ramsey. He gave me a nod when he played that song.
He had some difficulty climbing up on the stage but once he sat down and picked up his guitar, his face lit up. The energy he generated with his music was amazing.
Great cars, great clothes, great music!!! My first exposure to Don was at a show he did at the Sons of Hermann hall in Dallas. Loved it! I was hooked! I would like to see more of his music on the YouTube site.
This is great music and of course Lamesa Texas as the setting is a nice trip down memory lane. I traveled around that old "square" many times as a young man. Also spent many hours at the Skyview watching movies and things. :) -Jimmy Anderson
Thats my great uncle, unfortunatly im not to big on country sorry uncle don im all about metal lol, luv u even tho i didnt get to see u in person R.I.P.
WOW!! What memmories! Where did time go?? We used to catch Don Walser, when Dale Watson wasn't playing,at Threadgills (S. Austin) on Thursday nights...wow!! Soooooo many good memories........
Don and Patricia made me feel welcome in Austin when I first moved there. Two of the most wonderful people I have ever had the pleasure of knowing. Used to shoot the breeze with Skinny Don a couple times per week. Great band. Great man. Miss him dearly. That sound will never be duplicated.
Its good to see someone famous from Lamesa where I was born and raised.

Wow, that's a great tribute. Don could raise the hair up on my neck with his yodeling. If you can find his "Rolling Stone from Texas" CD buy it!
