  • why did all the announcers of the 70s sound poncey and upper class you can imagine them sat in there suits and hats anouncing the programs

  • So sad! but great video!

  • Oooh, Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid. Awesome movie, no matter what day of the year it is.

  • do you have any BBC1 Continuity from 1975?

  • This ident looks very similar to the COW ident which was introduced 10 years later.

  • Bloody hell ; Butch Cassidy !

  • A time when the BBC was a decent broadcaster.

  • Are they allowed to call its christmas this year or shall we not be allowed because its racist??

  • Nah it's deeply racist mate. Your hour is nigh.

They'll be busting down your door, pepper spraying your flatmates and will have your DNA from the keyboard, having requested your name from Youtube. What follows next is unpleasant and involves a cell and a famished dog.

There is still time to find a sympathetic fishing boat owner and escape to the Netherlands. I'm serious, I said aloud that Doctor Who was crap and barely made it. I've lost my whole family to these bastards.

  • @TheChrisFrom1993 Oh how very Daily Mail

  • @TheChrisFrom1993 oh for christ's sake, save this silly and moronic comment for your mates at the pub, or the daily mail. this is 2011, multicortral britain, wake up and smell the coffee,

  • @TheChrisFrom1993

It just goes to show how pathetic the whole situation is getting!!!

  • I was born in July 1972, so I was 3 years and 5 months old at the time of Xmas 1975.

  • Howcome you disabled embedding? \_/

  • I remember Christmas 1975 very well! The BBC showed `Star Trek' every morning, as well as Laurel & Hardy films, and Scooby Doo cartoons where they meet famous people.

  • I was due in January 76. So i was still in the oven for Christmas 75.

  • This was exactly 8-45pm on Christmas Day 1975-

BC&TSD premiere cost the BBC around £200,000!.

  • Does everyone agree that the idents fron the 70's had a much warmer and atmospheric feel to them than what we have now.

  • You're right, Ed. Due to the technology of the time, they weren't so 'clinical'. I was 16 then.

  • "World television premiere" - those were the days!

  • I remember sitting with the family on Christmas Day 1975 watching the Wizard of Oz for the first time on BBC1, memories.....

  • I was 8 years old and I sat as good as gold, completely still throughout The Wizard of Oz, Xmas '75!

  • I would be 6 years old by Christmas Day 1975 as my birthday is December 3rd 1969.

  • I was born in 1975, so my first Christmas. Thank you for posting it.

  • reminds me of the COW

  • It's just from a VHS swaps tape, I don't have the original tape. This copy was found edited down from the full clip on a DVD bought from ebay. It's still not the original quality, but it's a lot less ropey than my VHS copy.

  • must be one of the rare 1975 idents with sound - I don't suppose you recorded the snowflake from 1976?
