To be honest I think you missed the whole point of the series... but that's my opinion... Will & Grace is without a doubt (in my opinion) the best series out there, I was hooked on it and nearly cried when I watched the last episode.
Yes the series was made by a gay man and no it wasn't to show the stereotype goes for all gays. Like all comedy series, it was so that you could have a laugh, and I certainly did, people who watch Will & Grace are generally gay supporters, so no harm done.
well im gay.. and i have 2 gay best friends that i live with.. one of them is just like jack and is not a steriotype.. there many gay guys like that... and im proud to say that if there was more gays like jack the world would be a better place.
MY GOD. You guys really didn't get what QaF was about, did you?Not to mention Brian Kinney. He was the most beautiful character of all...and not just in apperance. His character is about being proud of who you are, proud of your sexuality,be happy,do what YOU want, not what they tell you to do,stand up for your friends and what you believe in...(coz yes,he did.countless times. watch season 3 episode 14 f.e.)and aLOT LOT more...
So before your critizise Qaf and Brian Kinney, you should understand what the show was about and what the legendary Brian Kinney stood for. There will never again exist a more influential, interesting and credible character on television. Brian Kinney is LEGENDARY! And Gale Harold is a damn fine actor!
And Cowlip never shied away from the darker, dirtier sides of the characters. They showed them as beautiful, but yet flawed characters that you could believe in. And that's the whole point: We don't want som polished "Gay as blazes" characters! We want good storylines with believable characters!
And what drew us to QAF was the interesting characters. They were beautiful, intelligent, 3 dimensonal characters with layers and depth. They were believable. This show was important because it showed these characters as intelligent, full dimensional human beings
Well, what you don't understand is that Queer as folk showed a lot of good sides and aspects of gay people and gay life, as well as the more shady, dirty ones. Brian Kinney was actually a beautiful character in many ways, and we saw how he developed throughout the 5 seasons. You also don't seem to understand that qaf never tried to "show what gay life is really like". They just told a story of a group of friends living in Pittsburgh.
Oh Please! I am gay and there are more Brian Kennys out there then you can shake a stick at, and as for Jack and Will please honey how can two queens stay friends without dishing each other...get ova yourselves girls..you sound like the straight moral majority moralizing...stop cleaning and jump each others bones...
You start by condemning these characters as stereotypical and over the top, portraying all things that gays don't want to be seen as; though most of my gay friends, and myself at times, act like a Brian-Jack Hybrid. You make it seem like Jack and Will shouldn't be friends just because they make fun of each other, even though Jack introduced Will to the gay world, made him realize he was gay, and through out the seasons whenever one truly needed the other, they were there but I see your point.
Also, the bald one keeps saying that the house isn't clean enough and makes fun of his alleged significant other for "missing a spot." So Jack and Will, oh I mean, two gay guys, you're video left me wondering who the hell do these people think they are? And for good reason, if you've never had a dirty thought about Brian Kinney or wanted to spend a day with Jack McFarland I think you should look in the mirror and evaluate your sexuality.
Gay People will always be portrayed as loud, bitchy, and clever because that's who we are. I mean, you even try to be witty with your whole underground video criticism ring. And though the entire thing made me kind of angry, towards the end I was more confused because you decided to argue that Jack and Brian are key characters to gay media; I'm a junior in high school and I feel bad for having to tell two grown "men" to look up the concept of Logical Fallacies - but do it.
In conclusion, if you're gonna make a point, no matter how idiotic intolerant or incongruous, don't make a case for the other side. It makes you look indecisive.
So where's the point? I can laugh easily at W&G... People who tend to look at them and just see "stereotypes" are just narrow minded anyhow. Only thing is see is 4 subleme bitching characters I can laugh at. On the other hand here I see 2 men who wasted 4.06 min of my life and then 4 other minutes to express my feelings. Well done! As a stereotype I would have to share that you 2 fit the whining gay's club. Don't worry, drop in at the optimistic gay club somewhere in the future! Cheerssssssssss!
i've never watched QAF, but as for Jack Mcfarland...he's a character on a sit-com for cyring out loud....sit com characters are supposed to be "characatures" of people. "over the top" if you will. sit-coms are supposed to portray real types of people but in a larger than life, quite stereo-typical ways. in other words, get over it, W&G is funny as hell. love to see jack and karen together LOL
i don't mean to sound rude, but you guys have obviously never really watched qaf. true, brian can be selfish and sex-driven, but if you watch the show, you will see that he has a great heart but has problems expressing his emotions (he essentially has the emotional maturity of a 5 year old but blame his parents). i truly believe that brian is the most amazing and complex character on tv. i hope that you two will take a second look and see how wrong you are about him
Hated it. It was their poll, right? If they'd wanted it to be "Most admired gay tv role model," then that's what they should have called it. But they didn't, so shut up.
Never seen such shit in my life. Some advice: understand what Queer As Folk is about before you dump all over it and it's characters.

And yeah..I agree with RyanSJS.
I bet you'd give ANYTHING for Brian Kinney...and the fact that he'd never even look at you make you hate his character so much.

their insults is the reason for their friendship and if you watched more than 2 episodes, then you can see that!

He might have reasons to be an ***hole, but Brian is still a total ***hole.
I didn't watch religiously, but what I saw...didn't work for me. Seemed like a total soap opera a la Melrose Place, but with worse lighting.

I feel like breaking out the "bad cliche" game. These two are vomit material. And, you're right, QAF board, who's horrific underpants are those?
Nasty....
