Thanks for the reply. Perhaps i-tunes just loaded it up cause it hasn't been there recently. I have been looking. I also requested it through i-tunes so..... maybe I just got lucky. Thanks again for the info.
Wow - this video was so cheesy and odd and so 80's, almost like a high school project for such an awesome song. I imagined the video being about him flirting with someone young like him and all these grouchy old people trying to keep them apart. Check him out now - handsome (even though he lost the eyeliner) and still oh-so talented. Thanks for posting this gem.
They would have been mega if Roddy Frame had been more handsome, rather than supremely talented.Love to have a wee listen every now and then to remind me of my youth lol
saw these guys years and years ago at the hammersmith, then, odeon! support band didn't show so roddy frame came on and did a solo acoustic set to kick it all off.... genius
Weird, almost creepy. I have never seen this version before. It looks like it was filmed when Roddy lived in New Orleans just before the release of "Knife". Sometime around 1984...
musicalglenn is right, there is not one song that isn't good, absolutely no fillers at all. One of the best debut albums in the entire new wave 80's era! Definitely worth tracking down the album on CD!
"They call us lonely when we are really just alone"
went to see them at the glasgow pavilion in 83 just as this was coming out...they were awesome and the encore by roddy..was we could send letters...left everyone with a lump in their throats,,,still an awesome singer song writer..as he we say...we called it genius
I wanted a suede jacket with a fringe for 20 years after seeing this video. Roddy also got me wearing bolo ties. He paid me back by throwing me his scottish tartan tie at a show in SLC in the mid 80s
Don't forget these guys were 16 years old when they made this video!! Six-freaking-teen! They opened for the Clash during their summer holidays. What were you doing when you were that young? I glued to MTV and these guys were on it! UNBELIEVEABLE!!
I love it! Thats what I love about the eighties, even the ostensibly throw away/bubblegum songs had something to them. Mostly, I mean, every age has its rejects. But most of the 'first generation' MTV stuff at least has character, and isn't slick and bland or over-reaching and tiresome like today. Thanks for posting campfreddie!
Wow, this one's really weird! But soooo much better than the other vid they did for this song. That other gloomy, boring one is the only one I remember seeing. Maybe they thought they had to dull it down for North American audiences or something???
This one was done by a North American company (Sire) a division of a North American corporation (Warner Brothers) for a North American audience on the North American MTV ... any more questions about which version was dulled down?
Thank you for posting this "CLASSIC"!!!!!!!!!!! I can't stand it when they pull'em off, it's not like theres any real harm in sharing, (those bastards) you and others are my heros!!!!! Thanks again! ; )
so nice to see this video again. it's great to see roddy's young, happy face. my question is does the tower blow up at the end? (i didn't remember that at all)...
Thanks for the reply. Perhaps i-tunes just loaded it up cause it hasn't been there recently. I have been looking. I also requested it through i-tunes so..... maybe I just got lucky. Thanks again for the info.

Roddy's pretty make up scared me. From some angles he is almost Claire Grogan-ish in a very disturbing way. At other times he looks like KD Lang.
I couldn't watch all of it as it was making me feel uncomfortable.

Bit of a Boy George look here too. Go on, admit it, you fancy him! Yee can be a Biggar man than you imagine

I swear this song makes me so happy. Roddy is just adorable, charming. It's so great. And he is so talented!

if you had to select a song that would represent
the early 80's modern rock sound, this would have to be a top 5 choice. simply awesome!!
the Spanish guitar adds a nice touch to an already fantastic produced track. timeless.
an all-time classic!
