Heard him on Finneran's Forum the other day, he was angry about Menino proposing a new law to circumvent the collective bargaining process in order to force firefighters to have to take drug tests. He says all Menino has to do is sit down with the Union and they'll agree to it. Sounds great but how does he know that? How is he so clued in? And why is he the one telling this to the world? Shouldn't that be the job of the Union's spokesman?

Mayor Menino is completely corrupt and is robbing our city blind. Anyone in here who is talking ill of Michael is probably another member of the Menino hack machine. He gave his wife a $150,000 secretary job. He gives permits away to contractors who pay him off through his son. Our city and our country is fed up with this type of crooked cronyism that defined the Bush administration and the Menino monarchy. Democracy isn't part of Menino's vocabulary.

As a citywide City Councilor, he's never done anything for my neighborhood. I doubt things will change if he gets to be Mayor. Menino's got the connections and experience to get us through this tough economic time.

What has Flaherty done in his 9 years as a councilor? Name one thing. Didn't Flaherty get sued for holding closed door meetings when they should have been open? When he lost the lawsuit in court (after spending over $200,000.00 of city money on lawyers only then did he admit he was wrong. As bad as Menino is, this clown seems worse.

Mumbles has been fantastic at hiding the fact that he gives favors to companies like Suffolk Construction. I don't like the fact his family is on their payroll and they get contracts left and right to build within our city......to me it's just the tip of the iceburg of things we do not know about Menino. Mike could bring a new energy to Boston.

The case for change is simple: Menino has had a contentious relationship with the business community which has not allowed businesses to grow. Also, where is a quality 311 service like NYC has had for at least 5 years? The lack of leadership leaves our city with no strategy or vision to manage to an objective.

Why should Bostonians turn away from a man who "Greened" the city through increased recycling & by being the first to implement green building codes, advocated for cyclist rights, revitalized struggling neighborhoods with Main Streets, put us on the world stage with the DNC, lowered the crime rate, promoted affordable housing, made education a priority, built the convention center, began revitalization of the waterfront & is accessible to his constituency?

"Increased recycling" hasn't done better than 10% of recyclables being recycled. "Cyclist rights" has given us a few ride-to-work parades and one bike lane through BU. The DNC's "free speech zones" made us a laughing stock and damaged the 1st Amendment. The crime rate was lowered by compartmentalizing the crime into specific neighborhoods. The convention center is built on the backs of car rentals...including locals using car-sharing like Zipcar. One thing he does well though is lip service.

I am lived SouthBoston 7 years and I plan never to leave here. I love city and do not understand position that menino is not good for Boston. Somebody explain how please. I know firemen are angry, yes. Other unions maybe too. But city is strong no? Globally strong yes I know that. Neighborhoods very nice for living. I am tech entrepreneur. Big problems in economy yes, but city is very nice. I hear older neighbors talk about new boston and I think this is me, yes? Thank you I am happy to be here.

A Mayoral Directive and a Boston City Council Order are needed for the more routine transmittal of city departments' public documents to our Government Documents Department at Boston Public Library. Open after 5pm and weekends, we should encourage everyone to learn about and study our municipal government from primary public documents and the municipal governments' grey literature.
