@Zantozzzz eq2b's are electornic and project the sound forward where as the original q projects sound to the sides, so fdny went with the eq2b's because with the narrow roads of nyc, the sound was blasting off the sides of buildings and making the residents angry since it was "too loud" so they switched to eq2b's

I heard some companies put real Qs on their trucks, then take them off whenever the truck goes to the shops because it would be confiscated. The Rescue 4 siren in this video was definitely a mechanical Q, not an EQ2B.

@abzvinny318 all o fNYC prohibits the use of the actual Q siren because of the city noise polution code, some companies do bend that code and mount the Federal Q on their rig, however they have to take it off before the rig goes in for service otherwise the FDNY mechanics will have to remove it- being that they're not supposed to even have it
