I haven't heard this song in more than 30 years I almost forgot that exists.. such a beautiful song falls definitely among the top five from Alice .. I'm 42 & a big Alice fun .... Great song ...
The song was written and released in 72, but it's still about neglect, but if you look up cases of child neglect, you'll see cases from the 70s that are still just as bad as today
@lungsounds There already is an abortions song , It's called BODIES by the SEX PISTOLS . " she was a girl from Birningham , she just had an abortion " .......... F#cking bloody mess ...... Mummie I'm not an A N I M A L ..
I'm not a discharge .... Millions of our generation murdered because they were INCONVENIENT .
@DAVPK1 Yeah true. But this sure beats being a parent when parenting is inconvenient. Like when likely parent is drug or alcohol addicted or just completely incapable. Sometimes abortion is more humane.
@Morgethein . The whole pop ballad shite is just the same garbage. Modern music is an affront to real Classical and Opera music. Modern bands have stupid names and theatrical to make it appealing. Christ, just look at Alice Cooper.
@reziztanze Alice Cooper is awesome. Yes he's theatrical, but he combines that with his music, which is also awesome. I agree that classical and opera music sounds good in many cases, but so does music like this.
Black and white films are often enjoyable, too-do you watch them exclusively then come and bitch about Die Hard on youtube?
Enjoy the music you enjoy, and fuck off so you can leave us to do the same. I don't go on about Alice when I listen to Beethoven.
@reziztanze Also, Alice's music is fantastic on it's own-it doesn't need theatrical accompaniment, that's just a bonus. Same goes for a lot of bands/artists.
@reziztanze I wouldn't blame the music industry for making "strange" music and using gimiques. Don't forget that the parents of all the people who listened to classical music thought that hymnal music was more appropriate than beethoven, and before the founding of the catholic church, and even roman mythology, people listened to drums, and sung together in a large group for religous rituals.
I'd blame leniant parents more than anything for "retrogression." Not Alice Cooper.
@reziztanze your comments strongly and consistently indicate that your presence on this forum is completely pointless and a waste of your time and everyone elses- why not piss off and stick to things you are interested in?
To think a whole generation was brought up on this insanity is very worrying. This garbage poisoned and twisted young people’s minds and not musically educated or matured them. Infact, it’s a musical retrogression.
@AdoThePirate Yes, I know he is. However, just look at the sick theatrical crap involved in all this. Also, who sings songs about dead babies anyway? It’s macabre and twisted. End of.
@reziztanze serious question. why do you comment on every alice cooper video bitching. no one wants to hear it and you're way outnumbered when it comes to people who like him and people who don't so just shut your damn mouth, jesus christ, no one cares what you think and you're not gonna sway anyones opinion.
@reziztanze This "garbage" did far from twist my mind. It opened it up. Alice is a great man and had a very good reason for writing this song. He's shining a hideous light on the fact that some parents are fucking shocking and need to wake up and watch their kids. Did you even pay attention the lyrics? You need to open the lid up on that fucking sheltered existence you're living and stop taking everything so literally my man!
@Spookytooth25I was listening to this meaningless garbage back in 1973 at 11 years old. I got to 18 and realised what lunacy I was listening too. This crap only appeals to those fucked up like Alice Cooper himself.
That's why the rock n roll hall of fame is a joke, madonna is in? Yes she is a talent, but she aint rock, yet a trailblazer, and innovater like the Coop isnt in there? Thats just wrong. "Remember the Coop huh, I hope they don't forget me or nothing...goodbye."
my dads ex-wife knocked out a guy singing this because it was right after my baby sister died, my family loves the song, its just not good to hear after a 2 day old baby dies "R.I.P." to my sister <3
dead babies cant take things off the shelf, but we didn't love you anyway me 1st concert was alice and ted nugent my dad bet my mom i was going to see some chick performing he lost! that show had the electric chair in it best show i have ever seen and i have seen alot alice was years ahead of d. bowie and kiss if it was not for alice there would not b a bowie or kiss
It's still part of the fun - to see Alice "these days" and get into the show by yelling such things such as "HANG HIM!!!" or "OFF WITH HIS HEAD"" good good fun!!! Long live the Coop!!!
saw the last Killer Tour in 1972 he play this song among his best hits ever was blown away . My hairs stills stands when i hear this song ......but live and less than 40 feet from me, "speech less"
Have you ever really though about this song it is really telling you about what is happening today in this world like child obuse and people that have abandoned there babys and not giving a shit about them
A friend of mine would call a classic rock station that occasionally took request and saying they could play any request that was given to them by well known artist..This friend of mine asked if they would play some Alice cooper..They said sure we got that .He says dead babies..Oh we don't have that..He go's you call yourself a classic rock station and you cant even play dead babies...
@opticalvibes Let me tell you a little secret about most radios stations and their so called "request shows".
I'm a former DJ myself from a major market. There is a master computerized play list of the songs you can play at most stations. If the song you request isn't on that list, forget it , you won't hear it. And if it's an obscure one on "the list", it has less of a chance of being played than a more familiar song. So much for listeners requests. See you on satellite radio ! ..
this clip is from a Canadian documentary about the music business called, "Rock - a - Bye" BTW. It also shows footage of, Still Got a Long Way to Go and Billion Dollar Babies possibly? It was from '74, there is stuff from a bunch of other groups too including "The Stones" I was just watching it too actually!
actualy this song was about neglect and he wrote it about abortion etc people didnt want there babies so he got the idea to write a song about killing babies I tht it was a great song
I saw Alice do this song in 1971.. blew me away.. I heard he had a good show before I went, but in those days.. I thought they meant "light show"...lol.. what a shock
Comparing Ozzy and Alice is like comparing apples and oranges. Ozzy is very charismatic and deserves all respect in the world for what he did in Black Sabbath. Alice is Alice - great shows, tight musicians, good songs. I love 'em both!
Studies show 80% of kids have been listening to rap, fake rock, or pop. If you are one of those 20% who still knows what music is copy and paste to 1 video

@tearwrist First of all, you can take Queen right out of your comment, because they were TITS. The rest of the bands were shit, granted, but Queen? Fuck no. Queen are GODS of rock, and shame on you for implying otherwise.

A game show said they took speedy gonzolis off tv becuse it offended " some groups" and we used to listen to this, when we had free speach, try to get this song on the radio today.
Who would have thunk that Obama "the all merciful" and the Democrat Party got their party platform from titles of Alice Cooper songs! Strange world!?...very strange
It was shocking as Hell in the 70's even though it is totally fake looking. Very over the top of most people's thinking back then. Parents hated this shit
That was so poorly filmd that I realy could'nt tell what was hapening. Hell it shows him from the back most of the time and all the frontal shots were realy far away. Whoever filmd that aught'a be choped up himself, cause he they realy ruind it!
Where's the evil? I want to see some evil. Show it to me, cause I'm not seeing any in these parts. That headless baby? Not a real baby. Not real evil.
I've always imagined Cooper having the down to earth middle American working Joe, or Minister as your case may be, come out the front of the stadium with tea and jaffa cakes for the protesters and engaging a dialogue. The misplaced hatred of the majority of these groups runs so deep that that verbal exchange could never happen with the man himself, I tried a few times but they could never wrap their head around the fact that a young, unmarried woman working with a rock act could be a Christian.
That sounds about like religious protest groups. More about the morals and what the local papers will allow than the forgiving and helping aspect. I'm IN a rock act. You can imagine how well that goes.
My husband is as well, but the kids in his youth group think that's COOL. What I don't understand is: Coopers Christianity and charity is not exactly a well kept secret a la the Holy Grail, have these neo con Christians not watched CNN and observed him talking about The Rock? Do they not realize that he comes from a long line of men who have ministered the Word? I say there is no place for hypocrites in heaven but if their washed in the blood I guess I'd better get ready for them.
Well goodness gracious, we can't have the likes of Alice and Sheryl Cooper being the community raising the children that no one else gave two shits about. I still have my Dad's "Don't blame me, I voted for Alice," T-shirt from when Nixon was in office, I think that simple phrase says a lot about the state of affairs in our great countries.
The rock and roll hall of fame is a joke. Madonna, a rock and roller? Maybe Joan Jett. It's all about Pop music. Michael Jackson etc.. A bunch of twirp dildos is who is on the selection committee. We should all get up some sort of referendum for true rock fans.
The next night the child came once again. He had a little light in his hand and said, "See, my shirt is almost dry, and I will be able to rest in my grave." Then the mother surrendered her grief to God and bore it with patience and peace, and the child did not come again, but slept in his little bed beneath the earth.
...I'm speechles. I've heard about the baby-thing from my dad but when I was watching this I just couldn't believe that he hacked the baby doll's head off... I'm shocked...AWESOME! Alice Cooper, the king of shock rock!
I don't have to Google it,you were wrong. If a weatherman married a girl named Susan Rain, that would be ironic.Anyways,I apologize about the comment on Finland.
I would have to admit that you are right if you want to go that far.I still think under the circumstance it was the wrong choice and irony and sarcasm are distinctly different.
excellent song one of his best.

Who would have thunk that Obama "the all merciful" and the Democrat Party got their party platform from titles of Alice Cooper songs! Strange world!?...very strange
hsimpson 3 years ago
It was shocking as Hell in the 70's even though it is totally fake looking. Very over the top of most people's thinking back then. Parents hated this shit

I was reffering to the stage show-- he chops the baby's head off!!!!
im pretty sure that's kinda evil...
AliceCooperRocks8 3 years ago
That was so poorly filmd that I realy could'nt tell what was hapening. Hell it shows him from the back most of the time and all the frontal shots were realy far away. Whoever filmd that aught'a be choped up himself, cause he they realy ruind it!

I saw him Sunday. This song was incredible live, and disturbing as hell (along with Only Women Bleed).

This song has a moral: don't neglect your kids. Good stuff.

AliceCooperRocks8 3 years ago
Where's the evil? I want to see some evil. Show it to me, cause I'm not seeing any in these parts. That headless baby? Not a real baby. Not real evil.

Alice needs to take you on tour with him to placate his FELLOW Christians who still protest outside of his shows, you'd be an excellent middle man.
thegirl44 3 years ago
I'm not sure if that was sarcasm or not, so I think I should point out that I myself am a minister. Also, it would rule to go on tour with Alice.
irontrousers 3 years ago
I've always imagined Cooper having the down to earth middle American working Joe, or Minister as your case may be, come out the front of the stadium with tea and jaffa cakes for the protesters and engaging a dialogue. The misplaced hatred of the majority of these groups runs so deep that that verbal exchange could never happen with the man himself, I tried a few times but they could never wrap their head around the fact that a young, unmarried woman working with a rock act could be a Christian.
thegirl44 3 years ago
That sounds about like religious protest groups. More about the morals and what the local papers will allow than the forgiving and helping aspect. I'm IN a rock act. You can imagine how well that goes.
irontrousers 3 years ago 2
My husband is as well, but the kids in his youth group think that's COOL. What I don't understand is: Coopers Christianity and charity is not exactly a well kept secret a la the Holy Grail, have these neo con Christians not watched CNN and observed him talking about The Rock? Do they not realize that he comes from a long line of men who have ministered the Word? I say there is no place for hypocrites in heaven but if their washed in the blood I guess I'd better get ready for them.
thegirl44 3 years ago
If they're washed in the blood. Wow, lack of coffee even affects my grammar.
thegirl44 3 years ago
I was really glad to hear about The Rock. You'd think they would be too. But "OH NO! BLOOD!"
irontrousers 3 years ago
Well goodness gracious, we can't have the likes of Alice and Sheryl Cooper being the community raising the children that no one else gave two shits about. I still have my Dad's "Don't blame me, I voted for Alice," T-shirt from when Nixon was in office, I think that simple phrase says a lot about the state of affairs in our great countries.

child abuse is very CREEPY. alice was so misunderstood back then.

The rock and roll hall of fame is a joke. Madonna, a rock and roller? Maybe Joan Jett. It's all about Pop music. Michael Jackson etc.. A bunch of twirp dildos is who is on the selection committee. We should all get up some sort of referendum for true rock fans.

Daddy is an agrophile in Texas
Mommy's on the bar most every night
Little Betty's sleeping in the graveyard
The next night the child came once again. He had a little light in his hand and said, "See, my shirt is almost dry, and I will be able to rest in my grave." Then the mother surrendered her grief to God and bore it with patience and peace, and the child did not come again, but slept in his little bed beneath the earth.

of course it's a doll . Are you stupid!
kenfuscious 4 years ago 4
I think he was being ironic, so you're the one who's stupid.
ikpraatmetpoezen 4 years ago
Hey, he's from Finland so you never know. Also,it's sarcasm not irony. Now who's stupid dude !
kenfuscious 4 years ago
1. I will not let you trick me into making racist jokes about South Korea.
2. I believe the puppet-baby remark would be a form of understatement, which is a form of irony.
3. Sarcasm is a subcategory of irony, google it.
4. Please stop embarrassing yourself.
ikpraatmetpoezen 4 years ago
I don't have to Google it,you were wrong. If a weatherman married a girl named Susan Rain, that would be ironic.Anyways,I apologize about the comment on Finland.
kenfuscious 4 years ago
Well that's pretty easy now, isn't it? "I'm not wrong as long as I don't look at the facts that prove me wrong!"
Irony, like many other rhetorical devices, has many forms. If you google verbal irony + sarcasm you will see.
ikpraatmetpoezen 4 years ago
I would have to admit that you are right if you want to go that far.I still think under the circumstance it was the wrong choice and irony and sarcasm are distinctly different.
kenfuscious 4 years ago
Well in the end, it's still ALICE COOPER!
