So basically what the ethernet capability does is it makes it so that I don't need an extra ethernet cord running from my xbox as well as my tv. Because I'm assuming that i still need to buy an ethernet cord for my tv in order for the 1.4 hdmi cable to get internet connection to my devices.
@delameu thank you for your question. As technology continues progressing and TV & Component Manufacturers continue making smarter LED/LCD's/BluRays, etc eventually they will add more applications to connect to your devices where there will be a need to use the ethernet channel over the HDMI cable. Thanks again for checking in and hope this info helps a bit.
@xHaRdStYleKiDx in your case I honestly do not beleive you would need a 1.4 w ethernet. If you want to connect a new BluRay player to your Samsung then I would say spend a few extra dollars on a 1.4 in order to appreciate some enhancements in color and some new on-line apps but outside of that I think you are fine with the standard 1.3 for your PS3. Thank you for your comment.
100Mbps ethernet is old news. Gigabit ethernet (1000Mbps) has been around for a years now so i don't know why it's been omitted from the HDMI 1.4 spec? Doesn't make sense.
@omegared209 if you are in need of another 1.4 HDMI cable give us a shot. We deal with many HDMI manufacturers and can presently offer this cable starting at 19.74. Thank you for the oppty!
@RaineyWM Thank you for your question. You should check the side of the Cable and hopefully will see the marking that shoudl read HDMI 1.3 or 1.4. Thanks again and hope this helps.
I know this is an obscure question but maybe you know the answer. Let's say I have a Macbook Pro (I do). Let's say I have a Mini DisplayPort to HDMI adapter and an ethernet 1.4 HDMI cable. Will I be able to use the internet from my Macbook Pro (which comes from a router) on my TV for apps and other internet features? Or would this not work if the Mini DisplayPort does not have an ethernet channel (I'm not sure if it does)?
@slayerbrian01 thank u for ur question. the 1.4 HDMI w Ethernet will permit you to acces internet for new aplications moving forward. If you have 1 of the new Samsung LED's w Ethernet capability you will be able to access aplications that are on-line. The X-Box LIVE is still conected via Patch Cord to your router or modem or via wireless. If 2day you had a ROUTER with HDMI ports then in that senario the HDMI 1.4 would be able to pass data - dont think 2day there is 1. Hope this helped a bit.
So essentially with the HDMI 1.4 it'll also act as like an attena? I don't understand how it can act as an Ethernet port when its not connected to a router say Xbox to screen..how does it get internet?
@kagenohyou great question. No, it does not act as an antenna. The HDMI Ethernet Channel feature allows your internet-ready entertainment devices, from gaming consoles to Blu-ray Disc players and more, to share an internet connection without any need for a separate Ethernet cable. Also will make content distribution much easier and for home entertainment networking. This will accommodate current and future IP-based networking solutions for consumer electronics.
Plug Ethernet to TV for internet, then hdmi 1.4 from TV to ps3, and my PS3 will recieve internet? It's not working for me and I've searched EVERYWHERE and can't find ANY information about people doing ETHERNET over HDMI.
@majin69 This is a great question. My understanding is that you need the new Ethernet Ready Televisions in order to have any interaction to the internet. X-Box, Wii, PS3 will act only as a Gateway to the internet if you have it conected to ur router or modem. I have already seen the NEW LED's that are out by Samsung and these have that capability. So to answer your question, you will not be able to get any internet access by conecting a 1.4 HDMI to a PS3 FROM your TV. Hope this helps a bit.
@tasos756 Sony will offer the Sony 3D LED/LCD but as far as cables, I dont know. In my personaly opinion, you do not need to have Sony cables to transmit a quality signal. The cables that we are offering today are made by VANCO. Well made and just an overall great quality.

I just bought a vizio 1.4 hdmi cable and what your saying is, I can connect my xbox to xbox live with the cable without an Ethernet cable?
