That fill at 0:34 is simple. Actually a bit hard to do because you have to change between the snare and the lower tom at such speed.

Jordison, such a great drummer. He has developped his own style and Portnoy his. Two different ways of drumming. Honest, Portnoy isn't looking for making the fastest stuff. Jordison is quite fast and that sounds pretty good for the kind of music he's working with.

I will say that his timing is just as perfect as Portnoy's, and he's obviously much faster on the bases. Wish I could keep my bases that steady at those speeds. I'm fast, but nowhere near this guy. I think after we get comfortable with out hardware, none of us looka t what we're hitting. We're usually too busy looking at our egotistical singers and then looking over to the guitarists who are shaking their heads, grinning, and looking back at you in agreement.

Travis and Joey have never been in speed comps. The closest either got was Travis's claim in 2004 that he would enter a WFD comp and win. Then he saw Matt Smith and Mike Mangini and instead just hung around for pictures. Neither Travis or Joey could crack the WFD top 20 WFD rankings on their best day. 17 year old Matt Smith is doing mid 1100 singles. Travis is doing high 800s and his hands are faster than Joey's. There are guys out there on an entirely different level sppedwise than those 2.

Portnoy has to release instructional videos top explain to people what he's playing because nobody can figure it out. Portnoy also doesn't rely on childish gimmicks like masks and rotating drum sets.

Take a look at "Slipknot drum solo blindfolded" here on YouTube. It's a high school kid doing a Jordison solo BLINDFOLDED in his school's gym. YouTube is full of kids playing Jordison solos.

Now look for kids doing Portnoy solos, let alone blindfolded. At the time I post this, I can't find any.

Anybody can do speed, and thus anybody can learn to play like Jordison, who is probably a Portnoy fan anyway.

I dont think joeys solo was to show EVERYTHING he can do, solos can just be fun. childish masks, i think masks are cool and fun to, music is about having fun and enjoying a good time, o and im pretty sure any drummer thats been playing for a bit can play blindfolded, most the time i play i dont look at what im hitting.
