Wow, I am a veterinary technician, and I meet at least 10 dogs a DAY that respond to ear treatment in the same way. All I can say about that is I hope your dog is feeling better. I would also like to mention that it appears that your dog has SEVERE periodontal disease I can see that it has already lost some teeth, and has calculus formation. It may need some teeth extracted, but it definetly needs them cleaned. Periodontal disease lowers your pets immune system and leads to other problems too.

FYI: -i check my G.shepherd's ears routinely for nasty black'ish Mites, particularly if i see him scratching his ears. The easy CURE is to first take a clean soft/paper-towel and reach into their ears with one's finger as best possible, then simply squirt-in a dose of ordinary Rubbing-alcohol (70% Isopropyl) into both ears while holding the dog's head still so as to not get the alcohol in their eyes when they naturally shake their head. The alcohol readily exterminates eggs and the nasty Mites!

But you are good owners for trying to help your dog even with it trying to bite you. It's funny, my dog will bite my mom if she tries to put medication in his ear, but not me.

Its the same, and I have used all levels of shock collar on myself before my dog, to see what levels were appropriate for training. The shock collar has my dog extremely well trained. There are certain things pos. reinforcement should be used and visa versa. Whats your way to train at tearing up the carpet?
The dog probably got an ear infection because it acts like that if a groomer tries to pluck it's ear hair to PREVENT infections. I have seen so many dogs that wont let you touch their ears and then they get infections because you can't pluck that ear hair, or the owners don't clean the ears after the dog eats and the long ears droop in the food.

OMgosh!! My old dog used to do that too. It was horrible....I could have never gotten the meds in his ear at all...unless I did it outside away from my house. That didn't always work.
Now I have two sweet sweet Morkies and I'm making sure I touch them everywhere on their ears so I never have that problem again.

seeing this makes me miss my little dog teddy. he is such a sweet dog and no one in my family tolerated biting when he was a puppy so he definitely knows the rules. It isn't hard to do anything to him--cut his hair, ears, trim nailes, etc.

IHave a solution that would be helpful with this dog and his medicine aversion. Get a broom pole cut it to about 2 feet. Gently but firmly shove the pole up the dog’s ass. When it is completely hanging, proceed to apply the meds. The dog should be very relaxed and eager to please.
I almost cried watching this. That poor dog is in pain. Please be gentle with her. Train her slowly, let her gain confidence that you just want to help her. Have a treat with you, Awww poor doggy.
Please also try giving her a bath, her coat was dirty, avoid water in her ears, use gentle baby/pup shampoo. And don't laugh at her when she is in pain trying to bite you. Dogs pick up on human energy. I didn't think this was funny at all. My heart went out for that poor doggy.

Wow...aggressive. Our dogs have never been snappy like that. Every dog my family has owned has always lived to at least 17, too... so I guess we must be doing things right. :)

t i have a rottweiler with the same problem and he's never snapped at me like that.. hes trained to lay down and roll over so i can put the drops in his ears without any problems.. the reason they say ur dog needs training is because training would have allowed u to administer the drops without all this fuss.. its for ur safety and the dogs.. u might think its funny that she bites u because ur bigger than she is but wait til she gets ahold of a little kid.

Why is everyone saying get her training THE DAMN DOG IS IN PAIN and it does not want them to touch her ears so she bites, but they need to put the stuff in there! I know how she feel I have a sinus infection that cause ear pain and I would nip to if I had to put ear drops in my ears!

My dog ever did that I'd bury it. My dog is a good dog though she trusts me 100% Had since she was puppy and she loves baths and is very good for me always...She is freaked out by plastic bags for some reason though. LOL she still never tries to bite. Even when she had real bad infection she just laid there for me and kinda breathed a sigh while I did what I had to, to help her. She may whine a little from pain but she is a champ. Never pull away like that either you must establish dominance. NO

OMgosh!! My old dog used to do that too. It was horrible....I could have never gotten the meds in his ear at all...unless I did it outside away from my house. That didn't always work.
Now I have two sweet sweet Morkies and I'm making sure I touch them everywhere on their ears so I never have that problem again.

People that allow their dogs to behave that way shouldn't have pets period. It's even questionable if they should be allowed to have children or anything outside of safety scissors and crayons.

seeing this makes me miss my little dog teddy. he is such a sweet dog and no one in my family tolerated biting when he was a puppy so he definitely knows the rules. It isn't hard to do anything to him--cut his hair, ears, trim nailes, etc.

He has no way to understand the reason his owners keep messing with his ears is to admister medication. IHave a solution that would be helpful with this dog and his medicine aversion. Get a broom pole cut it to about 2 feet. Gently but firmly shove the pole up the dog’s ass. When it is completely hanging, proceed to apply the meds. The dog should be very relaxed and eager to please.

I almost cried watching this. That poor dog is in pain. Please be gentle with her. Train her slowly, let her gain confidence that you just want to help her. Have a treat with you, Awww poor doggy.
Please also try giving her a bath, her coat was dirty, avoid water in her ears, use gentle baby/pup shampoo. And don't laugh at her when she is in pain trying to bite you. Dogs pick up on human energy. I didn't think this was funny at all. My heart went out for that poor doggy.
