I have a T400 and I absolutely LOVE it. Now its a bit old but being a high performer at its time it still can beat modern consumer laptops -The only competition it has is, obviously, another ThinkPad some friend brought after seeing mine making turns around his other laptop.
I may shoot a separate video showing this since this isn't the first time someone asked me about this "flex" issue. Someone even sent me a video of a guy pushing down straight down vertically forcing pressure to a concentrated area. Not a good test as that doesn't reflect normal "day to day" use. I have more than 15 T400s in my lab right now and none show this flex issue to speak of. The palm rest area you question shows no problems for normal computer use. I hope that helps.
There is an SD card reader, I personally have never used it be careful using it you don't want to jam the card. To find it it - take off the battery and look in that area. You will see the slot. My model has a sticker with an SD card on it in that area under the battery.
It is indeed a SIM card. Let's say it was really a SD slot behind the battery. What good would that serve? Remove a battery every time you stick a SD card in for downloading pictures off a SD card? Having said that, watch my new T410 review coming up. :)
My thoughts exactly.. Nevertheless, if you choose to configure your own T400, Lenovo does offer the option of a media card reader.
Looking forward to watching the T410 review :)
Hope the solid construction is still there, since Lenovo dropped the top magnesium roll-cage in the newest models. The T410 now has a PC-ABS plastic lid :|
I won't exactly drop my T410 and T400 as a crash test to test out the effect of having a roll cage or not but the T410 top LCD lid still feels solid as ever. But the texture feel of the top is very different as T400 has the old "rubbery" feel whereas the T410 has polycarbonate all plastic feel. Does it feel a bit cheaper? Yes. Do I personally mind the change? Not exactly. The T410 review posting tonight! Thanks for stopping by!

I think that's a SIM card slot under the battery :)
Nice review BTW :)
