  • this is why i fear to go to foreign countries.

  • A 50-year-old woman who married an American man in Japan subsequently divorced him in 1998 because he made no financial contribution to their living expenses. He gave up custody rights to their two children, aged 2 and 5 at the time, on the grounds that they would be raised in Japan. However, the man later took the children to the United States without her permission. The woman felt dismayed, because she "had taken care of them 90 percent of the time."

    (The Asahi Shimbun Japanese newspaper)

  • In the case of another woman in her 30s who got married in a different country in Europe, her husband was abusive to both her and her child. She fled to Japan five years ago, but says, "I can't give my name because I'm afraid my child will be taken back."

  • Children caught in international tug-of-war as Japan hesitates to ratify Hague Convention.2011/03/04 asahi.com

"I was just in time," said a single mother, 37, living in Tokyo, with a sigh of relief.

In 2006, she met and married a French man while she was working at a company in the United States. However, on top of refusing to work, he was extremely violent to her at home, and declared he would not take care of their child. She decided to move out, taking her 2-year-old son to Japan in 2008

  • CBS doesn't announce the comments of his ex-wife, Noriko.

    this is unfair!

she said, chris is arrogant, and tried to control every manners in their family.

this is racism!!! Noriko is madame butterfly in 21 century.

  • FAKE. the story has a gaping hole in it, if the wife is right there on camera, then how can his kids be in japan?? THATS A LOGICAL FALLACY! hahahha stupid cbs making up false stories.

  • YOU SEE??? SO SHE ABDUCTS THE CHILDREN BUT WHEN GETS BACK WHAT WAS STOLEN FOM HIM FIRST HE GOES TO JAIL..... SO MUCH FOR EQUALITY

  • So much emotive language. He's not in a Japanese 'jail'. He's in a police station. Nobody has been 'kidnapped'. Such bias on behalf of the American. If you read the information about this case it's clear that the guy is just an asshole. The kids are better off in Japan with their mother and I wish her the best of luck in keeping them with her.

  • Amy is a wonderful person. Anyone who says otherwise doesnt know her..plain and simple. She has a heart of gold and fights hard for the rights of children eve though the children abducted are not her flesh and blood.

  • My friends brother was one of the officers that arrested Savoie

  • What I heard was that Chris was plotting the divorce from the beginning when he "persuaded" Noriko to come to the US with him. He cheated on his wife, tricked her into the US, and divorced her, leaving a helpless woman with no income. Then he remarried, and tried to take the children from Noriko.

I honestly don't think those children can live happily with Chris and "newly" married wife.

  • Noriko gambatte! (^-^)"\

  • Where is the voice of the mom's side? Its a sad reflection on the US media bias reporting.

  • all the people who claim that they have been to japan and say they are racist, look at yourself, if you are actually respectful the japanese people dont mind foreigners. its just dumb people that do stupid things that make japanese people not like others.

  • @bobfrombarstow goto hell! The law should be obeyed and dealt with civility. Kidnapping and running to another country for nationalistic reasons is sick.

  • Your right, the laws of a country that you are in should bey obeyed.

  • research you mean like how Christopher and Noriko were separated for 3 years according to Noriko....

Once again, how do you dispute the fact she was on US soil and SHE entered into a co parenting agreement which she violated and is now a US fugitive. Noriko's got it coming 3 fold.

  • Absolute truth.

  • @mackdan7 Racist? why dont you try going there sometime. They are among the most hospitable people in the world

  • @metalmilitia1890 I've been there four times. My mother is of mixed ancestry and grew up in Japan. They are very hospitable people, but they are also very racist. Children of mixed ancestry growing up in Japan experience a good deal of racist animosity.

  • No matter the campaign here on Youtube of some people who dont have anything more useful or interesting to do with their lives (cupwithcandles), the bottom line is that it doesnt matter what people here think. Those kids are the only ones who know if they want to live with their father or not. If that's case and if their mom doesnt let them, then time will be the best judge for her. If that's the case, they will hate her to death when they grow older because they'll know what hapenned.

  • Amy- NO ONE CARES about what you have to say. These were not your children, you barely knew them. You SCHEMED with their father to manipulate the US courts for the best outcome for YOURSELVES. Noriko and her children went HOME where they belong. WHAT MOTHER IN THEIR RIGHT MIND would stick around in a foreign country and subject their children to the influence & demands of two maggots like you and Chris? Many mothers WISH they had an escape hatch like Noriko had. Good for her that she escaped!!!

  • i cant wait to leave America, its full of retards, hypocrites, divorces, and idiots

  • To bad, I kind of wanted him to rot there! Not all Americans are bad, My wife and I were married for 41 years! She was Japanese!

  • You're a piece of trash.

  • why you talk so much garbage?

  • Because it's true. I've been to Japan many times and know enough about the society. Of course there are a lot of good and decent people living there but racism is also very prevalent in comparison to Europe or America.

  • 100% with ya bro.

  • I'll never understand morons like you. Stop wasting your breathe trashing your own country and leave.

Ignorant people like you don't know how well off you are living in the United States.

  • You just made my day.

  • 帰れば?

  • In Japanese court, you are always guilty and wrong, especially if you are a foreigner. This guy had no chance from the start.

  • While I am totally against Japan's failure to recognize the rights of fathers, there are so many questions not answered in this video. I wonder about the mother's side to this story. I read that the couple lived in Japan until 2008. How is it that he has already met and married to somebody else in the space of a year? If he has lived in Japan, he should have known that he was risking abduction if he moved to the States to divorce. Why did he leave Japan?

  • The children grew up in japan and the mother wanted to keep them. Its her right to keep them growing up in her country. The children belong with the mother. You bring up a good point why did this guy just live in japan and change his mind and marry some (trailer trash) woman immediately .... The reality is , America has a lot of dumb asses, and this guy is one of them.

  • The children belong with the mother???? Did she conceive those kids alone????? For God's sake, they belong to both parents. Both parents should have the same legal rights unless they are found to be unfit parents which was never the case.

  • ok i think they DEFINITLY need to let him go. if they want to resolve this, they need to go to a court of some kind.

  • Japan is letting him go... and NEVER to allow him back to Japan, ever again. He will NEVER be able to go back to Japan ever again.

The children, on the other hand, will stay in Japan with their mom.

  • And once they are able to understand the situation will grow to hate their mother.

  • Oh, I thought this was a "American Dad episode" XD lol, and that someone wants to take it down because they did something bad and went to far.

Still, this is a horrible story and that Japan should stop being pricks and let the man get his children. That ex wife should be the one to rot in jail for what she did.

  • when u american pricks making fun of asians we didnt say a word u fuk

  • Ching Chong Ching Chong Ching Chong Ching!!!

  • yea like u dumb ass

  • @crazyninjaful

that how your mom sounds like when she was giving birth to you. :)

  • This is very sad and very wrong. I call it racism against Americans or hypocrisy

  • This is sad.
