I'm trying to learn Japanese and Mandarin at the same time but I feel like Mandarin is easier for me to learn(to speak at least) Japanese is hard. My native language is spanish and when I was learning English, it was confusing because the words are not spelled as how you would normaly pronounce them. (i.e) Sale.. is pronounced like "sail" but to me as a spanish speaker I thought it was "sal- e" not sail.
