This is my favorite cover. Brilliant. I just wish it weren't on her posthumous album. I love it when she asks "Will *I* still love you tomorrow?" Peace, Laura. CL
What simply amazes me is that I've been into music for forty something and yes, vaguely knew who she was when I was a kid. BUT, I knew HER MUSIC, so much of her music. Through the voices of other artists who took them to commercial success. Yesterday, a friend made a mention about his listening to Laura and Blood Sweat & Tears so today I spent a coupla rainy Saturday hours exploring. I. AM. ABSOLUTELY. BLOWN. AWAY. Like finding a new artist I can start collecting!! What a treasure!!!
This is how one should feel after visiting Yosemite, or a Cathedral, or being reborn after a life-meaningful escape from death. Nothing can really describe her contribution.
For those new to Laura, check out her recording of another Carole King composition "Up On The Roof". She also loved Burt Bachrach tunes, and once said she wanted to record an album "Laura Sings Bachrach". Hard to believe some are just discovering her, but her timeless gift lives on. Appropriate that her first album while still a teenager was called "More Than A Discovery". Indeed!
I just discovered about her just a couple of days ago and I'm STILL AMAZED of everything that I hearing thus far...not only she had the great vocal talent and magnificent lyrical abilitily but she also take covers of other songs and totally make it her own-the arraignments on this particular tune are mesmerizing & takes you to another level!!
So far ahead of her time!!!!
Thank you Laura for enriching our lives with your once-in-a lifetime gift of music....
I've just discovered Laura Nyro over the past 2 days and I've listened to as much of her stuff as I can find on youtube. I have to say that this is THE BEST arranged pop song I've ever heard. The next time someone tries to tell me that there is no art to pop music, I'm going to point them to this song.
Sometime the music industry will find her and give her the depth of respect she should of had in the '70s I spent some time with this lady She was the BEST!
Laura, i love you and always will.
Thank you for coming into my life.

Thanks for this hauntingly beautiful rendition. No one interpreted a song like Laura. What a monumental loss.

There's always been something incredibly special about Laura.
Heaven was missing an angel between Oct 18 '47 - April 8 '97.
There has to be a Heaven, because Laura Nyro could not possibly be anywhere else right now.
Thanks for sharing

Laura Nyro spoke and sang for an era long forgotten. There have been few so grand and at the same time so humble.
