@TheChiquita95 Have you ever had a puppy? It's actually very important to crate them while potty-training and in the early disciplinary stages. If they are crated at night, it helps them learn not to potty in the house because animals will not go to the bathroom in their own area. They think of their crate as "theirs"; my chihuahua puppy (he's a year old, so not really a puppy) actually goes to his when he is tired. It is not abusive in any way.

I found this video very helpful and I like the fact that you gave Laika "privacy" while she did her business. The producers of so many of the other potty training videos somehow felt it necessary to film every aspect of the elimination process, even providing close-ups. :0/ (I already know HOW my does goes, I just need to make her STOP going in the house!!)

I have used this method as well in training all my dogs. When they pee, I repeat it over and over. Good girl go pee pee, go pee pee or if they poo, I repeat that over and over as they do it. They associate the words pee and poo and now when I take them out all I have to do is tell them, go pee pee or poo and they will drop and do it. It's really important to say it EVERY TIME. People are amazed my dogs do their business on command. lol

@pinkyoilers She wont. A crate is a dogs den and a dog will never go number 1 or number 2 in their den. That's why crate training is the best way of house training your dog! I was able to house train my puppy in only a couple days by using the crate :)

Ah, the magic of crate training. We trained our Papillon that and we have been grateful since. ^_^ Potty training was pretty tough but now he's able to hold it until we take him out.

I hope you see my question...I have a Husky/German Shepherd mix that we got from an adoption agency..her name is Molly. But while she was being fostered they pee pad trained her-so now I have a dog that is almost 6 months old & 45 lbs that pees on my carpet. She goes to the bathroom outside every time we take her out, and we'll take her out probably once an hour to keep her from going inside, but as soon as we walk in she'll go on the floor-no matter how much she went outside. Any suggestions?

@supercreampuffy It's crate training, they know not to go to the bathroom while in their crate and once they are potty trained they get to stay out of it. It doesn't take very long normally but they are fine :) I know it seems cruel I hated doing it to my dog but it is how she was trained as a puppy and probably Laika too.

@supercreampuffy Puppies need to be crate trained until they are older, it's the only way...they can hold it only for so long and need to relax and retreat/rest for a while (especially with Huskys...they are very hyperactive as puppies and need some time out). You can better control when they nap and when they go. Of course Mishka & Moki aren't locked up! They are well-behaved mature dogs...they know how to act/behave!
