  • "Fox and the Chickens."

  • Thank you!

I didn't know that similarity with pawns endings.

    You're right.

  • "The Farmer" lol

  • I liked this so much, I went to the trouble of signing up with YouTube to be able to say thanks. Actually, all of your videos are very helpful, because I think you have got an insight into how we learn to understand (a position, a winning process etc). Keep going!

  • I'm no expert, I used the crafty engine to generate:

    score: 2.62 - 1. ...Nb8 2.Nb4 f5 3.e4 fxe4 4.fxe4 dxe4 5.Ke3 Kd7 6.Kxe4 Ke6 7.Nxc6 Nxc6 8.d5+

    after Ke6 - score: 2.69 - 1.Nb4 Nb8 2.e4 dxe4 3.fxe4 Kd7

Interestingly the computer decided to cut to the chase and defended the pawn before it was attacked and play transposed into the game continuation.

As for Ke6, the King moved to d7 so black lost a tempo, and for black to play Kf6 Kg5 Kg4 will lose to white promoting on the queen side.

  • excellent videos! I very much appreciate these videos b/c it helps me use the different ideas by seeing them in action, rather than simply inert truths. I like the fox and the chickens analogy too.

  • i think your opponent would have had a slightly better chance of a draw if he moved the king to E6 instead of pawn F5

  • Great instruction. Thanks!
