  • Hell yeah! She's absolutely right! I personally use a little screwdriver to pop out the rollers. I then dump the hair, put it back together, and we're ready to clean some more black cat hair! An awesome product! But, don't be fooled by the label!

  • Thank you! I love you for doing this simple tutorial online! Just FYI, I got here via a link posted on a product page for this item on amazon.com, so others have seen your video, thought it was super-useful, and shared it big-time. Again, can't thank you enough! With 4 cats, this thing lasted one use and has been sitting on the shelf until today, when I thought about using a cat hair brush to clean the outside of the rollers. Your way is SO much better!

  • @emylye627 oh cool, I had no idea! glad it helped :)

  • Does this work better than using packing tape?

    That's what I usually use.

  • @pinoi78 oh yeah...at least in my opinion!

  • I just used the crevice tool from my bag-less vacuum to suck the hairball out. It works in a blink of an eye.

  • @mk62l good idea!

  • My Pledge Fabric Sweeper broke the first time I used it (with the first 'sweep' actually!), so I'm impressed that yours is still going. I was excited to see it on the market because I was one of the product testers before it was available to the public. I loved it then - it was great for picking up dust, lint and human hair (I don't have any pets, just very sheddy hair of my own!) But the product they eventually released is much flimsier plastic than what I first used. More disposable.

  • I have an excellent way to empty out this sweeper when filled up too. I was using it to clean and vacuuming at the same time and I was able to stick the vacuum hose in between the two rollers and suck the hair out, duh?!?! So please don't spend the money or waste the plastic when this product is easy to use again and again.

  • Thanks alot I didn't feel like spending money for a brand new one.

  • Wonderful! My Golden Retriever and I thank you so much! :)

  • Brilliant! I bought this earlier today and was very surprised when the back of the box instructed me to throw it away after it was full. That's insane! I found I was able to remove just one roller and remove the hair.

  • Thank you! I knew there would be away to reuse it, but I wanted to see how to do it before I accidentally broke it. Though I will say mine has been filled up for weeks but it is still working ..so I hope people aren't throwing it out when they see its full without trying to use it again.

  • You just saved me a ton of time and aggravation, not to mention some $! You're also beautiful and ostensibly quirky.

    I think I'm in love.

  • hells yeah thx

  • Thanx so much for the video! I've been sticking a wire between the rollers to pull the hair out, and was worrying that I might damage the rollers. This is a lot easier and faster! (just tried it)

If anyone ever wonders how to clean the rollers really well, I use the love glove for petting your dog or cat. It cleans the rollers with static and those little rubber nubs just as well as it gets the shed hair off of your pet. Just a couple of bucks at any store like Walmart, Target, or Kmart.

  • Does it only work for furniture? How about clothing?

  • I just cut a small slot on the top because some people said they had problems removing the rollers. When you're done you just cover up the small slot with duct tape. It's kind of like the human version of pulling ants out of an anthill with a stick.

  • Thanks.. Not only did I get this for $2 off today, with my new Kittens, but now I dont have to buy this thing again... Im sure I would've figured it out because those rollers work the same way as some equipment at work. Booyeah

  • Pledge should be grateful for your video, and kick down some cash for advertising!! I NEVER would have purchased this product or recommended it to all my pet-loving friends and family if i never watched this!!

  • Gollygeewhiz, then you just pull the hair out. That's very very easy.

  • I didn't want to buy it because it said to throw it out after it got full and not to attempt to clean it out. My mom-in-law gave us one as a gift so I tried to open it the first time it got full. It was so easy to pull the rollers out. I wanted to make a video too but thought Pledge might see it and change the design so it couldn't be done. I am glad you did it so everyone can save some money. Gotta give credit the thing does work. Had it under a month and cleaned it out more than 4 times now.

  • that wold suck if they changed the design but I think they probably feel pretty stupid at this point, for underestimating their customers' intelligence! I love this thing too though

  • I just bought one today and already it's completely full of hair. I've got two very sheddy cats. Shame on Pledge for expecting consumers to throw this product away after it fills up! And thank you frowniebrown for shedding some light on this!

  • my pleasure!

  • Yes! I figured this out and was going to make a video, but you were first! The fact that SC Johnson would have the consumer use this product once and throw it away is just pure proof of how absolutely wasteful and greedy they really are. When my wife went to toss it in the trash I said no way! I took a quick look at it and determined those rollers could easily be removed to get the pet hair out of the reservoir and then replaced easily to re-use the item over and over again.

  • they can't fool us! haha

  • thank you so much!! I was so mad you couldn't open it! I'm glad I checked youtube before i threw it away.

  • Hello, I saw the ad on TV and said to my self ' Ah! another Gimmick'', but then I saw yer video. I decided to give it a try and guess what? It works just great, as advertized. And yer roller removal tip just works the same; easy as pie. Thx a bunch for the video and BOO on Johnson & Son's for telling peeps to toss it in the garbage. Not enviro friendly AT ALL and costly for nothing. C'mon Jonhson & son, you have made a great product, just dont take us for idiots, mmkay ?

  • haha, exactly!

  • Ha. I just bought one of these, thinking it just opened up and let you clean it out. How hard would it be for them to design it that way?

When I got it home and realized I was supposed to throw it away, I figured this out myself. I was just looking to see if other people had too :)

Very wasteful of Pledge. Just a scheme to get more money. I'm kinda disgusted.

  • Ya I'm glad you figured it out, one less thing to sit in a landfill!

  • Your right!

  • great suggestion, my dog sheds so much that it was only good for one time over on my rug.

  • haha I hear ya!

  • Thx a lot!! =)

  • you're welcome!

  • I was SO MAD when they came out with this, AFTER we had to give our pets away. We SOOOO could have used that!! Good tips :o)

  • Haha thanks, love! Unfortunately, I already broke mine but I when I get another I will be sure to do empty it!

  • on no! were you trying to open it! I almost broke my too before I decided NOT to pry it open with a butter knife. It could happen to anyone :)
