I love the way her voice sounds live :D Who cares if one note's off for like half a second? She's human. I think it sounds cool sometimes. Once when I sang in front of a small audience and hit a high note, my voice cracked a little and I got frustrated because I felt like I could do so much better and my voice usually doesn't do that, but they didn't care. They still thought it was a good performance. It happens to every artist. What's the big deal?

I love Amy's singing even though it's not perfect. Perfect is boring. ;) And, she writes very hard songs. Listen to their music. Most of their songs are full of high/long notes which are hard to hit. For example "Disappear" must be insanely hard to sing.

As a singer myself, I find it absolutely insulting and embarrassing that anybody would believe that this is a bad performance in any way whatsoever.

There seems to be this horrible new trend of people picking apart live performances by every band or artist and finding the few places where somebody may be flat or sharp or make a tiny mistake. Nobody should have to defend or justify going up on stage and not being perfect. That's why it's a "live" performance.

yeah, she screwed up a couple of times, but I thought she was amazing! :)

Her new songs are INCREDIBLY hard to sing, trust me, I sing a lot and I've found her new songs almost impossible (well... some of them, this being one of them!) there is definitely a new style to it, so she's using new techniques and singing things she never has before. But that's the mark of a good artist - she's stretching, pushing herself! :)

Also ... I think the break has done her voice a lot of good!

Actually female voices do not mature until their 30's or 40's so as long as she doesn't destroy her voice with overuse, she should be fine for decades. High soprano notes are easy--it's all the chest singing that takes a toll on the fragile vocal cords. Most professional singers sleep alot and refuse to speak during the day (vocal rest). Touring seems to be doom for a vocalist as they are not sleeping well, flying on a plane, eating restaurant food--not the healthiest moments of life.

:o Actually, if you go back to "Anywhere but home" you'll see she has improved a great deal live. At the other hand, this songs are relatevily new to the band and haven't played them as much. >_< hopefully they'll be much better one they come here (praying somebody will tell them that Peru exists) u-u

But yes, Evanescence isn't perfect live, XD there is very few artists that I know perform perfect live... most of them... artists with life long carriers such as AC/DC, Pearl Jam and such

I think she's doing fine. My explanations for Rio: 1) LONG hiatus. Five years and they're just back in the game. It's going to take time. They've improved a lot since Rio. 2) Her technique. She admits it herself that she's not using the best singing method, but that one's on her. 3) She's nearly 30. Like it or not, all artists experience a change in their vocals as they get older. She'll never quite sound like she did at 22. That's okay. She's still got one of the best voices in the industry.

I think Rio was the 1st or 2nd gig on the tour. Definitely their first HUGE gig in 5 years. I saw them in Worcester, MA (gig # 8) last week and everything was right on and perfect . Sound system, guitars, and Amy's voice rocked ! Also, Will Hunt is a monster drummer !

i think the people dissing amy's singing need to put themselves in her shoes. Try doing a whole set of music live in front of a huge audience AND knowing that it is being taped live so any mistake is there. We are all human. Thats why i love amy live, the album will never have as much emotion raw talent as when she sings live.

Amy just needs extra vocal training. She's not done a show since 2009, and then she was working on an album in 2010 that they dropped and started all over again and she's been doing concerts ever SINCE! I think she isn't the singer she was in the Open Door era anymore - accept it. She should be able to change the pitch as it's slow & even I can do it. But Evanescence still rock!

People need to remember it's been 5 YEARS since EV has done a live show with exception of maybe 1 or 2 small gigs in between. This is a long set without a break. She's bound to get a little tired after such a long time away. She'll pick back up. If you think it's simple, put on an album of your choice and sing along with it in it's entirety without taking a break in between songs and see how quickly your own vocal chords tire out. Not bitchin at anyone just sayin. You'll see it's not so easy.

Evanescence is no ordinary band; they won grammy awards! Their music professionalism is very advanced and the songs are extremely difficult to sing live.

She just needs more practice, she will get it, she always does. And all that running around takes a lot out of you. She also getting older, she isn't 22 anymore. Also consider that Amy needs to sing loud enough into the mic so everyone can hear her. Then consider how she has to sing again, and again without any breaks. Her voice is all wore out. There are Also very many picth changes on the new album. Try singing as low as you can (like a middle c) then going seriosuly high.
