I actually catered an Elvis pool party, and these peanut butter and banana sandwiches were on the menu as appetizers. I simply prepared the bread as I would for a grilled cheese by buttering both sides of the bread (one smeared with peanut butter) then grilling them in a hot pan. I then cut them into triangles a poked a toothpick into them and passed them to the crowd.

I have made this before....grill it like a grilled chese with butter on the outside of the bread. (i never used chocolate sauce)I was very, very, surprised how good it tasted. Although I really liked it, I found it quite rich and sweet. Good for an occasional snack but I could not eat it every day. Tastes exceptionally good with a glass of "cold" milk.

I've been eating peanut butter (the natural kind with no additives) and banana sandwiches on whole grain bread as a snack for years. I wash it down with a glass of soy milk. Nothing could be better than than. The frying part was a little much. I can't see how all that butter could improve the taste in any way. To each his own. I've a firm believer that it's not what you eat but how much. I'm 46 years old and have weighed 150lbs for the past 25 years. So go ahead and have your cake.
