  • i met laurie hogin and she gave me all this amazing advice and it was awesome!

  • Glad to see she lost the frames. I remember first seeing her work years ago - admired the painting technique but found the fames distracting.

  • Easy now big boy. Loved 'having a limited dialogue with already dead animals', funniest thing I heard all week. But, and do correct me if I'm wrong, should it not be a monologue Shirlock? Or is he a ventriculist with his hand where your interests are. Now that we have explored your neo-conservative views re: animals and homosexuals, shall we move to women and then races? Or have you argued enough for today my boy? We have a saying in arts:

  • Hitler's youth is closed for a while, try youth(.)gop(.)com & flame your own channel & change your 'Interests and Hobbies: art arguing art' to debating, really. Now go torture your neighbors blowing your horn, talentless biggot

  • go back and reread your repetitious personal attacks..i abstractly argued Hirst, you argued me. best of luck

  • Wrong, as usual blind boy.

  • word

  • I love you too.

  • you love tools

  • Just had lamb liver with wine. You're not the sharpest of knives in the kitchen. Silly diversions do not answer points despite crystal clear repetitions. Good luck little jackboots. Can't help you further, nor can anyone else, have to do it yourself to escape your painful mire.

  • have to jack your own boots in your mire of sharp knives which is a silly diversion from your pain

  • test2

  • Good art and good video. Interesting melding of traditional painting techniques with contemporary colors and content. Again, thanks James (and Kate).

  • great video thanks.

  • Interesting art and good commentary, I especially like the vid edit work of showing her pieces while hearing her comments, nice to see a gradual improvement on these things, Mr. Kalm. All you need now is a steady-cam and a good close-focal point lens. (but why the Xfiles music under? curiouser and curiouser.)

  • Nice painting.

  • A perfect antithesis to Hirst who glorifies the pharmaceutical industry peddling a good percentage of poison amongst OK drugs, charging the poor as well as the third world 'to death' and like Hirst himself killing many animals for profiteering when other ways or even less killing is viable. In a hundred years her work will be much more valued and he dropped!

Also, she can paint! Well done.

  • I agree with your take on the pharmaceutical industry, but not on Hirst. I think his themes are vanity, decay and death, (coated in blistering and powerful irony), those three words also aimed at the pharmaceutical industry whose bosses naively buy his works ...

  • He plagiarizes artists (op-illusion guy, butterfly mandala woman, etc. etc.) and sets his people on them.

    Very distasteful character too.

Hirst kills many animals every year. He is about to fall.

  • Hirst overproduces and sensationalizes his personality very efficiently...some of his work is very good.....but the 'killing of animals' is a boring point....mcdonalds kills more animals, i eat animals everyday along with millions of other people....you say he is a distasteful character, but have you met him? all artists are magpies...we steal the nests of others to make our own.

  • You avoided the artists ripped off facing his army and powerful network.

Go kill animals for fun, you are wasting your life in arts you blind man.

  • content is an open-ended dialogue with no boundaries beyond the banalities of copyright, see jeff koons' puppies episode. animals are killed for shampoo, cellphone covers, anti-wrinkle cream, the space shuttles and so many other endless gratuitous impulses. Why complain about mr. hirsts limited dialogue with already dead animals. anyone who feels ripped off by damian hirst is too easily threatened to matter anyway. art is about being clever and using everything at one's disposal.

  • I'll steal from you %100, set my expensive lawyers on you & blacklist you with my network in time, see how you like it.

'hirsts limited dialogue with already dead animals'? Ludicrous inhumanity post-fixed with a lie. He has many animals killed annually not for food/drugs despite your evil sophistry AND most not making the grade are disposed off.

'art is about being clever & using everything at one's disposal'

    (Heel clicking): Yavol Mein Herr

Before dreaming of art become a human being first.

  • your 'stealing' is par for the course. Influence, appropriation, quoting, or homage are not 'stealing'. your first series of accusations are just that, YOUR opinions, not facts. calling my quote ...yavol mein herr....is just plain hostile.....art is about being clever, among many other tools: cleverness and resourcefulness are not worthy of 'heel clicking', only admiration. I stand by my comments regarding animals, i think you are just politically opposed to eating meat, that's your right.

  • Thank you James Kalm.

  • I liked your "I am actually more interested in your paintings" when she was getting a bit carried away...an interesting and solid artist though.

  • Lauri confessed to taking an occasional Ambien for her life long insomnia. But if we'd have kept going with her Frankfort School critique of Capitalism, no one would ever need to take Ambien again. JK

  • Which is probably what she is ultimately aiming at...

  • Hmmm ... Windsor Newton knows what they're doing but Merck and Pfizer don't? Underappreciated scientists. Tough problems. Very different from what I would or could paint. I bought pounders of Windsor Newton in the Shanghai airport three years ago for $1.50 each. It may have been laced with melamine, but they too have margins. Best of the holidays everyone. Greatly enjoyed the productions and commentary from all. Thanks, thanks, thanks.

  • I took Ambien when I was in the hospital and that stuff zonked me. I was sitting up in my bed because I couldn't lay without coughing and staring at some kind of hazardous material box on the wall and then suddenly it was four hours later, wtf, then I took Xanax for a month when I got home, just to sleep. Nice paint technique but kind of a one-trick-monkey.

Take two guinea-pigs and call me in the morning.

  • blah blah blah blah,,good painting...

  • Ummm...very interesting.

    Great job James,as always.

I am a huge fan of yours!

    Regards.

    Emilio.
