they mute the sound so you wont hear the zooming motor. on some samsung models you can turn the sound mute off so you hear everything during zooming.

Hey Dude, when you are producing some good filming material, you don't walk and zoom. Then you move to a new angle and take the next shoot, so don't complain.

Got the Camera (WB1500/TL320)

The noise turns off while zooming. At least you can adjust the zoom while rolling, unlike other competitors. :/

I'm getting a pocket field recorder though, so all is well. If I'm caring about sound. I'll use it.
