  • great channel. a lot of good ideas!

  • @WinesComTV thanks, check out my site too, i'm sure you'll enjoy it ;)

  • thanks a lot dedemed for your wonderful recipes!

i recommend your site to my whole family...ive learnt pita bread n hummus from you..

i had a lil question though...im planning to make this yoghurt dip for eid and i cant find any greek youghurt here in mauritius...would normal yoghurt be ok for the dish along with kofta?

again Dedemed you rock! and you look Dashing!

  • @yushra yes you can use regular yogurt. If the yogurt is not sour, then add 3 tbs of lemon juice to it :)

  • @yushra Yes you can use regular plain yogurt but you will need about 50% more as you will need to strain it to remove the excess liquid as greek yogurt is much thicker, strain it with a coffee filter or tea cloth in a colander, it will need to strain for approx 2 hours.

  • @bobcooley61 great tip :)

  • What a lovely lady:)

  • @TheKingOfRuckus thanks for the sweet comment :)

  • Peace of mind: You can also strain the yogurt beforehand to thicken it up

  • @tightvers2 thanks for the great tip...you can even use labne/kefir cheese for this ;)

  • The recipe at your channel is clearer

Here for your video and for Jebus sake , Please ask your "camera crew" to zoom in the ingredients as you talk

  • i found out, i think only the iraqis call it jajek

because in the lebanese restaurent they called it what you call it

    its so yummy though :)

oh and i tried making this at home, and i very stupidly put it in the bullet blender and it became a yummy yogurt drink, but i was so looking foward to eating it with bread

  • @SoSoniLove lol that's ok, next time make it outside the blender and it will go great with shawarma or kefta or just plain bread :)

  • A beautiful woman that can cook. Why, oh why, do you have to have a ring on that finger?

  • @glassjaw890 all you have to do is find a girl and introduce her to my site and she can cook just as good :)

  • I thought the arabs called it jajek? In the restaurents its called jajek lol

And omg i LOVE this with bread

    Yummmmmm :)

  • @SoSoniLove hmmm i think that's the drink, not the one you can eat with food :)

  • This was a nice video! Me,instead of water I use olive oil to un-thick it.

    It's good way I think. :)

  • @Arxidianomeas that's true but that may add to many unnecessary calories :)

  • hey dede! If i don't have Mediterranean yogurt, what can i add to regular plain yogurt to make it taste more tangy like the Mediterranean yogurt?

  • @zahra14300 if you don't have Mediterranean yogurt then add 3 tbs of lemon juice so you can get that tangy flavor :)

Is it possible to request a recipe for Ayran, the yoghurt drink? I had one that was homemade in a restaurant a week ago and it was amazing, much better than any of the store brand ayran.

  • @archimmes I will try to get that recipe for you :) I'm glad you like my recipes :)

  • Dede Thank you for putting up these video recipes. I just moved away from Michigan and really miss my good Arabic restaurants.

  • @wzako you are welcome :)

  • Hi Dede, where can I find Persian Cucumbers? We do have a meditterenean restaurant/grocery store here but I'm not sure if he carries fresh produce there. Thanks! :)

  • you can find it at many grocery stores, if you can't find it then just use whatever cucumbers you can find ;)

  • Fantastic and simple recipe, thanks for sharing! I've recently started making my own yogurt, and have been looking for recipes to use it in. You have a great channel, going to look at the rest of your videos.

God Bless you and your family.

  • What if you cant find mediteranean or greek yogurt. Could you use plain white yogurt??

  • yes you can, it will taste fine. Greek yogurt is a bit more sour so if you use plain white yogurt, you may need to add a little bit of lemon juice :)

  • @socaltrisha2004 or you can make your own, which is what I do. It's much cheaper. Measure out 2 quarts of milk into a pot, heat just below the boiling point. Let cool to 110 degrees. For each quart of milk, add 1 tablespoon of store bought yogurt (Dannon plain) Stir well and cover the quart jars with a clean blanket. Let sit for 10 hours, and you will have yogurt. This will be the only time you use store yogurt, after that to make more yogurt, use a tablespoon of the homemade.

  • this is the exact recipe I use and it turns out great every time, great tip :)

  • @EbolaV1rus its better if you use greek yogurt, it has different and better cultures

  • Looks easy. The method I've been using takes longer but I like how thick it comes out. I chop the cucumber in a food processor then drain it over night thru a coffee filter. I also drain the yogurt over night with a coffee filter as well. Mix and add garlic and then let sit in the fridge a few hours before eating. Also the higher fat percentage of yogurt the better. One guy here uses 10%. I still can't get your toom recipe to work though! But I'll keep trying!

  • You're cute. Where are you from?

  • I'm from Detroit, Lebanese heritage :)

  • Muy bonita,..great recipe too ;-)

  • when i drive to las vegas i stop at this place called the mad greek and have gyros. they have amazing tzatziki sauce. i have tried to replicate it.

i use the trader joes greek yogurt but i cant replicate it. mint or dill? i think that is the question. i have used dill, not mint yet. but for the life of me i think they use dill in it.

anyhow, i wish they would give me the recipe.

  • try this recipe, try it with dill and then try it with mint. It can be made both ways :)

  • well where am I supposed to find the yogurt?

    I really love this sauce!

  • most stores carry Mediterranean or Greek yogurt :)

  • Trader Joe's has the Greek yogurt. Otherwise you can strain the regular kind.

  • I love TJ's :)

  • Do you have a Greek style Yogurt recipe?

  • Will be coming out soon :)

  • LONG LIVE TZATZIKI

  • is that the sauce used at the chicken&rice and/or chicken and lamb and lettuce halal vendors in NYC?

  • Yes it sure is :)

  • shuqran u make it look so simple u got me in to cooking. lol. keep up the great work

  • Thanks for the support, check out my site!

  • Wow what a gem of a channel. How come you don't make videos anymore. I'm so excited about all these recipes. :-)

  • I do, I release a new video every week :)

  • wonderful ! thank u for the video

  • I make this all the time but I add a pinch of cumin powder and use dill instead of mint. Thanks for such great videos. If I can't find persian cucumbers, I cut up a cucumber, sprinkle with salt and drain in a colander, then make the tzatziki.

  • great idea :)

  • Hey, do you have a recipe for Maklooba?

  • Maklooba will be coming soon :)

  • Enjoyed that... Going to subscribe:)

  • check out my website

  • Remember to chew a gum or brush your teeth after you eat tzatziki ...Leaves a quite strong smell!

  • I've made it a lot in the past week. I made it with

    -500 grams of Greek yoghurt

    -a few minced garlic cloves

    - one large grated cucumber including skin (i didn't have the persian one)

    - 4 tbsp extra virgin olive oil

    - some lemon juice

    - a few tbsp chopped fresh dill

    - a few tbsp chopped fresh mint.

    - black pepper and salt

  • we eat this in Irak also, yummy!

  • made in greece

  • very true :)

  • made in Turkiye and its original name is CACIK

  • BTW, I thought you had to leave it in the fridge for a day.

  • No you don't, you can eat it right away :)

  • You're like Rachel Ray. Cute and enthusiastic.

  • Hello Didi thank you for your wunderfall dishes. Theire similar to Albanian / Kosovar - Dishes. We call the Tzatziki in our Country " Tarrator" we add chopped green onions (if you like of course) some chieves and parsley for decoration. Greetz

  • Tzatziki is aslo great by itself or served with lamb souvlaki.

The tzatziki recipe I use is a little different, it's from my Cypriot ex, but, I'm anxious to try your method.

    Great video, I'm subcribing.

    Yassou!!

  • Dede, your recipes are wonderful! Please make close-ups of the finished dishes :o)!

  • Just outstanding!, outstanding!

  • Thank you.

  • Dede.... you rock, can't wait to try this.

  • can i add lemon for the yoghurt, cause i cant seem to find a medd yoghurt....

  • add 1 tablespoon lemon juice :)

  • thank you...hehe, another sauce recipe....

  • a great one too

  • i had this at a Moroccan restaurant with some grape leaves and it was delicious. where can i get a persian cucumber? and can i grate it instead of dicing it?

  • Absolutely! My husband hates cucumbers, but likes the yogurt and cucumber sauce. So i have to puree it for him, so he doesn't taste the cucumber chunks. But as far as the Persian cucumber goes, that is the preferable cucumber, but any cucumber will do. Try whole foods, or ask your local grocer.

  • Nice! looks delicious <3
