  • You did GREAT job !! I did that book and course at GIT many years ago.. Wished I still had the book : )))

  • @SIRONEDRAGON

Thank you! Did Howard Roberts teach you?

  • @dafsaer HR taught me some great things about life and the guitar.

  • your tone is sick man! And your swingin it nice

  • @guitarsvolta Sick? Does that mean good or bad?

  • Its slang for really good! Do you have a compressor on? Don't let these "cats get you down! It's hard to make a track sound fresh but you kicked ass. Al Di Meola is pretty mechanical himself. Your sound was similar to that of sax, legato. I just got that book today and did my first lesson an hour ago. It took me two hours because of the chords and I learned the solos he puts in there for fun. Also got the GIT books from a student who attended in 1986. It a lot of material with no guide. Im lost!

  • good but like to see straight eight notes , no slide no pul off like the book say

  • @Jotys Hey, do you know the book? That's two of us in the world! This is a secret.

  • @dafsaer If you mean Howard Roberts Jazz Guitar Technique 20 Weeks, than yes I know that book I have it in PDF format. I think it's great lesson. I just finish first lesson (just nonstop straight 8 notes) but I am gona start over again after vacation.

  • Selsig.

  • jazz impro....but....what a feeling ...there is not a feeling ...juste mecanic ...a feeling is more important than a mecanic string....you must hear mister "Al di meola "

  • That kettlebell has clearly helped create super chops...

1 half of the Meow Mix

  • Hey dafs, I really enjoyed listening in........some very lovely lines in your playing....... melodic and pleasing thru-out bro!..........KEEPON STRUMIN.......DALLAS

  • not bad at all, sounds real good!

  • I'm working on jazz at the moment and i think it sounds really good! It's probably because i'm not that good yet. Can you send me the link to how you got so good?

  • What do you mean by link to how I got so good? Do you mean the Howard Roberts Super Chops book?

  • Sorry my fault, I thought it was a website of some sort

  • I think you can google it and find a pdf online.

  • lol i can see the predictability you're talking about, and awesomeness in the ears of jazz virgins.

But it sounds nice, and you're pretty good with the scales up and down the fretboard. you'll probably find that "dynamicness" soon.

  • great ! keep on working !

  • Good playing, an occasional quick run would be refreshing but I am not criticising in any way as it is nice music. Da iawn Dafydd.

  • Very very nice. I can only dream to able to play that well. Don't give up!

  • Great soloing!! Nice tones.

  • Thank you very much Mike!

  • dude u are the man!!!

  • great performance

  • you wouldn't happen to have a link to where you can find that lesson book?

  • That was really good. Iam also starting to learn jazz guitar and it is very hard. What's crazy is that you picked up jazz only 6 months ago and youre already that good. Do you have any advice for a fellow jazz guitarist???

  • I didn't pick up jazz 6 months ago! I've been playing guitar for years and dabbling with jazz without much success until the Howard Roberts course opened it up for me.

  • Beautiful =)

  • sounds great man

  • From an older jazz to a younger jazz guitarist to be. Your pharsing is out of whack. You are just running scales and that wouldn't make you great. Listen to other greats because you have a ways to go.

  • Hey, thanks for the advice! I'm running arpeggios (if you didn't see that, are you qualified to comment?) - I don't really know my scales properly. That will take me years. I have listened to the greats for years - I don't aspire to play like them. I play only for the pleasure it gives me - which is immense! How old are you, by the way?

  • no way! this guy is great. I'd like to see you do better.

  • You are an idiot!

  • ok.. u play it fine.. nice vid.. but.. wheres the lesson??>

  • I'm not giving a lesson - just playing the lesson from Howard Roberts.

  • great lesson!

  • i love it!

  • Great..

    Marcelo - Brasil.

  • Where did you find the Super Chops book?

  • Found a shop online and phoned them. Was trying to buy the Praxis Compendium, but they recommended this and I went with it. You can download it as a pdf from some jazz guitar site, too.

  • nice song and nice guitar!

i have a howard roberts guitar too, and i take very cool sounds of her.

    saludos from argentina!

    juansiz

  • I like the tone, like the guitar and like Daf.

Don't like Jazz for more than a minute though: SONGS ARE ALL!

  • It sounds like you exported the movie with a low bitrate audio setting (that nasty mosquito sound) Reexport the movie or rerecord on a higher setting.

Playing is pretty good though!! ;-) Gonna look into that Super Chops instruction video..

  • I don't have much tech knowledge. The soundtrack is in Protools, then the film assembled on movie maker or whatever on my Mac. Then put on a memory stick, loaded into my PC, and put on YouTube. Should I check some settings somewhere in that chain?

  • Most likely some setting in movie maker. I can't imagine PT exporting sound this way (unless specifically selected..)

Oh well! It's more about the playing then the sound I guess. Looked into the Super Chops method (i know now it's a book and not an instruction video as I stated earlier..) Cool method and as always it's mostly a matter of discipline!! That's something I lack I'm afraid...

    Keep on the wonderful playing!

  • ahhh, it seamed very good, i've only been playing around 9 months i started off with blues, went into thrash metal rythm, then into acoustic worship guitar :D since i'm a christian now.. YEAH! so yeah, now my school needs a jazz guitarist so i'm looking into some stuff on it... since i've only been playing 9 months and have never even really listened to jazz.. this sounds amazing :D

    keep at it, bro

  • your phrasing isn't bad, but your tone might be a bit trebly judging by the recordings.

  • Your tone is awful... some mosquitoes buzzing around? That fuzzy distortion under your clean sound is making me nervous...

In the other hand, I like your playing style... ain't Tal Farlow but a nice jazz improvisation.

  • H'mm. I'll have a look at that. There wasn't any distortion when I was playing or recording. Thanks for your compliment on my playing style though. It's getting there, and it's such great fun - you never stop learning with this stuff.
