This is CLASSIC -- happens all the time. A Media crew arrives, the lettuce is green, the meat is red, everything is fresh. The SECOND they leave, back to the slop. It's true however that because they host Federal transport and INS inmates, the food likely is to have improved a LITTLE.
i have spent almost 3/4 of a year total in that jail. Six months for the longest at one time...ive worked in the kitchen also..they have improved over all since my first experience thanks only to the ICE inmates (INS/immigration). They once refused to eat any of meals for nearly 2 days, an estimated 150 inmates to protest, shortly after they revised a different menu on certain occasions which included REAL chicken leg quarters, i was lucky to be approved to recieve double portion trays!

Well....Musicposter4you, the jail will never have a 5-star hotel conditions, but still... when people get out of there, they are sick and hungry and miserable. i am expecting for more , for better conditions because a lot of us get in jail for no reason, they hold people there long time to punish you , then they see you are not the guilty one....
i was a detainee in this jail before.i was not expected to get food like in a restaurant but it was nasty most of the times. no salt or sugar ...or too much pepper... i was there for a month and i never got pizza, maybe they have it once in a few months... as a fruit i had half an orange 2 times that month, milk-once a week and beens and macaroni every single day, all kind of colors. the food was never suficient, i was starving..... When you are a detainee nobody cares...

I had a story in a county jail and when I walked in it was the hottest, most miserable place I ever walked into (until I witnessed Parchman Prison while at WXVT-TV - Merciful GOD that was HELL). I was however born in Chicago essentially a trillionaire compared to the income some of the poor people in rural MS, LA, AL, AR, etc.. had. I donated a TV, VCR, books, etc.. to a few schools around the area but it really breaks your heart anyway :-(
