  • very informative

  • I am an IVF baby and my parents adopted my brother before they tried IVF.

You can only say if it is right or wrong if you are faced with infertility yourself.

Its so easy for you to say you think its wrong.

  • @millicentbinks

you can only say its right because your family was faced with that situation. we all have our biases, i appreciate if you didn't judge our individual opinions, as they are opinion.

    theyre neither right nor wrong.

we intentionally left the video open for the opinion of the viewer to be left up to them.

  • While in North America the multiple birth rate is about 30% and up with IVF...if infertility treatment like IVF was covered by health insurance like it is in almost every other developed nation in the world, the multiple birth rate could easily be brought down to less than 10% in IVF pregnancies.

This is due lowering the number of embryos transferred in a single cycle because patients are not stuck between affording treatment and limiting their odds of success.

  • It is true that IVF generally does result in a higher percentage of multiple births (about 30% of the time), usually twin pregnancies (very rarely more than twins-more than triplets is almost unheard of-except for a few sensational cases).

Patients undergoing IVF can choose to transfer a single embryo at a time instead of the usual two to reduce the odds of a multiple pregnancy.

But that reduces the odds of success per cycle, and increases the costs for patients.

  • While IVF embryos are sometimes discarded or donated for medical research if they are not needed for further attempts at family building, that is a very personal choice for those individuals/families undergoing IVF/ those important decisions are usually made with very careful thought and consideration by those involved.

IVF can be, and often is, done without discarding any 'living' embryos (just as in natural pregnancy attempts, some embryos fail to survive because they are not viable).

  • I think people can learn from their situation in life, be it hardship or illness and can grow from experience, but I don't think they are "meant" to suffer.

Adoption should not be viewed as a "fix" for infertility. Children in need of adoptive homes should be adopted because they need a home/for their needs...and by any family who feels it is the right fit for their family. Infertile couples are not more suitable to adopt than other families just because they have fertility challenges.

  • Looks like you out a lot of time and effort into your project. Good job.

I wanted to share a few things from the perspective of a person dealing with infertility, and one who has done IVF.

I disagree that having a medical problem is a "sign" that someone is meant to do something. I don't think people have illness and disease as some sort of life guidance system. I don't think people with a possibly terminal illness are "meant" to die young...

  • Opps, that should read... "Looks like you PUT a lot of time and effort into your project".

  • I don't think those with diabeates, are "meant" to have diabeates, I don't think those with infertiltiy are "meant" to have infertility, and thus...they are supposed to "adopt" instead of treat their medical problem.

  • Good video. I liked the points made. I am a christian who is currently saving up to have In Vitro fertilization. I also agree though that life begins at conception. I'm currently having a hard time deciding what I should do as far as freezing any extra embryos. I'm going to pray about it.

I do believe that God created us the way we are, but I also believe that doctors possess knowledge to help the afflicted. The Lord can bless us by healing our bodies and I thank God for this chance!
