  • ...marvelous!

  • Love this song. The theme is so mellow and melancholic.. To me it just evokes a beautiful ,mysterious girl. i guess the instrumental bit was the band trying to be a bit experimental. Most rock bands in those days saw themselves as 'progressive' and expanding rock away from pop, not sure if it really worked. Most of the fans didn't mind a quiet 9 mins instrumental cos they would have been st@ned at the time anyway:)

  • Frukto is bester

  • 9:04 is just freaking awesome. does anyone know if they ever branched off of that and put in into a full song or was it just for kicks? i need more damn it!

  • do people why you music fight over?

  • the 1st kiss with my girlfriend was with these song

  • there's no need to defend your music. only you are the observer of your experiences of sound. you know whats right in your mind. keep it there and shut the fuck up haha that is all

  • beautiful<3

  • First time i heard this song from Buffalo 66 and the scene and the song gave me chills.

  • Why do people fight ?

  • This (for some reason) reminds me of the same indescribably, painful, bleak, creepy head-space I was left in toward the tail-end of being raped as a child. Like I'm dead. But I wasn't dead. It took a while for my brain to catch up with that. Sure as fuck felt like I was being murdered- STABBED to death- torn in two. Horrible, evil, overwhelming pleasure that was pleasure indeed, but was infinitely, eternally painful, and I couldn't fight it. That's the most disgusting part. This reminds me.

  • @LanceHertford Im jealous bro

  • @LanceHertford Thats so horrible.... I'm sorry.....

  • I love this so much.

  • I've read a lot of the comments that wax philosophically about this group and enjoyed them. KIng Crimson, which I do like, is still a really weird group to me. And I still don't like that album cover.

  • You guys crack me up. Can you not just listen to a song a take it all in for what it is worth? Must there be some intellectual conversation from everyone as if they were music critics,or like you were all academics? It's a really kewl song.... leave it at that and be very happy that there are those out there that like to put music out for it's artistic sake instead of trying to make a fast buck!

  • @MapleStreetFilms There is one Foreigner song that sounds somewhat similar to King Crimson's "RED", that song is "At War With The World" off their s/t debut.

  • I don't understand why so many people dislike the improv section of this song, I actually love it, I remember the first time I've heard the full length version of this song I was riding my bike close to the Columbia River and this song was on my IPod and the improv section totally blew me away

  • Historical song. The aching beauty of the opening part is overshadowes by the avant-gardist following instrumental. The sounds are scattered and everchanging, which puts the listener into submission by making them bewildered. Try to memorise the sounds you hear. Fat chance. The cohesiveness also comes from how the thing unfolds and also having something, so quiet, yet bubbling with hidden fury. It's calm, but try calling it mellow! Moonchild fits the album's fury whilst giving it variety.

  • bella mi piace anche se appena scoperta....a moment of pure immersion...

  • Okay, perhaps the extra 9 odd minutes after the introduction are meant to be deeply spiritual and expressive, but I honestly don't see anything worthwhile in them; to me they just droned on a bit too long after what started as another great track.

  • @Possesssed666 Learn to have some patience and take it for what it's worth. Try to see what they are trying to convey in their choice. It was obviously intentional, therefore there is a meaning behind it.

  • @eskobar979 Lol trust me if there is one virtue I possess it is patience, the patience to evaluate progressive rock songs that clock in at 20 to 30 minutes plus as well as classical compositions lasting over an hours length. The majority of this song still does nothing for me and it would be mature of you to respect that opinion.

  • I have never quite felt a more celestial feeling listening to this song during the few years I have spent on this earth. Makes you want to know more about whats out there in front of your door other than what you see. Magical. :) Pure Art

  • Thumbs up if Mikael Akerfeldt brought you here ?

  • @MapleStreetFilms Epitaph and In the Wake of Poseidon. Boom

  • The part at like 11:10 is my favorite part, by far. It's simply and purely beautiful. The rest is only incredibly awesome.

  • A velvety song by King Crimson ♥

  • Why do you people fight over music?

  • @jabforallmankind Because beauty and art is based almost solely on opinions. People have, sometimes, completely different ones. Thus, one person feels compelled to say something "negative" where they shouldn't. Another person's opinion is probably very strong for this music, so they feel as if they should correct them, or maybe even defend the music, or their own thoughts. Music is a very reasonable thing to argue about, but it is very annoying and unnecessary.

  • @jabforallmankind Do you really expect anyone to respect your frustration when you start out with YOU PEOPLE?. That's rude in itself.

  • Comment removed

  • @jabforallmankind HEY NO ONE MESSES WITH MY DADDY!

  • @jabforallmankind They fight over identity, although misplaced, something very well worth fighting for.

  • @jabforallmankind

Especially over such a peaceful, beautiful song

  • I assume the pupils were not made to be dilated by mistake.. oh how I long to be in such a state..

  • @MapleStreetFilms hah impossible

  • @MapleStreetFilms not red, reds to heavy and creepy

  • @MapleStreetFilms impossible another challenge tell me 2 songs by king crimson that you can dance to

  • LiteracyLabyrinth2 has a point. The song really does lose its meaning after the singer's entry. I really don't see why it had to be twelve minutes long with 90% that's just non-melodic.

  • @Yumeenification Creative expression.

  • this is frippy!

  • If I ever had to smoke weed to a song , this would be the song...

  • I hope you guys notices that the nose is a mushroom :)

  • I wish people would stop flashing their age when they say they like a certain artist. Its getting old and makes you look obnoxious.

  • @jrckr1 Thank you. So fucking much. I hate it when people do that.

  • ......*-*... yes....

  • That guys face on the cover is me when I listen to today's music.

  • @Poisonnachos Can I just say that is the scariest album cover ever, and every time it pops up unexpectedly, it makes me jump.

Also, I don't know why truth or fail sent me here.

  • @ToxicTurquoise454 I'd only jump if it was midnight and I was watching an optical illusions video. And I'm 10 years old.

  • @Poisonnachos Yeah but sometimes just looking at that horrid red face, it's just disturbing. It's a good album cover but frightening. I mean I remember I was on iTunes browsing through albums and this one came up unexpectedly when I was scrolling through the covers on album cover flow mode. It just stopped randomly on this one when I let go of the mouse. I nearlly screamed in terror =P

  • @ToxicTurquoise454 That screaming face is reminiscent of a "bad trip"...

  • @Poisonnachos Wait a minute. Your channel says you're 19... ¬_¬

  • @ToxicTurquoise454 Yeah, I just did that in order to get into Youtube.

  • @ToxicTurquoise454 Plus, I hate my generation. My entire grade listens to crap music. No one will find out the true joy of King Crimson and Emerson, lake & palmer :(

  • @Poisonnachos P.S. You have great music taste for your age =)

  • There's some beautiful playing during the free section on this. If only it wasn't so damn QUIET.

  • only 40k views WTF?

  • i love the sound of the drums, its like their playing through water, and it brings the focus to the front without taking away from the rythmic playing

  • awesome band, wierd as hell album cover

  • thank god for older syblings too turn us on to this

  • King Crimson is one of the most amazing and underrated bands in existence. Robert Fripp is a superpimp.

  • @morguefreezer They get credited as being pioneers of prog rock so they're really not that underrated. Being underrated is a good thing though.

  • Un clasico excelente que casi nadie conoce.

  • This is incredibly calming.

  • Thumbs up if Vincent Gallo's movie Buffalo 66 brought you here! :)

  • It is a day after a full moon in the southern part of Australia- I heard you a long time ago and have held to your wishes all these years you are this phenomena- Charles

  • i tried to sample this,

but i honestly felt so disrespectful...

    it sounded good,

but some music should not be fucked with.

  • Well, it's official. A rock band of all things has perfected the lullaby (not that this song is so boring that it's putting me to sleep, but honestly, doesn't it just sound like a lullaby?).

  • @moviemaster8510 it's definetely not boring, but the calmness inspired by the song is perfect if you are having an hard time trying to rest/sleep,personal experience lol

  • 3 che non piace ma nnate a cagare

  • Ian Mcdonald on vocals here.. I believe the only song he sang lead on

  • @leonakita Is that right? I wish he would've gotten to sing a song or two during his tenure with Foreigner, Ian McDonald sure is a great musician

  • @leonakita Ian sure has a really good singing voice, wish he'd gotten to sing more often.

  • waiting for my moonchild

  • I love the haunting feeling of this song... nice to hear this morning... candles lit, waiting for the rain.... this music is so way beyond great.... a place where creativity and enchantments meet the ethereal. (((*)))

  • @eilzed Oh yes, Seems to touch something so deep inside, and like you said "So way beyond great" I do agree...

  • there is no description for the style. if you look up the beginnings of King Crimson they required all of there members to play completely unique to what they had been taught previously.

    Enjoy

That is all that is required of the listener

  • Thanks doves (M62 Song), i was always a huge prog rock fan but for some reason never listened to King Crimson. Catching up now !

  • its sad to see people like ozzy, and kanya west taking thee songs, and leaving the originals to be forgotten

  • また君に~恋してる~♪

  • this is the only song on the album i do not understand

  • I heard this track in Vincent Gallo's film Buffolo 66' such a beautiful song, so full of soul.

  • I have to admit I lose interest at about 6:00 minutes - the edited version on the boxset is way better. But here is is in all its glory for us to ponder over. Filler material for my ears though.

  • fan of prog rock, I recommend french band "Ange".i love KC

  • I need more than a moment after this!

  • Sleepy lovely is it my own?

I can imagine im out off this world. And im in the prototyp of paradise:Am I right? What do you think?

  • First time hearing this song is like being born.

  • BRAVO!

  • I am not worthy.

  • iam a sperm. i am swimming through a dark void to my destiny

  • @suddeninfantdeath Deep.....and cheesy.

  • My mother had this on vinyl

  • I really love this album and Kind Crimson. One of the best bands ever existed. But I don't "understand" this song. The Song is absolutely perfect until about 5:00 or so. But then this crazy section starts. And I just don't like it somehow. I mean it isn't difficult to play and it doesn't sound good in my opinion. Can somebody explain me what is good there and worthy to hear??

Please don't get me wrong. As I explained I really love this band but this part just doesn't make sense to me somehow ;)

  • @RPBassIllusion If you're not used to hearing ambient or minimalist instrumental sections in prog rock, then this might sound a little odd. But I've always enjoyed the chaotic and dissonant latter half of the song because it's essentially a polar opposite of the beautiful and poetically structured beginning part. King Crimson was most likely trying to achieve an effect by contrasting these parts and I think they were successful in doing so.

  • @RPBassIllusion I agree. The problem is the track experiments with variations of sound and it is rather dull after the first listen or so. Of course Crimson were simply playing music out of the box but it does not mean we have to like this. We can admire their bold approach and I guess the album stands alone as a legendary prog classic due to these type of innovative approaches. Soft Machine were another band that I could never get into for the same reasons.

  • Thanks to my math teacher for showing me the beauty of King Crimson's music :)

  • pretty awesome stuff. i'm 33. my parents had a tape of the crimson king album, amongst bowie, springsteen, beach boys and others. we used to holiday by car, driving across france , listening to these tapes. I will never forget the impression this album made on me, 3 tracks in particular, 21st C, In the court & this one.

  • I LOVE THIS FUCKING BAND T.T !!!!!

  • muy bueno cheee

  • I took "moonchild" as a nick name for my inner personality , based on what this song reflects , me .

another masterpiece by king crimson .

the 1 dislike is what I will never ever be able to understand ..

  • @RockAngel7878 it was most likely a miss, i know that it sounds unlikely.... but it has happened to to me before

  • the picture is magnificent, the picture...

  • I like the HD. This is one of my favorite pieces of music of all time, a lot of people dislike the improv but I find it beautiful, especially toward the end. :)

  • buffalo 66!!!!

  • I never listen so much to prog-rock, but I always loved the Crimson 'kings':

it's true, song is just 2 minutes and half...

KC play not only songs but real profound music:

this is how I feel 'random stuff'

So, thanks to Maestro Fripp & Co.

  • エピタフと並んで名曲です!ドラムのハットがまたいい。

  • @hakaider38 yes, of course....

  • yay, and another drag at that joint..... long long ago.....

  • Unspeakably Beautiful. Thank you for posting (great sound quality).

  • Why did they put all this random stuff after 2:30 lol the song is only 2 and a half minutes...

  • @park157396 It's called Progressive Rock!

  • Comment removed

  • @LiteracyLabyrinth2 It's neither awful nor is it called art rock. No one is making you listen.

  • @ProcolHarum1967 Ah yes, we criticise because we admire the band. It is no more than that. Opinions are valid and that is my opinion, you are entitled to yours, as I am. You do not have to agree with it, but you can understand we all have different ways of listening to music, with different tastes..

  • @ProcolHarum1967 aren't you cool.

  • @LiteracyLabyrinth2 LOL art rock? are you stupid as fuck?

  • @LiteracyLabyrinth2 I don't know why ur comment was eliminated but it should've sucked. If you can't recognize what music is really about, then don't come here

  • @alvifegan It is my opinion. Just like yours it has validity as an opinion and that's all. We are entitled to one so I wish people would just remember that. I love King Crimson but not everything they do is gold, even they would admit that. 21st Century Schizoid Man is a masterpiece as is all the material on ITCOTCK. I also think they have brilliant tracks on Larks Tongues in Aspic, Starless and Bible Black, and of course Red, the other masterpiece. Wonderful band and ingenius virtuoso Fripp.

  • @LiteracyLabyrinth2 If you dont like this, keep away from sigur ros.

  • Fantastic!! Could listen to it all day.

  • Since i was 13 I've always loved KC, today, I'm 19, still doing it :D

  • @GAP120GAP Sweet!

  • @GAP120GAP I also have been listening since I was 13, i'm 52 now and there is no band that comes near

  • @wozza1066 I'm ten years old, and I feel bad i found out about king crimson from guitar hero. Now, I only know about ten or fifteen of their songs, but theyre still awesome.

  • @Poisonnachos Don't feel bad, you used a game to find something that you enjoy. 5 life points to you for that

  • Nie wierzę, nie wierzę ...,że to znowu słyszę i przeżywam

  • amazing.

  • Thanks for uploading the pioneers of the progressive rock movement.
