  • Yeah, I'm just starting knitting leg warmers and I wanted to make a cable on them :)

  • @lilith0886 Great idea! Just enough patterning to keep you interested while you knit the leg warmers. Then they will look wonderful when finished, too.

  • @KnitDenise Thank you ^_^

  • Thanks :) Your video was realy helpful for me ^_^

  • @lilith0886 Thanks! Hope you love cables too.

  • Hi love your videos. I have a pattern that doesn't tell me what to do on the back side but it is stockinette between the cable rows so I assume that I just purl back? Thanks for your help.

  • @yrnlovr Oh, this is a challenge without other clues, like a photo or chart! But I would assume what you are assuming. That is, if there are no other directions for the wrong side, knit the knits and purl the purls. Have you tried Ravelry to see if any other knitters have posted comments on how they have interpreted the pattern? Good luck! Cables are wonderful, so I hope you make this pattern work for you.

  • For the easier cable, how many knits do you do before you cross/cable them?

  • @iHeartKyu "The easier cable" ... I assume you mean the one on the left of the swatch, the one done second? "How many knits before crossing/cabling them" ... I assume you mean how many rows between crossing/cabling? If that is what your question means, the answer is, that cable is crossed every 4th row. There are 3 plain rows between cabling/crossing rows. If I have not understood your question, sorry! And please clarifiy so I can try again to answer it.

  • thanks ♥

  • @taitoVIP You are welcome! Hope you love knitting cables, too.

  • Great Vid!

How do you do the left most cable on your first swatch (@ 0:01)?

  • @RuthiesXStitch I think that you mean the one that "looks" like a simple 2-over-2 left-leaning cable. Here's how you do it:

You have a rib that is P2, K2, P2, K2, P2 on the right side of the fabric. Cable on the RS by P2; put 2 sts on a cable needle (CN) to front; put 2 sts on CN to back of work; K2; P2 from CN at back; K2 from CN at front; P2. Do this on every 4th row. When not cabling, K the knits and P the purls.

    Magic!

  • Wow Its very beautiful. Thank you for Sharing.

  • @BrangerLove You are welcome. Cables are great!

  • Thanks for sharing, Denise. At my age you would think I would know how to knit, crochet, tatt, etc., etc., however, noone ever showed me. I had no idea so I watched YouTube for 2 yrs. and finally have learned how to recognize the terms and continue to do so. I have never made anything! I try, and try and try. I love the way you and others take your valuable time to share, teach and unconditionally care for and see to it that others learn to do these talents. God bless you all. Patti Smith

  • @Patricia43311 Thank you so much for such a generous comment! We all try and try and try. There are so many exciting things to try. Keep stitching and trying and know you are among a very generous community.

  • Can you do these kind of cables for socks , or is it just for sweaters and scarves?

  • @busyhappyknitter I can think of no reason that three-part cables could not be knitted in socks. You would want to check your gauge, since cables tend to pull the material in a little. When you know the fabric will fit over your foot and heel, go ahead and put in three-part cables!
