looks like solid and decent rigging! pretty cool, I bet you can find a fan film group or a strange individual that would buy that in a second! too bad the alien concept is a registered trademark! if this was totally original I would want it! Kudos to your skill! very few have all the needed diciplines! you obviously poses them!
Thanks for the feedback. i made this 2 years ago and when i look at it also see all whats wrong with it. If i made it again, i would make so many changes, especially the mechanisms, if i had the chance to do it again i know i could do it so much better, sadly i don't think there will be........
For quick answer, pushing and pulling. But seriously it hard to describe. Have you ever taken apart a Car Wing mirror, the type that has an adjustment joystick on the inside of the car? similar principle, that the only immediate example i can think of. If your interested in this sort of stuff, start looking at mechanisms around the home such as the toilet cistern, take things apart, put them back together again, good luck.
I was scaled up from the dog/bull alien toy but eventually turned into a freestyle thing. the actual sculpture/ skin detail is more truer to Giger's work than the film version, mine has phalic stuff all over it, its all quite subtle but really obvious once pointed out, thanks for the comments all the best
still looks awsome man!!! post some stills or email me some id like to see the skin work ...rent me some of that space as well lol.....im making a giger alien costume from scratch at the moment hope to finish a fully animatronic head as well to go with them.....keep up the great work jack
Hey again. I recently saw a picture of a large rod puppet made out of cardboard and stuff that was created by the Alien SFX team to test out some possibilities for portraying the alien. It actually looked pretty awesome, just all these garbage pieces put together and spray painted black. I actually thought it was an actual alien from the movie at first, ha.
ever throught of makeing a haox video about aliens in the woods, you could really pull it off (i mean without the stereotype of the "aliens" movie creature) maybe work on some shapes, and then spend time making it seem as real as possible, then do the night vision in a forest somewhere, quick movements, get the snarling moth thing, perfect...i love it
Wow, this is pretty amazing. I wonder if it makes more sense than the smaller rod puppets that were used for some scenes in aliens? Seems like there is somewhat limited movement. Amazing job though!
That was pretty much the point of making it live action over computer generated, which wasn't a costume. Your right about the limited movement but this was the first time i'd ever made anything like this, thanks for your comments.
I agree, this animatronic puppet would literally be more use than the entire occupying american army. Its spelt Iraq. Actually i was being facetious if you were refering to the fantasy creature actually crossing the boundaries of imagination and really going to Iraq, personally i think it would be a complete waste of time since Iraq is already filled with indescrimate killers.
yes, sorry, I know is Iraq, but... the new language of net... I use a lot the "k" word... and I'm Portuguese... we put a "e" in the end... was a instinctiv reaction...
I damaged the word Iraq... but the US army damaged more...
Thanks man, thanks for the support i apologies for my twaty response your a good guy, your english is better than mine. In the words of Bon Jovi "keep the faith"

The movement is very fluid, almost serpent-like. It's very big, however. Is it heavy?
