I did forget that First Hokage did fought Madara Uchiha when both were younger and the First beaten him several times up til end when Madara used Nine-Tailed Fox and it could true if First Hokage was alive and also would have beaten Itachi. Because First is wise and experience with more powerful jutsus and Itachi only learned much of the Mangekyo Sharingan by killing his friend to gain it.

Madara used the 9tails to attack konoha TWICE, the first time he got utterly defeated by the first and was nearly killed, ending up seriously crippled - the 2nd time he actualy DEFEATED the 4th but the 4th sealed the 9tails away as a last resort, due to Madara being crippled after his fight with the 1st he had to retreat once the 9tails was taken away from him. The 4th actualy admits that the "akatsuki dude in the mask" was completly overwhelming him when naruto gets a flashback.
