U have the position of the eyes in 3d space u can build a 3d head and track that to the footage ,creating the hud in maya or max arround the cg head,whit texture so u can project the light what comes from hud to the face of actor whit real 3d motion blur ,and i think would have been same quality and a bit faster :P. But great job anyway and i personally love Nuke.
@happygamestvfun1 After effects is a professional motion graphics tool and one if not the best available. It only seconds as a cheap compositor because its competent at it.
Adobe make alot of pro tools, photoshop, illustrator, dreamweaver, flash, ae, indesign etc. Professional means they are used professionally....all of those are. In-fact nearly all of their software is.

Weird he had to render out what the eye is seeing before he can use it as reflection.

Depends on the standard of video - in animation it is recommended to go 24 fps because of render times.
But 30 is nice.
